so once peace is settled is Israel going to simply rebuild all these destroyed homes for themselves? That would be completely illegal, but when has that stopped them?

Unconditional without preconditions means the blockade stays in place the siege continues and Israeli troops do what they want. Maybe and it is maybe, the bombs rockets pause a bit.

Last night C-SPAN showed the tape of the Young African Leaders Summit. I missed most of his speech (I will have to watch the YouTube later) but I watched the question and answer portion and I was blown away. This man is brilliant! I knew this, of course, but to see him detail his insights and ideas to the attendees was breathtaking. He selected the questioners randomly and responded spontaneously. And his words on support for women, and why/how democracy for all benefits both business and people were powerful. People always talk about how talented a communicator Bill Clinton is/was. PBO is every bit as good at speaking to REAL people as if he is one of them (because he is!). I wish more folks were geeks about this stuff like me so they could witness their awesome President instead of watching the latest singing competition or celebrity silliness.

I love how he is creating this partnership with Africa. I know the haters will say all kinds of hateful things because his father was African, but this is one of the things that makes him best suited to accomplish this, which will be a benefit to the USA, economically and diplomatically for decades to come.

      August 4, 2014 at 5:22 pm

MadameSoph, PBO has the finest intellect of any president ever to occupy the WH, bar none. He also has the broadest, most reality-based vision of the world and he has the personal discipline to focus and get important things accomplished—a skill sadly lacking in Bill Clinton.

      • August 4, 2014 at 6:01 pm

I totally agree with both of you. I think it’s also important to point out his character and moral compass. He’s always working to empower OTHERS, not himself.

This president is exceptional on so many levels. I put him on the same level as Lincoln.

You know JO’B, I still find this a bit suspect. All the media outlets have been reporting based on this one person’s tweet and a group of related tweets from random people who claim to have seen Malia. Secondly, the person does not identify herself as a friend of Malia. It’s highly unlikely that a true friend of Malia would tweet out a pic like this. I think they would respect her privacy and not try to draw attention to themselves and her in that way. Thirdly, the WH would probably have put a stop to that pic if it were really Malia – virtually all the media outlets are reporting this with that one tweet pic.

      • 75 vcprezofan2
        August 4, 2014 at 5:44 pm

I am inclined to your view, Hopef. Something about the picture seems ‘off’ to me too. The mannerism, the hair, the ‘aura’, none give me a feel that this is Malia, and in one of the pictures I saw earlier the person being thus labeled looked older and her face seemed ‘longer’.

        • 76 hopefruit2
          August 4, 2014 at 5:55 pm

Indeed vc. That’s exactly what I told Dotster and Chips on the previous thread – the body language and something about the face doesn’t seem quite right.

The thing is, we’ve seen enough pics of Malia – probably more than the average media person or the casual Obama supporter. So we immediately notice when something seems a bit off about a picture…the media wouldn’t catch that. And even if they did…

          • 77 vcprezofan2
            August 4, 2014 at 6:02 pm

Yes, I noticed your comments earlier, which is what made me look more closely. I do not really know Malia, of course, and I have no wish to disparage this person for any reason, but she does seem ‘brassier’ that I imagine MAO to be. Anyhoo, there’s no sense in my speculating so I’ll stop myself here, and leave it at this.

        • 79 sjterrid
          August 4, 2014 at 7:48 pm

This might be a picture of Malia, but I think it was photoshopped in. This doesn’t look like the two girls are in the same picture.

        August 4, 2014 at 5:48 pm

HF, just took a look. I truly don’t think that’s her.

        August 4, 2014 at 7:42 pm

Hopefruit, someone on the earlier thread posted the picture of Malia supposedly at the concert. I think Malia was photoshopped in that picture. There’s a difference in the lighting of the one girl and Malia.

Ok, need to take a couple of deep breaths. Just saw tweets about some “birthday wishes” being offered PBO from a mainstream Israeli website and from across the US embassy in Moscow. If they’re that pissed off at him, must mean he’s doing his job.

Does anyone here know how to get the url for a pic of PBO or PBO in a crowd (that’s not copyrighted)? [Not even sure my question makes any sense. Am trying to get offspring to add a pic of PBO/ PBO and a crowd to something, but he won’t unless he has the url and there’s no copyright infringement. Grrrr!] Some people are so precise they drive me bonkers!!!

Okay, so I talked offspring into putting his sensibilities aside and using a PBO picture to replace his sound cloud pic, but I’m not sure how it will show up. Both have shown up when I tried. Crossing my fingers for the PBO one to appear even though it’s ‘old’.

I was trying not to mar this thread celebrating the life of PBO but because I am not sure how long I will be online but I wanted to share the #waronwhites hashtag. It is hilarious. It seems that Republicans finally figured out that they have alienated EVERY demographic group and came up with the strategy that says don’t believe your lying eyes, it is the Dems fault.

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) on Monday accused Democrats of engaging in a “war on whites”

I just turned off Rev. Al because he said Tonight’s Headline is GOP and impeachment. WTF??!!??

    Here are better Headlines:
Benghazi nonsense proved 100% false. By GOP led committee.
Gas Prices going to lowest point since 2010.
Krugman says that Dodd-Frank is working very well.
Obamacare has boosted Medicare so much that the entire program will be viable for many more years than estimated.
    Happy Birthday , Mr. President.
Alisn Lundergan Grimes delivered a barn-burner which she called Sen, McConnell’s retirement Party!!!!!!

And that is just off the top of my head.

Vicki, everyday there are better headlines than what makes it onto even PBO-friendly TV news/shows.
I am tired out from forwarding email links to f&f only to have someone write back with “It’s nice to hear something good for a change; all I hear is negative things”

      Thank god for TOD!
