Good morning Chips, 99ts and Roberta. Hope PBO enjoys every single moment of this day and is left alone by the whiners, the liars, the hate mongers and the evil doers. Wonder what he’ll get for his birthday?

There are big local weather alerts flashing about dense fog that will make visibility very difficult this morning. But the sun is shining out my window, there’s not a cloud in the sky and I can see for miles. Go figure.

    Good Monday Chipsticks…TODers!!!

President Obama is a rare jewel. He is a man of good character and great intellect…the right person to lead this country during these complex times. He has brought hope back to those who had lost hope. He has been a voice for those of us whose voices are not heard or are ignored. He has reminded us that we can make a difference no matter how small our contributions seem to be. We are better off as individuals and as a nation because Barack Obama was willing to give of himself.

May President Obama continue to be blessed with the health, wisdom, and strength – both mental and physical — he needs as he continues to lead this country. May he feel the love of those who support him, not just in this country but throughout the world. ❤ ❤ ❤

Happy 53rd Birthday Mr. President!!!! With your birth, the world was given a gift.

TODers, be AWESOME in celebration of the day!!! 😀

Perfect statement, SW. He is all of what you say and I join with you in praying he continues to be blessed with health, wisdom and strength. The best gift we can give him is a Democratic congress and that’s what we have to work for every day from now until November.

“The best gift we can give him is a Democratic congress …”

        I soooooooo agree, JackieG!

Thank you for doing so much to ensure #LandslideDems2014.

Look at how much PBO does (energizer bunny has nothing on PBO) every.single.day despite GOP obstruction, lies and bigotry. Which has led to… GOP/MSM desperation. Heh.

He’s always got a spring in his step when it comes to domestic issues (so much death and suffering recently when it comes to foreign affairs).

It will be amazing to watch and participate in an Obama Administration with a Congress who actually wants to govern, not preen and self-promote.

Looks as if Saudi Arabia is bracing for an ISIS invasion of Mecca. The killing never ends.

    • August 4, 2014 at 9:09 am

The Saudi rose to power after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, absorbing large chunks of land under the watchful eye of their allies, the British. Their kingdom, previously called Wahaabis, conquered neighboring lands until they controlled much of the Arabian peninsula. They have since then backed many terrorist organizations in the region, in an effort to destabilize their neighbors. The Palestinian group Hamas in particular is financially backed by Saudi Arabia, despite the Saudi government really not caring about the Palestinian people. King Abdullah even condemned Hamas this past week without any criticism of Israel. It benefits them in keeping its neighbors weak. But now, their backing of such groups has given rise to an entity they cannot hope to so easily dismiss…

Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny, and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Monday morning. Congrats 99ts on being first.

In addition to today being President Obama’s Birthday, it is also my Daughter’s 21st Birthday.

Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America.

Something tells me that Twitter will see to it that our President’s birthday greeting from well-wishers doesn’t trend. After all, we don’t want people noticing how *popular* he is. On the other hand, if some Teabaggers come up with a nasty, sarcastic hashtag referencing his birthday, you can be sure it will comfortably settle in the #1 or #2 trending slot and remain there for the next 24 hrs.

I may be wrong about this and be pleasantly surprised. But I have my doubts…Let’s see…

      You’re right about Twitter trending.

The cards are stacked against #HappyBD44 (or whatever hashtag is used) because Twitter counts past tweeting on that subject. To reset the tweet count to zero, you first have to attain the prior number of tweets. So after 5 years as President, let’s say he got a cumulative total of 100K tweets — Twitter won’t start “trending” tweets with that hashtag until tweet 101K.

Methinks Moanin’ Joe has some very damning info on one or more of the head honchos at MSNBC….there’s no other way to explain the disproportionate sway he has on that network.

To be fair, Nixon resigned 40 years ago today.

One of those watershed moments in American history. I can remember exactly where I was when I heard the news (getting my first set of contact lens).

If you didn’t live through it, you can dismiss it, but so many young people absolutely hated the Vietnam war and RMN.

Watergate was on the airwaves 24/7 (if you’re tired of CNN’s coverage of the poop cruise and the missing Malaysian aircraft, you have no idea how exhausted we were about Watergate).

Remember too, that boys had to register for the Selective Service draft on their 18th birthday, and their future hinged on their date of birth (draft lottery).

So yeah, Nixon’s resignation was a victory for the American public.

The “sent sent” was LOL, but publishing this makes no sense.

Floridians who care about Castro want his regime to end. So these operatives were recruited from places with a similar culture to undermine the Castro regime. Where’s the news here, except to endanger those named in this article?

Remind me again which prior Administration had spies outed by the MSM?

TB_Times should be ashamed of themselves, and I hope the people named in this article remain safe.

Great find, especially for those of us who loathe @EzraKlein and don’t open the door for VOX (though Max Fischer is an admirable reporter).

“symbolically satisfying comeuppance for Putin’s involvement in Ukraine”

with a GIF so you don’t have to play the video, LOL.

    Good morning, TOD.
Paul Krugman’s hits just keep on coming.

Since leaving Privileged Princeton for the City University of NY Prof. Krugman has written column after column extolling the virtues of Obamacare.
Today he makes the case that the Dodd-Frank financial act that PBO and Congress passed has been maligned just as the ACA was. PK also states that RW critic may never admit it, but the Dodd-Frank act is working Much Better Than Anticipated.

Krugman further draws the parallel between ACA and Dodd-Frank by saying while neither one went far enough——-causing criticism from the emoprogs——————–still both were HUGE steps forward.

Paul Krugman, on most, perhaps all, matters economic, has been the most accurate and visionary economist this country has.

Again, no wonder the RW/GOP/MSM are so consistently freaked out and frantic. PBO has been eating up all the geography that the propagandists might hope to influence.
    Economy up.
    Jobs up.
    Wars ending.
Healthcare spreading. On and on and on and on and on.
