I said it before. A lot of decent people of all stripes are dreaming of a two state solution, Palestine and Israel. But the victim usually grows out to be an oppressor. I may be wrong but it seems to me that many on the Israel side would love to exterminate their neighbors for obvious reasons. First to stop the fight for land. Second, to seize the entire land and build more settlements. It is simply unbelievable. With all the claim of technology Netanyahu has, why killing civilians?

“Who knew they’d go from victims of genocide to advocating it in less than 100 years.” This tweet is so, so sad, but true!

    • August 1, 2014 at 1:04 pm

That is just appalling. I don’t even know what to say about it. We are talking about human beings, precious children.

Just goes to show there’s always an a**hole in every group….

That 3000 people even “liked” it on his facebook page is disgusting. I hope he gets ridiculed for his blatant hatefulness.

One other thing I found additionally idiotic and offensive, his article goes out of the way to mention “Mr. Obama’s Muslim upbringing….”, he might as well have said “Obama hates Jews”. What a jackass.

Just as President Obama threatens the system of white supremacy, he is also challenging the notions we have absorbed from patriarchy. I have often written about how his power (or strength) is not based on dominance – but partnership, and he regularly talks about the importance of empathy (another way of expressing nuturance). Those are just a couple of examples of how he scrambles all those notions about masculinity and femininity from within the body of a man. That confuses a lot of people and triggers some deep fears about a challenge to the way we’ve come to expect the world to be ordered. In other words, he’s dealing a death blow to the old patriarchal system.

“Florida judge orders special session to redraw congressional map”

A judge in Tallahassee has ordered Florida legislators to hold a special session to draw up a new congressional map, and the new districts must be drawn in two weeks.

Circuit Judge Terry Lewis ruled Friday that the Florida Legislature must draw up new congressional districts by August 15.

Lewis has already previously ruled the current districts are illegal because they were drawn to benefit the Republican Party.

I see a lot of people getting upset about that – but this is another “wedge” issue that the professional left & GOP media will gladly exploit to keep Dems away from the polls in November.

This is not the time. Let’s focus on the midterms and what our President and Dems are doing RIGHT – which is plenty compared to one or two things we may disagree on. After the midterms, we can go back to being very vocal about our objections, but for now, I don’ think this approach is wise.

A GOP Senate and House is not going to make the Iron Dome issue any better. But it will make plenty things a lot WORSE.

I’m disappointed but not surprised. However none of this media noise has anything to do with the blue tidal wave that’s coming in November. They know it and they know we know it. All the polling, GOP talking points and anti-PBO rhetoric can’t hide that fact. Democrats are going to come out and vote in record numbers (fingers crossed) and the media is going to have a meltdown.

Next big scandal: Obama and potato salad. Why didn’t he just order the macaroni?

I think it is absolute bullshit that US taxpayers are funding genocide. That makes ALL Americans accomplices to this radical act.

Killing thousands of Palestinians should not be considered a “wedge” issue. It is murder. Then US turns around and we have to pay for crap that Israel blows up.

This is wrong wrong DEAD wrong and we should be ashamed of ourselves.

          August 2, 2014 at 12:12 am

I agree with every thing you say nospin – however, as PBO himself noted, these conflicts have existed for many, many decades and so this is nothing new.

The sudden “outrage” in the left media that we are seeing is not really about concern for Gaza – it’s politically driven, and you’d better believe it. After the midterms, watch the coverage on both sides plummet – REGARDLESS of what is going on between. Israel and Palestine. So getting all worked up and distracted about a complex issue right before an important election is not going to get the results we want, and it certainly won’t help the people of Gaza. What it can do however, is possibly hand back the GOP the Senate – and if you think things are bad now…

Did the House pass their immigration bill..

  10. August 1, 2014 at 1:16 pm

House is still flailing on immigration. I’ve read that the bill does nothing but allow them to vote. Gotta get lunch, then see what’s up.

      August 1, 2014 at 1:28 pm

Something tells me that PBO will be making a statement after that bill “passes” the House. Because you know that the media will be breathlesslly reporting it as if it were a normal bill – knowing fully well it’s DOA in the Senate. Then they’ll try to make it look it like the Dems in the Senate are blocking great legislation that the House GOP passed…

But Bob iron dome may have saved that many Israeli lives.
So, both sides are lobbing war, one side has anti missile batteries to protect it’s people.
The other side doesn’t… Thus many more deaths on Paiestinians side.

      Brilliantly done, Suliman.

The double standard. When does the oppressed have the right Not to be slaughtered? Who dares in this small world speak and fight for them?

I have said this before……My anger goes directly to the Arab and Muslim world…..the leaders of these nations. How long must they stand idly by while thousands of Palistinians die every other year?

That picture of a little boy wearing a helmet with black plastic bag as a bulletproof jacket…….
He was imaging being a TV reporter for they were the ones going into buildings and coming out without being killed. That picture haunted me all night. I dreamt about and woke up in a cold sweat.

This tweet brought it all back.

I’ve got to go and buy some food. Shall I pick up some wine, gin, vodka, bourbon, tequila and cheesy puffs for our TODers’ Friday night deep breathing exercises?

    Money bomb tonight? Pre-POTUS-birthday bash?

There’s nothing like a bit of book weeding to sort out the mind. Deciding what to keep, what to reassign, and what to withdraw empties out thoughts. That, and doing it while listening to Ludovico Einaudi, is quite relaxing. I present this as a calm port in a raging sea.
