You bet, Paulita. But going to be revived, relaxed and restored for a couple of days to get ready for the work that we are going to do for the upcoming months.

Attended memorial services for a dear friend’s sister last night. I am so grateful that she a agreed to go with a group of us when plans were made during the winter months.
Right about now, this is just what she needs.
I woke up this morning still in love with hope!

So Japa, all Annie “show me” got out of the presser was the word, FOLKS?

How terribly feckless, idiotic, asinine, childishly unprofessional.

Not all who can construct a Tweet, should.

      • August 1, 2014 at 4:45 pm

I was thinking the same thing Nena….you would think that was the ONLY thing he said in the whole press briefing. But of course we know it’s all about trying to create another distraction.

I thought PBO looked really good in that color of blue suit.

Then, he began to speak and I forgot all about the color of the suit.

    He speaks real good 🙂

I especially liked when he called them out for how they gave him so much grief about the economy, jobs, etc, and yet, today – not a word. BOOM!

Having once lived in Florida for nearly two decades and possibly returning to it one day (but, this time, this request is NOT all about me – I have grandkids and friends there!), I’d like to encourage anyone interested to contribute to Charlie Crist’s campaign for 2014! Thanks. I’m trying to help get the alien Rick Scott outta the governor’s mansion!

Exceptionally proud of our President today. His moral stewardship of America is even more important than his economic, military and diplomatic leadership and today he addressed one of the gravest lapses in moral leadership in American history – GWB and Cheney’s torture regime.

She is also totally unaware. It is hardly the first time he has used the word to describe actions that were taken under the previous administration. I don’t have the specific quotes, dates etc, but he has said it several times, including, I believe, in his speech in Cairo.

Thank you Chips, for this tweet.

@AnnieLowrey is the biggest snob (that I know of) in MSM. @EzraKlein has always been snarky, but hanging around her he became unbearably condescending, smug and self-righteous. I can’t bear to even think of him, so have no idea what he’s been tweeting lately, but this is the most immature, unprofessional and uninformative tweet since the last one I read from her.

I hope they both go down in flames. She doesn’t deserve a @NYTimes gig, has no talent except for knowing she’s better than everyone else.

She is so un-selfaware that she’s snarking about real people, real events, real policies.

MSM has jumped the shark this week, chomping at the bit to take off for the Hamptons or the south of France, clutching at #coleslawgate and #folksgate and reporting them as scandals. JHC.

    Float On, Paulita. Float On…..
    Congratulation for being #1.
Packing for vacation to Sedona, Arizona for six days of spa and relation with eleven stressed out, beat down women.
We planned this during the long cold winter and now I feel guilty because of all of the senseless killings of innocent women and children in Gaza.
Not to add this stupid GOP Congress adding insult to injury. They do not have a clue what they are doing and most of them don’t care.
While our President works so hard, keeps it real and they still find fault with him.

I am so glad he has Michelle, Mrs. Robinson and the girls to keep him loved. As much as I would love for him to remain President for life, no one should have to endure so much bullshit when you are trying so hard to do the right thing. I will be in “lurking mode” next week. Unless, of course, I just have to vent. I am going to go see Mr. JB this weekend to get my dance on before I leave.
You all will continuously be in my prayers as for peace in the ME and the President will be able to find funds for the border patrol.
Keep the candles lit for our President , his family and this Administration.
    PEACE.

Thank you, Paulita. I sure needed that light of encouragement.

1997. Boom times. Where I worked so many people quit to work full-time all year round. I worked year round. People were wondering how to fill all the low-level jobs things were so good. The Internet Boom. America at peace. Then came Shrub.

GGail mentioned we were all giving @amandacarpenter “the blues,” which prompted me to find Elton’s old song. I’m not posting this on Twitter for sad amanda – don’t want to call any more attention to her – but if one listens to the words, I personally can see President Obama singing this to the White House Press Corps as he walks out the door on his way to his birthday celebration and vacation!

    “And while I’m away
Dust out the demons inside … ”

“And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
    Time on my hands
Could be time spent with you … ”

So amusing how the awful reporters have that love-hate relationship with the President; they try to hate him, but they really just want to BE him. I am totally convinced of that.

i never see people mention how the unemployment rate would be substantially lower than the already relatively low 6.1-6.2% it’s been recently, if republican governors across america weren’t purposely laying of state workers to try and hurt our economy as much as they can, and then blame our president.

a report that made the rounds last year (cant’ remember from where but a respectable place) said all those public-worker lay offs could account for an additional 1% to the unemployment number, so if true we could right now be around 5.1% unemployment if republicans were not unnecessarily laying off state workers all around america. then of course how much lower would it be still if the federal and state governments were allowed to hire at a rate that was historically acceptable, my god, we’d be in the 4% range right now. thanks you democrats and president obama! we need to get you the House back!

    • 59 Vicki
      August 1, 2014 at 5:15 pm

Very important point, 4more. All the GOP tax cuts shrunk city and state revenues which led to massive layoffs of needed city and state workers. A vicious cycle.
This is what POTUS has been working to turn around into what he calls a Virtuous Cycle.
Imagine if all the workers whose efforts cities are suffering without were restored to their jobs!!!

The pettiness and stupidity are reaching such levels that us folks who are not infected with ODS can no longer understand what the latest fake outrage is supposed to be about. Is this “Folks-gate” nonsense supposed to be a shiny object to deflect blame from GWB/GOP for sanctioning torture? If that is the case, the GOP/MSM are in deep doo-doo.

This was an excellent article. Meant to include this quote

….Why is Obama reiterating this now? Because the report is on the way, and because by being blunt he can go further than the authors of the report will go. (They do not use the word “torture.”) And because Obama’s approach to the topic, like his approach to the issues discussed in the NDU speech, is an assurance that the worst practices ended when he took over.

I saw that and remembered he had said the “t” word previously. But today so many folks, who obviously haven’t been paying attention, are acting like they’re in shock: “He said Torture!” Something—–anything—-to jump on. Pitiful political atmosphere here.

      • August 1, 2014 at 6:07 pm

I have no clue if they’re being ‘willfully ignorant fucksticks’ (thank you Bill Weir), Dotster, or what.

It’s like EJ Dionne the other day thinking ‘don’t boo, vote’ was new.

And during the last campaign a reporter – can’t remember who – said PBO’s use of ‘take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes’ at the Congressional Black Caucus dinner was directed at and demeaning to African Americans – when he had used the same phrase in numerous campaign speeches, to crowds of every class, creed and color.

They either never listen to him, despite being paid to, or, indeed, they are willfully ignorant fucksticks.

What I witnessed today from President Obama was better than porn, let me rephrase that, it was as good as porn, there. When I heard that President Obama was going to be making a statement, I just knew he was going to be calling out some “folks.” This was classic Obama, the counter-puncher in chief. There was no way President Obama was going to let the Republican sashay on down the road to vacation without dropping a mic or two, and did he ever. A sitting President telling the world that his country tortured some “folks,” my god! Ladies and gentlemen you are watching a man that is so unencumbered it is almost scary. I am absolutely blown away by President Obama’s statement, I shouldn’t be, but I am.

I don’t know if anyone here has seen the movie “Network,” but for those that have. I thought President Obama was going to pass-out after saying “we tortured some folks.
