Not luck, Alma-b, please. Say ‘strategy’, ‘focus’, or ‘superb conditioning’ – we women gotta use the right words when acknowledging our accomplishments! 😀
Talking too much on previous thread. When I was younger my grandmother did use to say I talked too much. Wonder if she realizes that I’ve toned it down…. most of the time? 😉 😉
Please don’t tone down. ‘Womanspeak’ is our gift. Michelle Obama said yesterday that we shouldn’t hold our daughters and granddaughters to the same restriction we were given. I love that! Talk up VC!
So let the western wild fire burn the place down, these Republicans are something else. If people allow these Republicans to run everything all I can say is Lord have mercy on this country.
“We warmly welcome this new process as a solid expression of continued political commitment by all Palestinian groups in the Palestinian national unity government.
We strongly support and hope that this process expeditiously culminates in a sustainable ceasefire desperately needed for the innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza, who have been suffering from indiscriminate killings since the beginning of the Israeli bombardment on Gaza.
We welcome and value the substantial role played by the US Administration and appreciate the facilitating contribution by Egypt in hosting this new process.”
My TOD mornings are disrupted – part of the downsizing requires lawn instead of dirt to the street front – who’d have thought. So now the watering every morning (really pains me to use the water – but otherwise – dead turf). Quite therapeutic to wander around with a hose, gaze at the sky & actually speak to the neighbors – but now tis done & back to TOD.
“There were those of us who thought that when Eric Cantor was defeated in his primary for re-election that he would leave office without ever telling John Boehner the location of the Mason Jar in which Cantor had buried the Speaker’s balls.” …
…
Cantor did his duty to posterity. He passed along the secret of where the Mason Jar is buried. He passed it along to Ted Cruz.”
Brilliantly acerbic commentary by Pierce, as usual. I love the comment about the House being a home for the mentally infirm. Never a truer word was written.
Why does nothing happen for 30 days – then on day 31 – everything important happens? Has congress always operated in this fashion? I’ve never known much about it prior to TOD.
In a Yahoo News exclusive with Katie Couric, Ginsburg, whose recent dissent in the Hobby Lobby case pushed her Internet fame to new levels, said she is getting a kick out of her pop culture status.
“Most of it I think is very funny. There is a rap song, and there is one using the words from the Hobby Lobby dissent. I haven’t seen anything that isn’t either pleasing or funny on the Web site,” the justice said, adding that she likes the Notorious R.B.G. meme. “I think she has created a wonderful thing with Notorious R.B.G. I will admit I had to be told by my law clerks, what’s this Notorious, and they explained that to me, but the Web site is something I enjoy, all of my family do.”
I have not read this blog before, but I think he gives a very insightful comment. Well worth reading.
“Obviously, if a large number of elected officials refuse to acknowledge the legitimacy of the president, the country either falls apart or becomes ungovernable. Although we aren’t in any real danger of civil war today, we are back in a place where the legitimacy of the president has been rejected, leading to strife and a dysfunctional government. As I’ve said before, the Republican Party has ceased to be a party in the traditional sense. It is merely the vehicle for an extremist conservative movement that values its ideology above all else. It has been this way since the Republican takeover of Congress in 1994, ”
“As stupid and comical John Boehner’s lawsuit against the president may seem, we shouldn’t be laughing. It is an escalation in the ongoing legitimacy crisis manufactured by conservative ideologues who feel that the end justifies the means. Our political system is practically ungovernable, and as the United States navigates economic inequality, the loss of its imperial power, and recovery from the financial crisis, the refusal of Republicans to ever accept the legitimacy of a Democratic president has been and will continue to seriously hamper our society’s ability to respond to its most pressing problems. Or as somebody more famous than I once said, a house divided against itself cannot stand.”
looking forward to that too
Congrats on first vetivera!
Thanks Betsy!
Congrats Vetivera24!
Thanks Jackie. Just luck…..VC and Chips must have been sleeping.
Not luck, Alma-b, please. Say ‘strategy’, ‘focus’, or ‘superb conditioning’ – we women gotta use the right words when acknowledging our accomplishments! 😀
I’ll go with lazy. After a busy night shift, and crappy sleep, all I can do is sit at TOD and enjoy everything Chips & Co offer every day.
Hey, that’s not lazy (since *I* do it all the time)! That’s research and development – politically, socially, and spiritually. 😀
Upgraded immediately.
🙂 🙂
Hello?
You walked in with Alma-b! Nice work, Betsy, and a special ‘hello’ to you.
Why thank you VC. How are you today?
Great, thank you, Betsy!
SWEETEST video EVAH!!!!
Thank you so much, Chips!! xoxo
My very enormous pleasure Meta, still misty-eyed!
Alma-beeeee! Good work, there! 😀
Where were you vc?

‘Talk up VC!’
Careful what you unleash, A-b! 😀
Unlike Boner and his recalcitrant caucus, I’m good wishing for you to speak up.
TY, A-b.
That little video of Tim hugging the President is precious!
It’s like a tonic for a very scary week. SO wonderful.
Brings tears…
Got to be some GOPers who will lose their seats over this one!
Vetivera rolls into GOLD! Congrats!
Hey, that wasn’t supposed to go there.
Yes. You might say their campaigns will go up in flames. [bad pun] 🙄
Tis a bad pun – but apt – I replied to you on the last thread Dudette – loved your 3 second video 🙂
Just saw your reply!
Awesome! 😀

They ain’t playing …

Yet it always seems to come after Israel has bombarded Gaza. My paranoia says the former need time to regroup and decide where to go next.

🙂 Enough with the hosing, sky-gazing and neighbor-chatting 99ts, focus on your TOD duties please.
Sorry about that – just wanted to let vetivera into 1st place – were you sleeping through that one?
OK, that video is awesome Chips!!! TY……is this the same Tim?
Ah, GREAT find LP, that’s Tim!!
Suddenly my eyes are leaky!

Pierce on The Sad Clownhood of John Boehner
http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/Cruz_Control
Comment on the article: “Cruz hosted a pizza-fueled strategy session Wednesday night with some House conservatives…”
It was held at Chuck-E-Cheese’s; unfortunately, there are no meeting-minutes as all the crayons were gobbled up by Gohmert”
Pierce does have a way with words 🙂
Brilliantly acerbic commentary by Pierce, as usual. I love the comment about the House being a home for the mentally infirm. Never a truer word was written.
Pierce’s language brings forth many truths.
I think these are people who refuse to use their mental powers – rather than they do not have any – which is such a disaster for their country.
Tis the ones who vote for them that have serious mental issues.
Monday is our President’s 53rd birthday!
Let’s have a party!!!!!!
POTUS need some time off, why don’t he and his family go on their vacation this week-end? Those clowns in Congress (Repugs) are gone for a month.
Course they say a President never have time off, he is always on duty or call.
Whew.
Sens. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) voted against the deal.
anybody see the latest from Jim Wright over at Stone Kettle Station? He’s written a barn burner.
It’s a terrific article, Alice. One of Wright’s best.
Senate appears to be overwhelmingly approving the Highway/Transportation Bill
Why does nothing happen for 30 days – then on day 31 – everything important happens? Has congress always operated in this fashion? I’ve never known much about it prior to TOD.
Because they’re sheer idiots who are the very definition of stonewalling. Outrageous games they play every day.
Yep.
