McTurtle face reminds me of Oops-Perry when in the presence of greatness – you have to pity these GOP guys who are so unfamiliar with genuine laughter that they never know how to react when it confronts them. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • July 31, 2014 at 2:24 pm

Once again, PBO won’t play the game the way they want him to. Whatever they throw at him, his reaction (if any) is not what they expect or want it to be.

The nerve of him laughing and joking when they threaten to sue him. The nerve of him calling their bluff such that now they have to go through the motions of following through on their threat(s) — making themselves look more petty and stupid.

Howdy, SW. ๐Ÿ™‚ And how many ‘once agains’ will it take till they ADMIT that they are outclassed, outmanoeuvred, OUT OF THEIR DEPTH? ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

          • July 31, 2014 at 2:34 pm

How are ya VC and congrats on the gold!

Since them being outclassed, outmaneuvered, and out of their depth is a daily occurrence,,, they qualify as the example of INSANITY….doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. ๐Ÿ˜€ They also prove that you can’t fix STUPID.

It’s either McConnell or Menendez at the other end.

        • July 31, 2014 at 1:21 pm

          Hiya Derbingle, here’s the caption:

U.S. President Barack Obama, second from right, shakes hands with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat from Nevada, during a meeting with members of Congress on foreign policy including Senator Robert Menendez, a Democrat from New Jersey, from left, Senator Bob Corker, a Republican from Tennessee, Reid, Obama, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky, in Cabinet Room of the White House in Washington, D.C.,

I should have known that unsmiling one was another GOP! Does it seem to you that PBO’s left hand was available and could easily have been extended to pull McTurtle in, if he’d shown the least bit of warmth?

Looks like PBO is meeting with Senate leaders, which excludes Boehner, thankfully.

Boehner was busy presiding over “Yeehaw, we’re off until Labor Day, you suckers (i.e., American citizens).

And Israel is now losing its one remaining ally. Breaking from BBC News:

The US has said that civilian casualties in Gaza are “too high”, and called on Israel to do more to protect civilian life.

“The Israelis need to do more to live up to their very high standards… for protecting civilian life,” a Pentagon spokesman said.

The UN has also criticised Israel over the worsening situation in Gaza, saying people there are “facing a precipice”.

A Pres. Romney would probably be sending US soldiers to help out the IDF.

… and definitely not in Bibi’s favor ….

      Moreover ….

      July 31, 2014 at 7:57 pm

Thanks LL. this is wonderful news and it is a small step forward.

I know some said nothing would change and the US would continue to walk lockstep with Israel and Bibi but I firmly believe that the more our citizens speak out and contact our officials informing them of what is going on and demanding that they do not use tax payer dollars to fund Bibi’s massacre things would change. As long as we continue to force them to look at the results of their inaction and to see how we were enabling Bibi’s acts of genocide, any human being would recoil from the atrocities and somehow find it in themselves to do the right thing.

Again, this has nothing to do with religion or country of origin… this has everything to do with humanity and empathy.

I forgot which TODer initially encouraged me to write to my local officials on this issue but you know who you are. Thank you again for helping me channel my anger and turning my anguish into action. I know it helped to make a difference.

      I “heart” TOD.

I in the hell would go to these countries to begin with?
It’s my vacation- where you going? Oh I think I’ll go to Liberia.

      • July 31, 2014 at 2:11 pm

There are those folks who have relatives or business connections in those countries. Not to mention the folks from there or going through there that are “just passing through”. And now for a little rant. What is it with those people who aren’t vaccinating their kids? Is autism so terrible that they would risk stuff like this? Now apparently there’s no vaccine for Ebola yet, but a kid who’s suffering from something else would be even more vulnerable to something going around. And let’s not forget that with modern transportation, no child is an island anymore. That kid who sits next to you in school or on the bus may have just come from a place like those places-and may have only come there a few days, weeks, or hours ago.

      • July 31, 2014 at 11:36 pm

Your mockery and denigration of these African countries, facing an outbreak of a deadly virus, is quite revealing! I am sure if there was a deadly outbreak of a virus in Florida your attitude would be more understanding than just making mocking and snide remarks. FYI, there are many people in the world who would love to go on vacation to these three African countries.

While awaiting POTUS I caught a (first time) piece of Josh’s WHPC session. I must say I was quite pleased to hear him repeatedly refer questioners to appropriate (other) departments for added information/clarification. Way to go, Josh; redirect them to do their own research/homework!

Anyone who paid for a year better keep some receipts. She’s been known to quit halfway. Six months from now she’s due for an extended “Christmas Vacation”.

                • 61 vcprezofan2
                  July 31, 2014 at 2:21 pm

Hi, Carol. Frankly, anyone who paid for a year knew, or should have known, they were making a donation (to a cause). Also too, receipts or no I don’t see anyone getting a refund. Palin has made it perfectly clear over these years that she is looking for someoneS to provide for the life to which she wants to become accustomed!

                  • July 31, 2014 at 2:24 pm

I agree there probably won’t be any sort of refund. The money would have been spent on that vacation. But it might be useful in a class action suit! BTW, when this fails, what will be her next move?

                      July 31, 2014 at 2:36 pm

Hi Carol. Well, we have to concede that she does seem to find a way each time to dip her hand in the public’s** purse. Since we first met her Palin has had not one, or even two ‘get rich quick’ schemes. Indeed I’ve lost track. Her problem is that she is never satisfied and goes through her ill-gotten gains quite quickly. Personally I believe I actually would cheer if one of these schemes went awry and Palin had to go to jail. IMO she is too much of a fake and too greedy by far!

**or that part of the public stupid enough to buy her scams

                    • July 31, 2014 at 2:43 pm

Most of them seem to be based on her “looks”. And that’s going pretty quickly.

I wonder about that whole family. Is there anyone in it that could earn a real living? If they have honest skills, I missed it.

It’s worse for them than formerly hot actors. At least a formerly hot actor could do commercials or something. What can they do when the fame runs out?

                    • 65 vcprezofan2
                      July 31, 2014 at 2:53 pm

What makes you think they want to ‘do’ anything, Carol? Mother has shown them how to prostitute themselves, rake in cash with very little effort on their part, and the only possible drawback is being in the media spotlight. When the ‘fame’ runs out they’ll simple go the ‘reality’ show route. IMO the older girls look like they’d enjoy cat fights on TV if it brought in the bucks.

    • July 31, 2014 at 11:50 pm

“The cdc says stay the hell out of Africa.”

Africa is almost four times the size of the United States, with more than 50 independent sovereign countries, and with a population of more than 1 billion people. CDC warned against travels to only three African countries–Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. For you to conflate this to apply to the whole continent of Africa is absurd and ignorant!

My hope is that after the Congress leaves and the economic news is great we hear from the President at length. CSPAN won’t have any live congressional things to cover and it may be a slowish newsday so an hour on live TV primetime or near to it, that is what I’d like.

    Good Afternoon TODVille!

Recovering from the stunt pulled by The Orange Man last night.

After looking at the above picture of my POTUS sitting with a big shark on his left and another rightward (2 chairs down)s, I know that politics is the scientific art of control. It’s also the mastery of anything goes. How could the Speaker show his face this morning after the words he professed last night?

These days that man is what passes for Speaker on the right. My world.

Yeap! this is the Speaker of the House. A shepherd with no sheep. A leader with only radicals behind him.

House Republicans pulled Speaker John A. Boehnerโ€™s slimmed-down legislation to address the brewing immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border rather than see it defeated, amid a conservative revolt that the $659 million proposal did not address the core issues.

Faced with certain defeat, Boehner pulled the legislation from consideration Thursday afternoon, according to guidance from leadership advisers. With more than 20 House conservatives opposed, Boehner did not have enough votes from his own Republican ranks because virtually all Democrats opposed the legislation.
