Night owl chat – What the world needs now is FLASH MOBS

When the world is being torn asunder, it’s time to remember our common humanity. Another in my series of people being joyously human in musical flash mobs.

***

Flash mob marriage proposal – Chicago

***

Glee flash mob – Seattle

***

Christmas flash mob – “Hallelujah” Chorus

***

Do Re Mi – Antwerp

***

Beyonce flash mob – Target

***

Thriller flash mob – Denver

***

And my all time favorite: Ode to Joy flash mob – Sabadell, Spain

***

Be human, night owls!

😳 ah cc, just found my way back here do I guess you have your answer. It’s a touch screen so sometimes I’m moving merrily along and betting ready to brag when suddenly up pops another screen. Then i bave no idea where I am. It also self corrects – VERY FRUSTRATING!! And speaks different languages if I touch the wrong button!

If I don’t answer you it’s because I’m lost somewhere within the phone.

According to WestWingReport, people who hate PBO will fly from Puerto Rico to MO to see him give a 20-minute on America’s economy…Okay then.

Course they would, they would fly to see the worst President in current history, they would fly to see the President who if the election were held today he would lose to the opponent he defeated in 2012, they would fly to see the weak leader.

All these polls are just a way of tearing down President Obama. Hopefully Democrats won’t fall for it.And come out to vote November.

        • July 30, 2014 at 6:46 am

Well, Anniebella, John McCain and Mitt Romney must feel cheated! They now know that they would have been the presidential winners based on the 2014 media polls. I feel their pain! Why couldn’t the two presidential elections –in 2008 and 2012– be held in July 2014? Both John McCain and Mitt Romney would have been elected Presidents This would have spared the US of the agony of living under President Obama. There is absolutely no doubt that both John McCain and Mitt Romney would have by now solved all the domestic and international problems. Just as the great GOP Saint Ronald Reagan, the great, did.

      LP,

Saw your post on the Yosemite wildfire on the previous thread.

LATimes had a headline that there are 200 fires burning in CA now, but it’s moved from the front page now, replaced by the lead story about our decaying infrastructure (i.e., water main pipe burst on Sunset by UCLA — very familiar with that area, since I went to UCLA and lost so much weight as a freshman — over 300 steps to get to my dorm from the low spot, Pauley Pavillion).

Very worrisome that there are so many fires in July — our fire season is typically Sept and Oct when the Santa Ana winds start. Santa Anas usually arrive after our rain — there’s something about how the air circulates that draws in the wind towards the ocean from the high desert (to the north of LA) after a rainstorm — so we can expect Santa Anas between Sept – Mar.

I worked near Zuma Beach (Malibu, near the Ventura county line) in 1978, and on the windiest day of the year — even good sized men had trouble standing upright in the wind — I saw a tiny wisp of smoke over the mountains around noon. By 3:30 we were evacuated and flames were coming down the hillside. Fire typically slows as it goes downhill, but the Santa Anas force the fire to the ocean. Over 300 homes were lost on Broad Beach then. The pattern repeats itself every 20 years or so — that’s why we really shouldn’t allow homes to be built between the Ventura Freeway (Highway 101) and the ocean in the Malibu area — they are pretty much impossible to save if they’re between the origin of the fire and the ocean.

My wedding decades ago (during the war in Vietnam) wasn’t exactly a flash mob, but as a finale, we did sing the following song to FInlandia by Sibelius:

    SONG OF PEACE

This is my song, O God of all the nations,
A song of peace for lands afar and mine.
    This is my home, the country where my heart is;
Here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine.
But other hearts in other lands are beating
With hope and dreams as true and high as mine.

My country’s skies are bluer than the ocean,
And sunlight beams on cloverleaf and pine.
But other lands have sunlight, too, and clover,
And skies are ev’rywhere as blue as mine.
O hear my song, thou God of all the nations,
A song of peace for their land and for mine.

And it never ends. Decades ago, when my son was in his 20s and he and his new bride lived about five miles away from me, I’d still worry when I heard an ambulance go by that he’d been in a car accident or something! Once a parent, always a parent! (I keep telling my two granddaughters who are mommies, “Only 40 or so more years to go, raising your boys!” Ha. They think I’m kidding.)

So, I think we will see brighter days ahead.
Bob gave us a link to the NYTimes article speaking truth about israel’s actions in gaza.
The New Yorker Magazine and NY Magazine also have empathetic and critical pieces.

This is how Israel’s hold on America is loosened. If they can’t stifle all the MSM, let alone the internet, their days are numbered.

The Congress and all the politicians that depend on Israel friendly sources for campaign funding will eventually have to adjust to a new reality. I’m not saying today but sooner than I thought yesterday.

Americans don’t want to go to war in Libya, Syria, Ukraine or Gaza, no matter how much the Military Sales business wants us to fund their escapades.
Good night TOD. Peace and better days for all who are struggling and suffering tonight.

    Despise them all.

I don’t believe those polls in Israel. I really think they were cooked up by Israel’s media to garner support for the murder of Palestinians. 94 percent sounds way too high, pretty much a joke. Way too high for it to be real.

    Good morning TOD!
What the world needs now is LOVE.
Have a great Wed. even though it is a struggle, love lifted me this morning.
It is a blessing to be able to come here to positive, kind, intelligent minds.

  33. July 30, 2014 at 7:06 am

    ….I wish I could share
All the love that’s in my heart
    Remove all the bars
    That keep us apart
    I wish you could know
What it means to be me
    Then you’d see and agree
That every man should be free….
