So glad that you seized the moment…..
I forgot to add my comment to the pic up above.
Now that is how you hug! Nothing but mutual respect and admiration.
My philosophy is: “If you are going to hug do it and mean it!”

      Love that pic, Ms. Chips.
      Good morning and thank you.

          Hello, my friend.
So good to know that you are on your post brining us the bestest hug pic ever this morning.
We all need a hug today and days to come.
I think I will hug myself just because I can.
For some strange reason I could hardly wait for the sun to rise this morning to see what the day has planned.
I pray this for everyone here and those whose hope is faint and dim……Hold on!

LL was right (as always) in yesterday’s post.

Israel vs. Palestine conflict has been happening since Israel was inaugurated as a state in 1948.

But this time it feels different because Israel is showing disregard for the “rules” of war, slaughtering and destroying civilian lives and their property over much less than “WMDs in Iraq,” and apparently timed to coincide with the deadline for US/Iran nuclear discussions.

Netanyahu and Putin are dangerous megalomaniacs with vocal supporters in the US (neocons and GG’s white dudebro’s brigade).

@DaveWeigel’s tweet that young people are overwhelming against Israel should be reported by the US media. Who is on the wrong side of history, again?

      • July 29, 2014 at 7:52 am

Just as our government used the issue of terror and fear to pass the Patriot Act …invade Iraq use torture and a host of other things…the Israeli Gov uses Hamas as a reason to seize land…and occupy a people for over 50 yrs….setting up Apartheid /Jim Crow like living conditions….there can never be Peace under these conditions…so Israeli Government has decided to dispense with negotiations for peace by just bombing the Palestinian People out of existence….

Arapaho, it’s stunning that Israel doesn’t realize the price it will pay for this carnage. Netanyahu seems bent on an insane rampage and feels certain he can thumb his nose at both the world in general and his allies in particular. Every day he moves farther and farther away from the norms of a civilized world and neither he nor his country is powerful enough to survive what he’s set in motion. Putin is playing a similar game, but he has more cards at his disposal and a lot more clout. Netanyahu has a Putin like mind, but he doesn’t have that madman’s resources.

          July 29, 2014 at 8:38 am

Netanyahu and Putin serve as international Republicans and Libertarians. They are basically taking their cues from certain factions in the US, who do resent their current President/administration and were unable to obstruct PBO domestically despite enormous efforts to do so. Therefore, they are trying to impede his FP successes.

And I see the egging on both sides – the Libertarian “left” who hypocritically claim to be on the side of GAZA (Greenwald, KatrinaNation et al), but who make every excuse for anti-humanitarian Putin, and the corporate RW right who are bought and sold by Koch/APPAC, etc, and who want to see the US in a perpetual war.

Neither of these groups want peace in the middle east. Both groups have manufactured propaganda for their respective “causes.” A lot of what is going on in the international stage is being used by US Media and monied interests to erode support for PBO both domestically and internationally. Both groups WANT to see PBO fail at FP and are upset that there will not be the GOP wave in November midterms that they were so desperately hoping for.

HF, the problem for the instigators is that when forces like these are unleashed, they can’t be controlled. ALL American interests are threatened when anti-Americanism is ignited and that includes the Republican business interests. I have no doubt that Netanyahu is a Republican tool, but he and they are playing a dangerous game. The Republicans funded and instigated the tea party and look how that turned out for them.

I completely agree with your analysis JG – and what is happening on the international stage will no doubt backfire in pretty much the same way it has on the domestic stage. The only difference is the amount of unnecessary human carnage & suffering that resulted in the process.

I can’t help but feel that if Bush/Cheney hadn’t changed the premise/rules for war/invasion, this would not be so blatantly happening. Those effing invasions changed the geopolitical theater. Any country could invade another. That administration lost whatever moral ground the US had left. It has been a herculean effort by POB to try and reverse this on a global scale. Imagine what he could have achieved the last few years if those effers weren’t hell bent on their color bar quest!

Prettyfoot58, I have been sleep less and less so I wake up and be still, meditate and pray.
If you will allow me to share with you Scripture that allows me to go back to bed and rest in peace is:
Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”
    KJV
My HOPE is built on nothing else but LOVE.
Our history is God’s future. He knows what this will lead to if only to awaken the young generation in Israel how they have been ignorant to the powers that he just like we have been here in the U.S. by so many arrogant, prideful politicians on the Right, Left and Inbetween.
Our ears, eyes and heart been closed to a lot of things due to fear and propaganda.
But 2008 was our movement of change. I hope and pray this is theirs.
It is going to take the women and young people all over the world to step up and opposed the senseless killings. Whether it be here with gun control here in the cities of the U.S.A. or bombs being pounded on the Gaza Strip, it is our sons and daughters that we give birth to whose blood that is being shed for what? Absolutely Nothing!

LDS, Israel is putting itself in a world of hurt and you’re right, that it is likely the women and the younger people who will try to save it. I fear it may be too late for both the Palestinians and the Israelis.

      • July 29, 2014 at 8:18 am

Jackie, I am just crazy enough to believe that the youth both Palestinians and Israelis will bring about the change THEY have been waiting for. My friend visited Israel a couple of years ago and she felt like she was down south in the 1950’s. The segregation of Gentiles and Israelis in the hotel she stayed in was totally insane. So much they ate in an area divided by a partition. She never wanted go go back.
How can you serve God and not love your neighbor?
It is not anti-Semitic to speak out on injustices That goes for bigotry, racism, sexism, classism and any other kind of -ism.
        Hate is hate,
We must learn to respect and appreciate that we are different than each other and not better.
I am so glad that we have a President who we know believes and practices what he believes.

          July 29, 2014 at 8:35 am

LDS, thank you for this perspective. I didn’t realize it was so ugly and segregated in Israel. That is obscene and intolerable. I don’t know what it’s going to take to bring Israel into the civilized world, but something has to happen. I fear we are seeing something truly world changing happen right now and it’s very frightening.

          • July 29, 2014 at 9:07 am

Jackie, that is what bothers me that no one has had the nerve to speak out against the apartheid that goes on there. Including the Bloomberg’s and the rich money in Hollywood. It is time to tell the real story. While even in Williamsburg, Brooklyn the Orthodox Jews do not want what they consider “improperly dressed women” walking the streets in “their neighborhoods”. I do not have a problem if you chose to live separate and apart from everyone else, but at least do it in love. My money is good to spend in your country, town village. But my presence offends you? Sound likes another Jim Crow experience to me.
Is there anyone who is brave enough to speak up and be honest?

Jesus spoke up in his days and called the Sadducees and the Pharisees hypocrites and vipers.
Maybe the Jews for Jesus need to speak out and be heard concerning the innocent killings of women and children.
This is not right! Enough is Enough!

      Important point, JER.
      Only power plant!
This, in addition to electric off in most of Gaza.

In the last annihilation action against Gaza, in 2012, Israel bombed the Only Bread factory.

To LDS and jackieg about the segregation in Israel. it is much worse than has been reported. There are separate and highly guarded roads for jews and gov’t officials to use. If you call this “apartheid” which it is, in Israel they say you are wrong because gov’t officials, both jews and arabs can use the special roads.

Anti-American radicalism is flourishing and threatening American civilians and US troops for our continued support of Israel in this senseless war. It’s bad enough what Netanyahu is doing to his own country and to Palestinians, he’s also trying to cause major damage to the US. Tell me again why we support Israel, supply it with arms and risk everything for this man’s insane ambitions?

It’s more than just getting clicks and eyes – it’s an attempt at brainwashing and diminishing PBO in particular and congressional Dems who dare to support him, among gullible or inattentive voters.

I think that’s why Spandan made the effort to go into so much detail addressing the shady methodology behind the sampling – to get people to understand the “science” of antiObama brainwashing disguised as “polls” that has been going on ever since he took office but which seems to spike right before key election.

Congressman wants to end CHA “supervouchers”

CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois Congressman Aaron Schock is seeking an end to a Chicago Housing Authority program that puts some of the city’s poorest residents into its highest priced apartments.

Schock says CHA “supervouchers” allows a select few families to receive $3,000 to $4,000 a month in rent assistance that puts them in “some of the nicest luxury units.”

Schock says the agency awards vouchers up to 300 percent of market value. The Peoria Republican wants to bring that down to 120 percent.

Tony Rossi of Chicago-based RMK Management Corp. told Crain’s Chicago Business (http://bit.ly/UFQqn5 ) that he and other landlords believe the vouchers are a mistake because there are about 15,000 people on the CHA’s voucher waiting list.

The CHA says the program is less than two percent of its voucher portfolio.

Here is an example of how people are duped and brainwashed by the polling media. This supposedly is a pro-Clinton poll but it’s really a Republican-sponsored propaganda piece, designed to turn people away from President Obama’s policies and agenda. HRC is actually a weak candidate (despite media reporting) and she will not do nearly as well in 2016, or if she does, she’ll be as good as any GOPer. The people who tweeted this poll are assuming that this poll indicates that HRC will trounce the GOP in 2016 – no it’s not saying any of that.

The poll claims that 42% of people most admire Bill Clinton compared to 18% Barack Obama.

Yes…just think about that for a moment….how ridiculous it is on the surface and on a deeper level…

If she runs and beats her competitors more power to her. Only the democratic base as a whole gets to determine her shelf life.

                  well good luck with that.

I will never forgive Hillary Clinton for releasing the hounds to disrespect Barack Obama when she of all people should know better. She and her husband was the initiators who incited all this rabid hatred against the president and she has never after all these years apologized publicly for it. She is a war hawk, cannot handle her finances, is a compulsive liar and has no moral compass. Always hiding out on the tough issues and speaking out after the fact when she has weighed which direction politically she believes folks are leaning. Even after that, she gets it wrong most of the time. To this day, she still takes jabs at this president and his policies and sought ways through her contacts sought to undermine him. Thankfully, it does not work.

Hillary would be a terrible candidate and one I would if she succeeded, proudly vote against or not vote at all. Thankfully that will be a non issue as we have a good pipeline of qualified democratic candidates. Of which Joe Biden is my first choice.

What was the poll which had Obama the worst President in current history. Now Clinton is the most admired in the last 25 years. You know when I was up early this morning I was turning the tv and came across the re-boardcast of Monday Hardball and at the end of the show Chris Matthews were talking about POTUS. I know sometimes you wonder about Chris Matthews , but I listen to him and he told it like it is, he spoke the truth. He explain exactly why it is that 57% Republicans want to see Barack Obama thrown out of office. He goes on to say that while they use all kind of excuses, the bottom line is they never have accepted the fact that this black man is President of these United States. And you know I agree with Matthews 100% on that, because I have been saying that for along time.. That is the reason why all these B.S. polls are coming out. I bet soon you will see a poll that they will say is all Democrats and Obama approval numbers with them is terrible.

My hope is someone gets back to Harry on what is on this page. Maybe he will listen.

Morning:) Have to go to a BORING in service for work today…even though WORK hasn’t officially started! WTH.

Anyway, did I see something yesterday about Darth Cheney’s energy company…( or at least tons of stock!) doing something in Israel??

    Then I find this? http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/07/28/israel-natural-gas/

The cause of the current conflict within Israel has been long debated. Was it over tunnels from Gaza into Israel? Was it over the murder of three teenagers?

With last years signing of drilling rights to the disputed Golan Heights region to Rupert Murdoch owned Genie Energy, Israel gave its first indication that it would ignore international pressure in the pursuit of fossil fuels. Then, when negotiations broke down over Gaza’s natural gas reserves, Israel began its limited military operations which quickly spiraled out of control.

Activists often resist this sort of thing as happy-talk; they fear it will breed complacency, or justify existing ills. I believe the evidence shows it does neither, that confidence breeds the courage necessary to move forward. But I also believe, utility aside, that optimism is analytically sound. Optimism is the most fundamental truth of American history.

It was good for me to read this today!

Talking about Clinton every day incessantly is a distraction.
It’s exactly what they want you to do.
But it’s exceptable bc many here dislike Hillary and bill, almost more than GW and Cheney .
But I guess I better shut my mouth or I’ll get yelled at again? Lol

      1. Talking about something is not the same as being distracted by it. Please note that distinction.

      2. Furthermore, show me a poll that says that GWB and/or Cheney are running in 2016 and can “beat Obama”, and I will show you thousands and millions of comments about it on TOD and elsewhere….

If they can bag a turtle then I’ll give Grimes and Clinton all kinds of credit.

I know Grimes is doing what she have to do to win, but if I were to be honest part of me is piss about this. You run away from this President like he is cautious. I guess he is cautious, cautious Black.

Good morning all of TODville, lurkers and all. This Gaza thing has me so upset and sad. With social media we are seeing the effects of all this destruction immediately. How can Israel really have an 80% in favor of this massacre. I am so thankful for PBO and SOS Kerry. We would be in WWIII if it was Romney or McCain.

Thank you Chips, NW, LL and all bt’s for helping keep all of us sane.

And the national media will pretend nothing great was happening.

I am looking forward to Friday, wishing for 5.9% UR, but realistically, it might just be at 6.0%
