I hope he doesn’t talk too long. It’s super duper hot outside right now and very little to no breeze. Sweating and fainting will soon be the order of the day in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles.

Yes. That is the woman. She is a GOPer. John Avalon and Margret Hoover, his wife, are part of these people who pretend to be moderate GOPers on CNN. Patricia Murphy, depending on the network would present a facade. She has always been a GOPer. If she is going around now and calling herself a Dem, she is pretending.

They give themselves away when talking and disrespecting president Obama.

She used to be on with Rev. Al as was Abby Huntsmann at one time and Erin McPike. All GOPers with perma-smiles that set my teeth on edge. Or DLC, or PUMA’s whatever they pretend. Not good.

I clicked on your link to check her TL. I thought this was a very fair barometer of Ms Murphy’s (emotional?) intelligence. Overlook the typo and focus on the depth of her message. >>

I am grateful that he got out of the heat. It is boiling hot here. However, I am so elated that the people who were there were supportive by coming out to hear their president. Now, I want him to come home to FLOTUS and catch his breath. Rest his vocal cords.

Love my president!!!!!!!! We are so grateful, Chips and Nerdy for this beautiful space that you give us each and every day. Anyone who has to go out in this heat, please do it quickly and stay hydrated. Check on the seniors near you, if that is the case. A lot of seniors tend to not drink water, so remind them to do so. Maybe take a few bottles or a case by your seniors in your neighborhood and give them a smile. Love you, my TOD family.HZ

You are right about it being hot here HZ. I just walked outside and the heat met me at the door. 🙂

    • July 24, 2014 at 5:25 pm

Excellent reminder re hydration HZ – and spot on re seniors having a tendency to not drink much water. How much do we need? Good guideline is to drink half your body weight in ounces. If you weigh 120 lbs, then drink at least 60 ounces of water daily, If you drink coffee or alcohol, drink more (meaning more water, LL) to compensate for their dehydrating effects. As FLOTUS says, drink up TODers!

HZ, I am hoping POTUS, FLOTUS and the girls will be able to go on their vacation in August, you know how crazy things are in the world right now, and pretty soon you will be hearing from the right and the media President going on vacation while the world fall apart. While Boehner and Congress goes on month long vacation and the media doesn’t say a darn word.

Have CNN Wolf Blitzer move to the Israel?

  14. July 24, 2014 at 5:34 pm

Once again, I am faaaaaar behind on my post reading. I think once I retire I’ll devote a year or two to catching up on all the posts I’ve missed lately! So I hope I’m not repeating anything by posting this article on Eric Holder with photos of him and PBO 😀 Did i ever say how much I love Eric Holder?? The Obamacy keeps throwing up surprises. Have I ever felt in the least bit moved to say something like that about an attorney general before? I haven’t taken this much person interest in a president’s cabinet and appointments since sixth grade when I was required to know them! Anyway, here is “All the Times Eric Holder Kept It Completely 100.

“That time he joked about the president’s basketball skills: No one trash-talks like a New Yorker. And so it’s no surprise that Holder found it preposterous that anyone would suggest that a guy from Hawaii, President Barack Obama, was better at basketball than a baller like himself, from the mean streets of Queens, N.Y.
“He’s from Hawaii. I’m from New York. You figure out who has the better game.”’

Thanks, Maryl. I enjoy reading articles on AG Holder. There is a group of people with integrity whom I have met only because of the Obama presidency; AG Holder is one in that group.

The black British boy recently found out that he’s a genius.
By: Taryn Finley – Posted: July 19 2014 3:00 AM

An 11-year-old black boy from the United Kingdom is smarter than Albert Einstein.

Just let that sink in for a minute.

The proof is in a Mensa test that Ramarni Wilfred took earlier this year. The results of the test revealed that Ramarni has an IQ that is higher than Stephen Hawking’s, Bill Gates’ and Albert Einstein’s, according to the Romford Recorder.

Ramarni was invited to take the IQ test after writing an essay for Oxford University that received an impressive score. He scored an IQ of 162, placing him in the top 1 percent in the U.K. He said that he was surprised by his score because he wasn’t confident about the test when he completed it. Ramarni has earned all of the bragging rights, but with his brilliance comes much modesty.

    ……………………………… (snip) ……………………………………………….

Ramarni appeared gracious and excited for what doors he may open in his future. “Who knows? Perhaps my ‘true genius’ moment will come when I grow up, but for now, I am just proud of myself and happy that my mum and sister are proud of me, too.”

      Thanks, JER.

I caught the end of the live feed, just as AF1 was taxiing for take-off.

What’s amazing to me is how clear (i.e., not smoggy) LAX was.

I can remember traveling to LA in the 1960s when you would have no idea the city is surrounded by 11,000 foot mountains — you could pretty much only see across the street.

That’s the dystopia the GOP want us to return to.

This is very alarming news for those of us in the southwest (40 million people).

    From the article:
Groundwater losses from the Colorado River basin appear massive enough to challenge long-term water supplies for the seven states and parts of Mexico that it serves, according to a new study released Thursday that used NASA satellites.

The Sierras didn’t get their snowpack this year, and now we’re running out of underground water too.

TODville, please keep your fingers crossed for a true El Nino event this year. If the Sierras don’t get snowpack this winter, we’ll see the water wars from the 19th century now, in the 21st century.

Attn: Florida TOD. John Olivers takedown of GEO private prisons and Rick Scott’s connections to it is EPIC.
It was Sunday night but I just had a chance to see it.
It is not only about Rick Scott. It covers the racial injustice and total inhumanity of our system.
Not funny at all, but presented with Sesame Street kids whose parents are incarcerated.
John Oliver is a bettter source of news that the badly mis-named “news media.” I hope lots of people get to see this. It is the second 1/2 of his 30 minute show.

A House Republican hearing on the harmful impact of Obamacare on Medicare Advantage completely backfired when the expert witnesses that Republicans invited disagreed with them.

I know everyone here is familiar with it, but repetition won’t hurt amd it might help someone.

Chances are you’ve heard of the Affordable Care Act – President Obama’s landmark health reform law that’s holding insurance companies accountable, lowering health care costs, giving Americans more freedom and control in their health care choices, and improving the quality of care.

One part of the act that you may not be as familiar with, however, is the “80/20 rule” – also known as the Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) rule – which went into effect in 2011.

The rule generally requires health insurance companies in the individual and small group markets to spend at least 80% of the premium dollars they collect on medical care or activities to improve health care quality. And that increases to 85% for insurance companies in the large group market.

Today, the Department of Health and Human Services released some new numbers showing just how much this rule has saved consumers over the last few years.
