I hate that my tax dollars are used to support Bibi and his slaughter of children. I will never understand why Democrats and Republicans alike bow down to Israel. Oh yes sadly we all know it’s for campaign dollars. The poor in Palestine aren’t contributing to any PAC. I am so upset that POTUS hasn’t condemned this invasion. Defending Israeli territory and invading another land are two different things. How the US allows Bibi to conflate the two is beyond appalling.

        • July 20, 2014 at 8:12 pm

Forus, we absolutely know in our hearts that PBO recognizes the horrific injustice of what is being done to the Palestinians, but it breaks my heart too that he is so strangled by US politics that he will not come out and say it.

I hear ya and know that is true. I just want him to rise above it but it’s too much to expect given that fucker Bibi he is dealing with. I alternate between sad and angry over all this. Life is so unfair for so many and me with every creature comfort ever known sits here helpless.

        Hi SUE DUVALL SMITH,
I hope that your day gets better.

I know that you are tired, and I think that most of us are just tired of the madness, and the hate that is perpetrated against President Obama.

If I can just offer a word of caution; don’t argue with people in this day and age, because we know all to well, one can end up dead. It doesn’t matter if the argument takes place in church, there are people in our congregation who carry guns, for what ever reason, they do it. It doesn’t take but a second for someone to become a murderer.

On Saturday, in Florida, an 83 year old man shot at another driver for cutting him off (road rage). They were stopped when the bridge went up, and the 83 year old man got out of his car and shot through the passenger side of the young guy, and grazed him with the bullet. Luckily for the young driver that the elderly man could not shoot straight. He is in jail, booked on attempted murder, and the victim was hospitalized. Other people, parents with their kids were out and had to take cover, the guy was shooting all over.

It’s not worth it to argue with anyone in this day and age of the wild, wild west that we live in. An individual can get ticked off and lose it all together in the blink of an eye. Your life is more valuable than an argument, in the end, nothing is settled because everyone leave with their own opinion. As I stated earlier today in my post, we have to step away from the madness, and come up for fresh air. Emotions are all over the place as it relates to the world crises, children at the borders, bloodshed in Gaza, Putin killing innocent people, dead bodies left in an open field, a do nothing Congress, and everything in between. The world is in chaos, and people are being affected by the emotional turmoil that we are in.

There are residents where I live who support Bibi, and they are cheering him on. I was getting my mail Saturday, and they were gathered in the lobby sending good wishes and was very pleased with what he is doing. I was tempted to walk over and remind them of the babies on the beach but I realized that chaos would have erupted in that moment. Sometimes we have to walk away, and choose our battles carefully.

I use my energy to offer words of encouragement to those who are hurting, and I use my prayer time and meditation time to lift up the President and his Administration; praying for their protection, asking God to endow them with wisdom to work through these crises that we are all witnessing, and pray that we will all come through this.

Those who hate, will continue to hate, and that movie was made and released to drive the hate that is prevalent among the repukes, teabaggers and right wing nuts. You know what the truth is, and if you can’t talk to sensible people about today’s issues, let it go and let God. He will take care of it. We all have to be careful, not fearful, but careful, and choose our battles with care.

Be careful my friend because your life matters.
        Blessings,

The right cannot even do math – 98,872/2 = 49436 not 56335 AND
These figures are from 2013. My retirement savings grew about 14% July 2013/Jun 2014. I’ve more than double recovered what I lost in 2008/2009
House prices – about 10% below what they were at the peak of the bubble

I saw this on ESPN, it was such a sweet story. This little kid had cancer, he was a big fan of NFL Carolina Panther quarterback Cam Newton. He got to meet Newton, work out with the Panther, have a press conference, just a special time for the little kid and later this month, or next month he will be going back to the Panther workout.

I don’t know the exact wording and I wish I could find PBO talking about this…remember when he talked about the issues that come across his desk are always the really, really difficult things to handle? That is why he is the President. America trusted him twice and the entire world respects him and his team. He does what he says and he doesn’t play. I pray for him a clear head to do what no other has been able to do before him. I pray for him to have the wisdom and patience he needs to to deal with all the players in this difficult puzzle…let his North Star guide him, as it always has…and may the warmongers and those that WANT fear and war to prevail….choke on their words and deeds. Amen.

    • July 20, 2014 at 11:17 pm

Wow! Rev. Barber was absolutely amazing. This speech needs to be circulated widely. He powerfully articulated a vision, which is deeply rooted in the knowledge of history, the moral teachings of the Bible, and the importance of building effective political coalitions. Thank you so much, Bob, for sharing it with us.

        July 20, 2014 at 11:51 pm

Hi nath. Hope all is well with you and family. Wow! is always a great description for Rev. Dr. Barber. He is so amazing and so real to all of his causes and participations in movements that will go into past and present history to educate, as well as help others to articulate the purpose of why we cannot stand by and allow our rights and decent moral standing to be eroded by this radical group of oppositional people.

I love Dr. Barber for being a real teacher, leader, preacher, and decent citizen. This is the fruits of those of us who are daily praying and meditating for vessels and instruments like Rev. Barber to rise up and help our citizens of every state and to also help our President. There are so many beautiful men and women, and young people of all faiths who realize the importance of the moral issue of what is taking place in our country and all around the world, who are dedicated daily to praying for President Barack Obama and his Administration. We see so many answers daily of the power of groups beginning to move out and be the foot soldiers for this time in our history. Young and old. It is wonderful to behold.

Chips and Bobfr, thanks for sharing this here today. I recognize the group, but it is the messenger with the appropriate message that will spread all over the nation to move a people who are ready to hear a calling for doing what is right. Dr. Barber is one of those powerful voices. Thanks for his powerful message. I fell in love with Dr. Barber nine years ago.

Again, thanks Bobfr and Chips. This will lift our spirits up to move on with hope and hard work for the greater cause. HZ

        • July 21, 2014 at 5:17 am

Hello, HZ! Thanks for asking about my family. I have one sister, 87, who is going through some rough patches. But she is such a fighter and a very positive person. She also happens to be a former teacher and a deeply spiritual person. Although she is dealing with some physical pain, her mind is as sharp as ever.

Rev. Dr. Barber is absolutely amazing. He is what is exactly needed at this hour to make sure we are all awake. He knows history; he knows the scriptures in the same tradition as Richard Allen, Alexander Crummell, Bishop Henry M. Turner, Howard Thurman, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr; He is as fearless in his political advocacy and call for action as David Walker, Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, Ida B. Wells, W.E.B. DuBois, Paul Robeson, A Philip Randolph, Charles H.Houston, Malcolm X, Ella Baker, Medgar Evers, and Fannie Lou Hamer. It feels so good to see the emergency of young leaders (well, Dr. Barber, President Obama, and MA Gov. D. Patric, are all young people compared to me) who are carrying forward the African American tradition of challenging this country to live up to the principles and values of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution; as well the principle and values that are at the heart of Biblical teachings. The tragedy, of course, is that few Americans are taught the historical role played by African Americans in expanding freedom and democracy and in faithfully upholding the moral teachings of the Bible. The most important moral principle I was taught growing up was the golden rule: treating other people as you would like to be treated.

HZ, I too hope all is well with you and your family. Thank you for always sharing words of love, positivity, caring, inspiration, and wisdom with all of us here at TOD. Chipsticks has indeed attracted some of the most talented, wise and humane people. Certainly Bobfr, who shared Rev. Barber’s speech, is right there at the top. I was so energized by Rev. Barber’s speech and I quickly shared it with my daughter, nieces, nephews and friends. I also asked them to share it with other family members and all their friends.

Good to see that local resistance plus the Ukrainian army’s continued push is ‘making the terrorists nervous.’ The bad news is that Russia has not stopped delivering weapons to their terrorist minions.

More needs to be done for our homeless.

Showers are a basic need, and the wealthiest counties are doing little or nothing to help these people.

I think I mentioned before that I walked by a young man holding a “homeless, please help” sign while I was dependent on the local bus service. I asked if he had sought help from the only organization that I know of that helps the homeless here (a Lutheran charity), and he said there was a long waiting list, so no hope here to assist these people.

…It makes no sense. Unless you understand, as Tuesday’s Post editorial explained, that the whole point is to draw Israeli counterfire.
This produces dead Palestinians for international television. Which is why Hamas perversely urges its own people not to seek safety when Israel drops leaflets warning of an imminent attack.

To deliberately wage war so that your own people can be ***telegenically killed*** is indeed moral and tactical insanity. But it rests on a very rational premise: Given the Orwellian state of the world’s treatment of Israel (see: the U.N.’s grotesque Human Rights Council), fueled by a mix of classic anti-Semitism, near-total historical ignorance and reflexive sympathy for the ostensible Third World underdog, these eruptions featuring Palestinian casualties ultimately undermine support for Israel’s legitimacy and right to self-defense….

…It’s to the Israelis’ credit that amid all this madness they haven’t lost their moral scruples. Or their nerve. Those outside the region have the minimum obligation, therefore, to expose the madness and speak the truth. Rarely has it been so blindingly clear….

As an addendum to my response to Nena above about showers for the homeless (it wasn’t a new Lamborghini, but still, wasn’t a $1,500 car):

I’ve also mentioned before that my community does support taxes for services that provide public good, it’s just that this community turns a blind eye to the plights of the homeless and hungry (photo taken yesterday afternoon — note the clouds, even saw a drop or two rain [but not much more than that]):

What gets to me is that we’re all expected to be sheeple and support Israel no matter what. We can support the people of Israel and the country itself, but not condone the behavior of its neocon PM and his crew. Just like we would support the people of Gaza and disagree strongly with the tactics of Hamas. I don’t think this is anti Semetic, I think this is common sense.

To my jackieG, Desertflower, Bobfr, we are such a beautiful family here, and we all have the same interest and investment in this great man, our 44th President. Chips is the angel who gives us the honor to be on this wonderful journey, and I know we do not take any of it for granted.

Our beautiful TOD family will be on the right side of history because we will stand together and move forward to help our president’s load a little lighter for a great and decent cause. He is a very, very, very decent and moral man who has a heart that is so pure and full for doing the right thing. I have never expected him to be any of the other 43 Presidents; but just be President Barack H. Obama. It irks my spirit when I hear people saying , “Oh, he needs to be a RR; LBJ; JK, etc., no, he needs to be President Barack H. Obama.” And trust me, he will.

We will make it because he stirred something that was and still is so wonderfully good and decent inside of each of us within this beautiful TOD family, and our precious Chips. That is why we are here in this space now. So, yes, we will have the bumps, setbacks, and PBO even reminded us of that; but we know we will always have a president who will tell the American people the truth. He promised that. Go back and listen to his speeches.

That is one of the sweet and delicious reasons that I love how Chips put of the posts that remind us why we became so interested and devoted our time, money, and hardwork to help this wonderful man who is now our President of these United States. I am lifted up in my spirit when I recall from the photos and speeches that Chips post here daily of what led me to be a part of this great presidency.

Sure I get frustrated with how he is treated and how they work against him; but I know that PBO is far above that petty ugly type of political drama. He is not a circus performer. And we cannot change hate; but we sure can make it tremble in its ugly boots when we organize and march to the polls. Now that is power.

PBO is a kind, brilliant mind, hard working, loving, compassionate, calm, and gentle soul who is willing to work hard for the people who elected him and the ones who did not elect him. That is who he is and how his North Star guides him. We will continue to pray, meditate on goodness, and when we get frustrated(yes, we will) we know we have a great man in the Oval Office who will do his job the right way. And we must remember that we can come to each other when we get frustrated. That is what makes us whole as a decent people;. Our TOD family. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ I love you Chips, and I give thanks for you everyday}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}HZ
