Hmmmm. Were you working with Chips? Was this a conspiracy? Just wondering.

Anyhoo, Congrats (because *she* didn’t come in with you)!

    Congrats Gail!!

This is what scares me sometimes about this place – how often people come out with the exact, same words! I haven’t been able to check comments as I write, so I find it kind of funny that I wrote ‘I like the #RemoveALetterRuinABand tweets’, then immediately changed the ‘I like’ part only to now read your opinion. Not a biggie, but funny to me. 😉 😉

What a group! Next to Diahann Carroll is Paul Newman, Charlton Heston (before he became a NRA nut) and Harry Belefonte. In the top photo I saw Marlon Brando. That’s an awful lot of uber beautiful people in one place. Amazing, amazing day.

That was also stated by POTUS on Friday.

Nobody likes the Killings. No body likes the conflict. No body is willing to do what is needed to put a STOP to the chronic slaughter.

      • July 20, 2014 at 2:52 pm

But we give Israel money , tax payers money , to build iron dome. Our technology. Then, when they run out of missiles, we give them more money.
This protects Israel from those rockets.
        Almost to a precise.
So, why does Hamas keep launching them?

          July 20, 2014 at 3:07 pm

because they are defending themselves against Israel. You know something that’s interesting the fact that Israel wont release the audio of those three teenagers were killed and all sources have said that the killer spoke in Hebrew.

“all sources have said that the killer spoke in Hebrew.”

I have been reading the same information as well Jeff. US tax payer dollars should not be funding this war.

          Yes, we do all that.

Hamas are Palestinians too. They live there and they want better for their own community. Denying basic rights for most is Never a winning issue in the long run. People will fight oppression. The solution is quite simple. The political will is Not there. History is full of this and those who refuse to learn from History are doom to repeat the failures.

Truth be told, Hamas will never stop. That is unfortunate.

This crisis didn’t start with Hamas launching rockets. It started after an extreme small unknown group in Gaza who kidnapped and killed 3 teens. Netanyahu knew it was Not The Hamas……but he used that to get to where things stand today. Quite unfortunate.

Electing Netanyahu was never a sound judgement. Whenever peace is around the corner, those who want war win in Israel and in Gaza.

because when people continue to come into your neighborhood, pull you out of your own house and proceed to kick your ass in your own front yard, you just may opt to fight back.

I think both of these statements are 100 percent consistent. You can defend the need for someone’s actions, but caution them against the extent of the harm they’re inflicting. I’m very glad that PBO called Netanyahu and warned him that the world is watching. If Kerry had come out blasting Israel THAT would have been the story and Bibi would have used it against the US. The president is too smart to let that happen. It’s Israel, not the US, whose actions are in the spotlight.

re: your link at the bottom of the last thread…

      From the article:
“Officials say sinkholes are a way of life in Florida, where there have been nearly 300 ground depressions since 2010.”

And no doubt only going to get worse as ocean levels rise and the Florida peninsula becomes the Florida islands… 😦

        July 20, 2014 at 4:28 pm

Sinkholes are starting to be prevalent everywhere. We lost a whole street and all the homes on it in the town next door in a neighborhood that had no problems since it was built over 60 years ago. There’s a sinkhole so large on a major thru state highway, that it’s no longer possible to fill it and now crews have to build a bypass bridge. Amazing how the sinkhole phenomena coincided with PA’s fracking frenzy. But, of course, you are not supposed to mention that coincidence.

I so agree Nena20409. James Garner is my husband’s hero. We have a station that plays all the old Marverick TV shows, we dvr them everyday and watch them. My husband is on who will talk his way out of anything before he becomes mad or physical. We have all his movies, my favorite is Victor/Victoria. He will be missed.

Love all the tweets. I really like the idea and Stephanie Pelosi follows Chips!!!!!

Yes, an everyman. That’s what made The Rockford Files so popular.

Aside: My first supervisor’s home was used in an exterior shot in a Rockford Files episode in the 1970s. She lived in Paradise Cove (a mobile home park at the beach in Malibu), but alas, she lost everything in a fire that roared through the area in 1982.

She had kitschy stuff outside, which fit the offbeat theme of The Rockford Files.

Rest in Peace, Jim. You brought lots of smiles to many people.

She tweeted calling those cheering “scums” Well she was pulled off from Gaza and today, I just saw her reporting from Moscow, Russia this afternoon. At least, she has Not been fired yet.

I haven’t listened yet because an hour usually seems so long (for me) at the start of a video, but from past experience I’d recommend you follow Smartypants’ suggestion and watch the vid she shared at the link.

    Building a moral fusion movement
I know a lot of you will think that you don’t have an hour to listen to Rev. William Barber’s speech at Netroots Nation. The media ignored it because he’s not likely to be a presidential candidate in 2016. But if you want to be inspired to build a fusion movement that takes our political discussion above the snake line to the moral high ground, I suggest you find the time. Lordy…this man is just what our spirits need these days!

‘My maternal grandmother was raised in Kentucky. She was a church-going woman with basically a good heart. And yet as a child, I remember her saying things like, “When a chigger becomes a chigero, a n*gger will become a negro.” How does one reconcile that?

Bob this whole scene of horror and absurdity is surreal. If someone had written this in a book or filmed it, it would have seemed unbelievable in a civilized 2014 world. The Russian thugs, goons, sociopaths who control the crash site are like relics of a barbarism you would expect in the era of Genghis Khan. It is so beyond belief that the victims, the families, the world is held in thrall to a group that seems barely human in its total lack of humanity. By continuing to support these atrocities, Putin is revealing a heart of such utter blackness that the whole world should be stunned by its depth.

I’m proud of those protestors in London. They’re doing what people in the US are too cowardly to do–calling out the evil when they see it. Americans get caught up in the politics of everything and forget the humanity. Israel is going too far and the ‘excess’ will forever stain them. Yes, they have a justification for going after Hamas. But there is no justification for causing the maximum civilian damage. This has gone from self-defense to cruelty.

Boom – this chart should be front paged….

Despite efforts by the US media, most of these countries have higher approvals for PBO (at his lowest) than they had for GWB (at his highest).

  27. July 20, 2014 at 4:10 pm

This is not good……never ending cycle of destruction/death. Hamas has no regard for Palestinian civilians put in harms way, Bibi under the guise of “limited operation to destroy tunnels” (which I think is entirely legitimate) went far beyond that immediately, and god knows how much worse it is going to get… if that is even imaginable.

    • 102 nospin
      July 20, 2014 at 7:32 pm

“Hamas has no regard for Palestinian civilians put in harms way”

Nor does Bibi. And that was clear when he deliberately targeted the 4 kids playing on a beach and only slightly paid attention when he realized that he did it in front of the media. So I do not believe this is all the fault of Hamas.

Now the mandate is to push these stories and shift the focus re-balance the scales to show justification of why Israel’s war atrocities is somewhat okay because….

I don’t think the US should be funding this. There is no direct benefit to the United States and I think what Israel is doing is flat wrong.
