Have been thinking about FM Zarif’s response to Ms Amanpour’s question about Vienna and his response … for the past several hours. Thus, the only suggestion that I thought might matter ….
Good for them! Only idiots would not want these bright students here….
PHOENIX — “Underwater Dreams,” a documentary about the engineering successes of a group of undocumented immigrant students at Carl Hayden High School, premiered at the AMC Arizona Center theater on Friday.
In 2004, the robotics team from Carl Hayden entered into the collegiate category at a competition in California. Once there, the team had an upset victory over the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “Underwater Dreams” tells the underdog story behind that win and the impact the DREAM act had on the four immigrant students that made up the team.
Dr. Allen Cameron, a retired teacher at Carl Hayden, said that the students did not think that their story would be inspirational or worthy of a documentary. In the end, however, Cameron said their story shows what it means to be an American.
Happy Birthday to you, Liberal Librarian! You bless our world daily with your noble professional work, and your smart, witty, brilliant commentary and your glorious musical ministry here on TOD. The essays you write light up the world, open the windows, let in the breezes of truth and insight, and knock the scales from the denying eyes of countless people. You make it better. May it all come back to you multiplied and buoyed with health wealth and joy. Hope you have a big sweet cake with candles.
That picture is what it’s all about, Chips! “If you can keep your head while all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you … ”
Keep smiling, Mr. President. You got this! (And, therefore, we need to keep reminding ourselves – through your gentle reminders, Chips, and NW’s and those of others – that we got this, too!)
I just want to get something straight? Why doesn’t the Palestinians rise up against Hamas? They’re giving UDF and Nut and Yahoo excuses to ground invasion.
So long as Hamas keeps lobbing Katyusha rockets at Tel Aviv, then this ground war shall continue.
Unless, Palestine is closely allied with Hamas and condones such behavior?
…I do not know what we can about this situation (Israel vs Palestine)…Stonekettle’s argument is very powerful…but are we not enablers of the violence by continuing our unconditional military support of Israel…
the President’s speech last year to the Israeli youth was the closest he came to criticizing the Israeli gov.
Altho Netanyahu has no problem with showing open scorn for our President….POTUS has shown much more restraint….our President is at Camp David this weekend…it is my sincere hope that he and his advisors are planning a response…
I also worry about what would happen in November 2014 if the President suggested something punitive towards Israel…
as you see my thoughts are somewhat incoherent because I have a hard time with what is taking place in Gaza…..and our continued enabling of the situation
Ran across this artist today—–Patty Griffin—-might be late to the party—-the song she wrote in honor of MLK—“Up to the Mountain”–voice is addictive—-great late night voice—-or any time voice
One more pick-me-up: U2 Pride and City of Blinding Lights at the We Are One Inaugural Concert: the amazing crowd, the shout out to Israel AND Palestine, our young black-haired President-elect, and the Hope of all.

IDF.
I don’t even pretend to understand all the in’s and out’s and centuries old issues that are in play here, but I do read Juan Cole to get his insight… http://www.juancole.com/2014/07/politics-middle-islamic.html
Wow….what a mess…it is so tangled….there seems to be no way forward
Bringing over my comment from the last thread…

Can’t decide if Ms Chips keeps starting new threads so she can be first or so I am always a thread behind. I may never catch up!
Here’s Johnny. 🙂
