As I told this individual, just because the media is covering a couple 100 anti-Obama folk doesn’t mean that there are no pro-Obama supporters getting his message out. They’re not just doing it via the corrupt corporate media – which exists to serve only one set of interests.

People on the left who believe we don’t have a way to get our message out are those we DON’T want on our side. The have no imagination and are easily discouraged.

O, I didn’t notice that you were chatting to Chernynkaya too! I had a convo with him/her too, trying to say that if we do our part FOX et al won’t stop us. I don’t think I convinced him/her of anything though.

In this case, I’m not sure. All his tweets that I’ve seen have been supportive, and in this one he seems to be expressing a genuine concern that our side doesn’t have a network behind us. Something we have all lamented from time to time. What I was trying to remind him of was the fact that despite this lack, we could still get our message out – as PBO did in 2008 and 2012.

Indeed here from his own TL is a retweet saying virtually what I was trying to say……

My conclusion is that he was just having a ‘down’ moment as we all also do from time to time.

I know; it IS the Cherno person I’m talking about. Chernyn was the one who had Gabba’s media tweet in his TL, sometime before he shared his own tweet about being outgunned by GOPs + FOX. That’s one reason I am thinking his own tweet was sent in a moment of frustration.

I cannot believe what is going on at that crash site. No one is in charge except a rag tag bunch of goofs with guns. The bodies were allowed to remain where they fell for over 48 hours, 100+ still not recovered, reported looting of credit cards and other belongings, people just allowed to trample all over the crash site, recovered bodies being taken away in backs of trucks and driver doesn’t know where he’s taking them. This is the most indecent, disgusting response to a catastrophe I’ve ever seen. Decent people everywhere are in disbelief and outraged. I can’t even imagine the utter shock and agony of family members. And it looks like the world is in agreement on where the fault lies.

              • July 19, 2014 at 7:36 pm

Dotster, this is so far beyond belief that I can’t even describe the level of anger and outrage I feel about it. How can this be allowed to happen? Where are the international forces to put an end to this atrocity? The treatment of a human catastrophe of this proportion hasn’t been this poorly handled since the days of the czars. It’s just astonishing and crosses all boundaries of decency.

Taking the bodies. Is it possible to go any lower. Are they hoping to provoke a NATO intervention?

        • July 19, 2014 at 6:59 pm

We are witnessing the very worst of our species, Vicki. What they are doing is destroying evidence apart from desecrating the bodies of the victims.

Tell me briefly, Bobfr, why wouldn’t Ukraine step forward and secure the site as it relates to the dead, if not the security of a crime scene?

            • July 19, 2014 at 7:25 pm

Butting in, in case Bob’s not around: the area where the plane was shot down is controlled by pro-Russia separatists (who, it is assumed, fired the missile at the plane, and now want to hide the evidence).

TY. I’m with that part, CC, but because it did happen in Ukraine, and it is an international incident, I’ve been wondering why the Ukrainan military etc doesn’t move in (give permission to international forces to support them if needed) and take control of the site itself, if not the area?

                • July 19, 2014 at 7:44 pm

It may come to that VC if these reports about what’s going on at the site are true (and I’m hugely wary of propaganda from both sides on this). Of course, if European/international forces helped, that could result in direct conflict with Russian-supported forces – and that’s beyond scary.

            • July 19, 2014 at 7:31 pm

They have sent volunteers to help, VC, but it’s important to recognize that the are is controlled by Russian forces and Russian-armed Ukrainian separatists whom have been blatantly hostile to observers, the press and the volunteers. They informed the OSCE observers that if they didn’t leave the very small portion of the crash site they allowed them to see, they would take them hostage.

If Ukrainian forces arrived it would become a battlefield, immediately. That’s why so much pressure is being applied to Putin to give the orders to HIS troops (the actual commanders of the Ukrainian separatists) to back off. That’s the only way a full investigation can be underway and proper treatment of the victims assured.

              • July 19, 2014 at 7:34 pm

BTW, the situation will become even more tense in the next few hours as various investigators from different Nations, including US FBI and NTSB experts begin arriving in Ukraine and traveling to the site.

Also, “the are” in the first sentence of my reply should be “the area” …

              • 63 vcprezofan2
                July 19, 2014 at 7:47 pm

TY. It’s already too late for proper treatment and a full investigation. IMO anything they find now will be tainted.

I guess a part of me is so outraged that they would not have covered or protected the bodies after their massacre that, momentarily, I’m all for going in with backup from the countries whose citizens have been murdered and blowing them out of the way. Sigh!

                • July 19, 2014 at 7:51 pm

It may come to that, VC. One thing that I’m certain and that is that Putin has been informed in no uncertain terms that he better get his dudes out of Ukraine. The remaining “separatists” are a pack of drug addicts and drunks who’d not last a couple of hours in a match just with Ukraine special forces, let alone Dutch or Australian or UK or Malaysian special ops folk (whom are highly skilled).

I am reminded of 100 years ago – in the midst of a horrific war – both sides would pause – and allow the other side to gather their dead and wounded. Not so Putin’s terrorists.

There is a video highlighted in this post that you really, REALLY need to see. It’s only 7ยฝ mins but it packs a lot. If you have watched it before today – what the heck – watch it again!

One of the reasons I’ve followed President Obama so closely is that I finally felt like I found just that.

The real deal doesn’t come along very often in politics. But I had that same reaction today when I watched this video of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick talk about his plans to work with the federal government to provide shelter for the unaccompanied children who have come here from Central America. You can skip to about 4:45 on the video to see the pertinent portion.

vcprezofan2 thank you for that video. I skip to 4:45 and watch it and I said this months ago, that if Gov. Patrick were to run in 2016 he has my vote.

Wasn’t it great, Annieb? ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s such a terrific feeling to listen to a speaker who speaks intelligently and expresses positive ideas. After decades of corruption and insincerity etc, during this political era we are meeting some politicians who are not ashamed to speak/live lives of integrity and to serve for the good of the majority.

    • July 19, 2014 at 8:57 pm

Excellent video, VC. Thank you. Gov Patrick is indeed the ‘real deal.’

Not being carried much but in London 100,000 people marched in support of Gaza. Large protests also in Glasgow, Paris, Istanbul and Haifa(Israel)
In NYC, meanwhile a small group of politicians mostly Dems I’ve voted for met at City Hall to “Stand With Israel.” Kept outside the gates were a few protesters.

The NY Times, today, referenced in its editorial the article from yesterdays editorial essays (Chips kindly posted it here yesterday) by Nathan Thrall placing the blame again where it belongs. The current assault by Israel may be at least partly understood as a tantrum sanctioned by the US and Europe in response to the Fatah-Hamas reconciliation alliance and its applications to the UN. Quite a tantrum.
The Times goes on to say that the best solution remains an agreement between the Palestinian Authority and Israel. I am delighted to see The times has a nuanced understanding of what is happening.

The newspapers are counting the dead but not the misery.

70% of Gaza has no electricity. Before this war Gaza had electric 7-8 hours a day.
Photos are coming out tonight of Israelis cutting the electrical wires in The West Bank also. Specifically to Ramallah the seat of the PA.

This was interesting—-just talked to daughter who just got back from Dallas—–where her co. was hosting a leadership training for Chicago Public School principals at their HQ there—–not clear on all the details——but somehow CBS sent Frank Luntz there (now works at CBS and FOX)—–and he was to host some segment there. But it soon became clear to all that Luntz was only interested in hearing bad stuff about PBO, Rahm and Dems——-cut off anyone who had anything positive to say—–this was supposedly going to be used for a CBS report on Back To School, or something. So the Chgo principals saw what was happening, became disgusted and enraged by the misleading dialogue and questions and all walked out on Luntz en masse. Hooray.
