    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/07/18/rt-reporter-quits-over-mh17-coverage-were-lying-and-finding-sexier-ways-to-do-it/

A London-based reporter for Russia Today resigned Friday in protest over the network’s coverage of the recent Malaysia Airlines plane crash.

Sara Firth, who has worked for RT since 2009, announced her resignation via Twitter, writing: “I resigned today from RT. I have huge respect for many in the team, but I’m for the truth.”

Firth told Buzzfeed that she resigned because she the felt the Kremlin-funded news channel was trying to pin the blame for the apparent shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 on the Ukrainian government.

“It was the total disregard to the facts. We threw up eyewitness accounts from someone on the ground openly accusing the Ukrainian government, and a correspondent in the studio pulled up a plane crash before that the Ukrainian government had been involved in and said it was ‘worth mentioning’,” Firth explained. “It’s not worth mentioning. It’s Russia Today all over, it’s flirting with that border of overtly lying. You’re not telling a lie, you’re just bringing something up. I didn’t want to watch a story like that, where people have lost loved ones and we’re handling it like that.”

“I couldn’t do it any more. Every single day we’re lying and finding sexier ways to do it.”

Meanwhile, someone in the US media thinks it’s just fine to ask PBO if any of this is Ukraine’s fault. Case rested.

      Congrats on first, df!

Wonder how many “single days” of “lying and finding sexier ways to do it,” while being paid, that the RT reporter endured – before finding her conscience. I’m glad she finally did – but can’t help but wonder.

    • July 18, 2014 at 1:03 pm

Meanwhile, the years of lying, cover-up and feeling ‘sexy’ about it, has brought us to exactly where we are today. So, yay, you resign, but the karma goes with you. (meaning this ‘journalist’).

Unfortunately, MP, there would be few people left in today’s media if they are resigned because too many lies were being told. And that would be the healthiest thing that could happen.

I’m kinda like that, too. I have a lot of restraint with most things but throw in a bunch of salsa, too, and I’m lost in the wilderness.

I’ve mostly caught up on TOD posts from yesterday and today, and let me add my voice to the chorus of “Thank God for TOD and TODville.” So much information and insights here. If it weren’t for TOD, we’d have to wade through the preening and posturing and willful avoidance of facts by our despicable WHPC. That’s an organization that needs to be deep-sixed now.

The President could not have been clearer that Russia/Putin is supplying arms, training and other support to the Ukrainian separatists. Could not have been clearer — ask any 4th grade class who watched/listened and they will tell you. Yet some WHPC idiot asked if PBO blames Ukraine? JHC, and they get paid for this idiocy.

Chips, if you’re still here, want to add my 2 cents re: Presidential optics.

There are certain events that eclipse all others in history, e.g., the assassination of JFK, Sept 11, 2001, etc.

Yesterday’s unspeakable catastrophe (glad that PBO referred to this catastrophe, rather than “tragedy” (it really bothered me when MSM referred to the Tucson massacre as a tragedy [heartbreaking fate, not a planned, murderous slaughter) will eclipse all other events that occurred then.

For example, I was an enormous fan of Aldous Huxley when I was growing up, but had no memory of hearing about his death… because he died on November 22, 1963.

This is an unbelievable article! I’m going to add a small part of it, the whole article is incredible. If anyone had any doubt, this shows with absolute clarity that ELECTIONS MATTER!! Every vote counts. Vote BLUE!!!

….enator Biden, who met President Bush at the White House just before he left for Europe, questioned whether trust was the right word to use about Mr. Putin, a former operative of the K.G.B., the Soviet intelligence service, and former head of Russia’s domestic intelligence service. At their news conference in Slovenia, Mr. Bush said of Mr. Putin: ”I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul.”

Senator Biden said that for his part, ”I don’t trust Mr. Putin; hopefully the president was being stylistic rather than substantive.”…

This is a disgrace so monumental that it takes my breath away.
What kind of country allows a city to shut off water to its residents?

I’m up late – because it’s Saturday 🙂 – but had to do a late comment on this one JoB – it hit our press and Mr 99 – who now knows to ask me of the truth of things from the US media – asked me if this was REALLY happening in the USA.

I cannot think of anything that would have more of a negative benefit to a city than turning off the water. They have truly gone mad.

My story about the first time I made guacamole is from the first year I was married was in 1968. My new husband was in the Air Force. He was in language school in Monterey, CA. He invited his entire class to our place for the first Thanksgiving meal I had ever made. I was in fear of an epic failure. I bought avocados for guacamole dip for the appetizer. I knew not what I was doing and did not add any lemon juice and the guacamole turned black. All the guys ate it anyway without complaining.

Okay, if that doesn’t give the HRC folks pause, I don’t know what will. Chris Cizzilla has never been right about anything. And he’s doesn’t even have the luck of a broken clock. He’s just dead wrong 100% of the time. Be afraid, HRC folks, be very afraid….
