      Bravo, nerdy, Bravo.
This disgusting propagandist deserves everything he gets.

On the other hand I hope you are okay. Strong feelings and espressions can take their toll. You are invaluable to TOD. so please take care.

      Hi amk for obama,

Congrats on 1st – you’re #1!!!! Hope Jenny and the boys are all doing well.

      Wishing everyone a blessed day.

Just got in from teaching at the University; turned on the TV, and I am beyond shock. I am heartbroken over this, it’s on the local stations here and they are talking about bodies being every where. I had no idea what was going in the news today.

I keep asking; What’s going on?

Our world is in turmoil, our children are in fear, our daily living is being challenged on every front, hate is in the air from every corner, killings are by the second, and war is not the answer.

When one has done all that they can do – prayer is what we still need.
May the good Lord watch over our President, Administration, our country and the world, as the question still lingers – what’s going on?

I know exactly how you feel, Cindy. I was in a Democratic GOTV strategy meeting all afternoon and am just now catching up on the news. It’s so hard to take in, so tragic and overwhelming. I hope you are personally doing well after the recent ordeals you’ve been through.

          July 17, 2014 at 4:08 pm

Hi jackiegrumbacher, hope you’re doing well my friend.

I came in; shoes kicked off and ready to relax, turned on the TV and “bam – in your face disaster.” I sat down to try and process it, and came to TOD for “real news.” Its truly overwhelming. I started crying, just feeling helpless because its so much of everything. The pictures of those who lost their baby boys yesterday in Gaza; the faces of mothers and children at the borders, the hate that is embedded in the hearts of people who are wishing for President Obama to fail, the gun violence, and tragedy everyday is gut wrenching.

We had two mothers who were murdered yesterday by their ex husband, one left 4 little babies behind……………. I just don’t know.

My ordeals are nothing in comparison to the suffering around us, but by grace, I am coming through them. My neighbor’s crazy husband is in jail, and will be there until the hearing at the end of the month, so that was good news. My health is improving and I am feeling better because of the improvement, so I am grateful.

We all have to take care of each other, and pray for the best outcome in everything; for the world we live in, is filled with trials and tribulations at every turn.

          Blessings,

Thank you, Cindy, for letting us know. It is all too much to take in and my tired brain is trying to process it all. The depth of hatred, anger and violence throughout the world are shocking, in the fullest sense of that word, So sorry about the murdered mothers and their babies. I hope those ex-husbands spend all the rest of their lives in jail under horrendous conditions while they think about what they’ve done. And may the babies find loving homes. I also hope thereis a plan to safeguard your neighbor from her insane husband until he’s put in jail for a long time and she can return home. Be safe yourself and bless you for your kind heart.

WOW – thanks NW for this excellent post and compilation of tweets.

I don’t think Baker was prepared for the onslaught of pro-PBO pushback that he got from that comment. I suspect he thought his little tweet about PBO was oh-so clever and would garner him hi-fives, hundreds of retweets and favorites, and more snarkiness & snickering at PBO…

    • 15 Vicki
      July 17, 2014 at 3:20 pm

Unprepared because he has been getting away with his poison for years.
Peter Baker wrote a Sunday New York Times Magazine piece on President Obama a few years ago , a very long article, so prejudicial and hateful it made me sick. Since then I see him as a little turd in a fedora.

      • 16 jackiegrumbacher
        July 17, 2014 at 3:51 pm

Perfect image, Vicki. The irony is that if this little numbskull with a fedora actually listened to the president’s speeches he would not only learn something, but understand how much substantive information each of them contains. Of course, that presupposes you don’t close your mind to begin with.

    • 17 japa21
      July 17, 2014 at 3:22 pm

The thing is, even if we leave PBO out of it and substitute another President or even a governor, or whatever, he still deserves the pushback, as does all media.
Their egos have gotten to the point that only they have the wisdom to determine what we peons are supposed to know and what is worthy enough to tell us.
They really don’t care what the people want to know about. They only report those things that they decide is important.
The fact that this is even worse during PBO’s administration only heightens this fact.
People still say that jobs and infrastructure are important to them. The media has determined not so much.
So here is something happening in real time, which can be reported accurately without having to make guesses.
But don’t report on this, let’s spend all our time repeating a news loop about which only one thing is totally known, which is that a plane tragically crashed, and then report all the conjecture without anything to back up the conjecture. I may think the separatists shot down the plane (and I do) but I don’t have the knowledge of that fact yet.
I do know what the President said, I do know that our infrastructure sucks, I do know that infrastructure spending boosts the economy. These are all facts. There is no doubt about those facts. But the public as a whole doesn’t really need to know about it, per the media.

      • 23 EricFive
        July 17, 2014 at 3:45 pm

It is important to note that the infrastructure story is a good one for Dems and puts the GOP in a bad light. That is the reason these propagandists are reluctant to cover it. They are not making independent decisions, they are following orders from their bosses. If this were not the case wouldn’t the NYT fire or suspend this guy who was hired to be their White House correspondent. Wouldn’t chuck todd and the Washington Post fact checker both be out of work for saying it is not their job to call out GOP lies?

It’s just so infuriating and heartbreaking. These are 700K people whose lives are affected. They have mouths to feed, families to feed, mortgages to pay, rents to pay, children to care for, parents to care for, etc. but to Peter Baker and his ilk in their ivory towers, it’s all “Hey, screw ’em. Now pass the champagne around.”

The lack of empathy in addition to the dishonesty is nausea inducing.

Thank goodness President Obama and his team use different outlets to get out the news and positively impact peoples lives because the majority of the media is worthless.

      • July 17, 2014 at 3:41 pm

I know today is challenging for all of us in so many ways but I pray that you have comfort in knowing, that what you have done in calling this clown out is so appreciated.

How can one not have compassion for people when their lives change for the worse; millions have lost unemployment, no extensions, they are hurting and how are they living?

We need people like you, and all the others who are here, who will call it what it is – publicly. What ever our gifts are, we can use them to bring about change. We are all blessed and endowed with special gifts.

Thank you for speaking the truth.

I’ve discovered that today’s journalism is not about reporting NEWS. It’s about reporting CONFLICT and SCANDAL to generate readers/users. So they have their false equivalency of “getting both sides of the story” — only, reporting the facts so that citizens have actual information takes a back seat to scandal. And let’s say it’s impossible not to have a point of view, even when reporting. Why then, could I trust Walter Cronkite infinitely more? Because the guy wasn’t a sellout to corporate media. And his point of view was that democracy was a pretty good thing. That power was held accountable. And that you backed up every single story, more than once. And yes, I understand that it is an impossible environment today for journalists to be in, this is not the news era of Edward R. Murrow. But I just wish more of them had guts, instead of always trying to snark their way out of justifying selling out. I see it in reporters for our local paper (that was sold to a larger publisher) who are so afraid of losing their job and that mentality just permeates all the way to the national level.

    • 42 EricFive
      July 17, 2014 at 4:05 pm

How come there are no GOP scandals reported? I think they would get a lot of clicks and viewers if they honestly reported the effects GOP obstruction is having on the country. Instead they obsess over PBO’s “optics” and let the GOP off the hook. They obsess over PBO, but don’t have time to air his speeches. This is similar to the “horserace theory” often used to explain our media environment. Since the Dems are supposed to lose big in 2014, why isn’t the MSM working to prop up Dems and scandalize the GOP so that the races will be closer? I wish the reason for our corrupt media were as innocent as a quest for ad dollars and clicks. Instead the msm has devolved into the media arm of the GOP. Every story is skewed to favor the GOP or harm Dems/PBO. A lot more people voted for PBO than voted for McCain, why is it so much easier for him to get airtime than the President?

  12. July 17, 2014 at 3:26 pm

    NW…thanks for the tweets.

I love it when those sanctimonious jerks think they deserve a pat on the back when they think they’ve taken a good shot at PBO, only to be put in their place by Twitter-world…led by TOD’s Twitter Brigade. šŸ‘

        July 17, 2014 at 4:03 pm

Bob, if this turns out to be true, I would like to know what kind of maniacs talk about bringing down a civilian plane? This has nothing to do with Ukrainian separatism or anything else these people can dream up. This is an act of deliberate murder. You don’t TARGET a civilian plane, unless you’re purposely trying to start a global war and even the Russian loonies on the ground in Ukraine can’t be that stupid. If this was deliberate, it should be approached as an unprovoked act of terror and the perpetrators rounded up and put on trial.

        • 50 japa21
          July 17, 2014 at 4:10 pm

Best guess would be they didn’t realize it was a civilian plane and mistook it for a Ukrainian military plane. Probably figured no civilian plane would be stupid enough to fly over that airspace. This is assuming the seapartists are responsible.

Although I suspect that to be the case, I prefer to withhold judgement at this time.

She either didn’t hear him or it didn’t register in time as she proceeded to ask a follow up question. OMG. And the caller couldn’t believe it either and he said to her, “You’re really a dumb a$$, aren’t you?” Pause.
