This is not a fanciful suggestion ….

I’d create a tent city on the National Mall, request volunteer teachers, health care providers, chefs, gamers, hobbyists, and others to join in helping the children and care for them until they could either be adopted or returned safely to their parents. And, I’d request the wealthiest Americans to write checks to fund the effort. No joke.

Bob you’re being scary smart again. Put it right in Boehner`s face. Brillant!

      • July 13, 2014 at 10:55 pm

Thank you Gail. What I want to do is put it right in the face of EVERY American and the world. We can do this, spectacularly well. Many if not all those children can become successful and they would be the most powerful force for good for the next generation and beyond because of what we have all the resources to do to enable them.

    • July 13, 2014 at 10:53 pm

How we treat these children defines the future of America as much as any act we could ever imagine.

      Yes We Can

      good night TOD ….

YES! How do we make this happen??

      • July 13, 2014 at 10:59 pm

This is the tweet that should have been included in the comment currently awaiting moderation, df.

If the First Lady and Dr Biden called upon all those who have been helped by Joining Forces and all the wealthy folk who actually care, they could mobilize more than sufficient funds to create a ‘tent city’ on the National Mall (or utilize other DC area government facilities) to house these children. I have no doubt that lots of folk would donate their time to helping them. Adoption agencies could be leveraged to find homes for the children for whom it would be way too dangerous to return them home.

Looks like the focus of the Obama Administration is to ensure the safe return of refugees to their country of origin.

The NM detention center is where Border Patrol agents receive training. Artesia NM is remote, midway between Roswell and Carlsbad NM, in territory that feels more like west Texas than NM.

It’s also midway between White Sands NM (where the first nuclear bomb was tested as part of the Manhattan Project) and the Texas border.

Sec. Jeh Johnson is on his way, if not there already to NM. Keep ears and eyes open to see how and when the media will report on his trip there. HZ

        • July 14, 2014 at 12:13 am

          Thanks, HZ.

I heard on the radio yesterday that Secretary Johnson was in NM, but didn’t know the details of exactly where until I saw this article.

National radio is giving Secretary Johnson some coverage, don’t know about DC beltway MSM — but we know they spin every story from a “we’re jealous we’ll never be as good a writer as President 44” perspective (courtesy of LovePolitics2008 from yesterday).

    Veeeery interesting:) http://www.austinchronicle.com/daily/gay-place/2014-07-11/fist-bumps-for-equal-rights/

As the president approached, Webb threw his hand down and slapped the counter dramatically. “Equal rights for gay people!”
“Are you gay?” the president asked.
    “Only when I have sex.”
“That’s when he laughed and said, ‘Bump me,'” Webb says.
“That’s my favorite part because it was cool to get a joke in. In all the photos [all over the Internet], I look like a dead fish, but it was cool. I do stand-up, so it was nice to have some interaction based on, hopefully, something funny.”
“If Rick Perry would’ve walked in, I would have lost my job. I would’ve taken that old queen to town,” Webb adds.

PBO is more than cool:) They never told us THIS conversation happened at Franklin BBQ:)

There’s more goodness about encounters there at the link. He’s so flipping awesome. Just is.

So was Putin invited because Russia hosts the next World Cup in 4 years? Do they even play soccer there? Hated to see his ugly mug today.

I’m so glad that the World Cup is over, because so many posts here were about that, and it is like reading Greek to me.

I know that federal judges are now being confirmed in the Senate, but what about ambassadors? Why the hold up?

    • July 13, 2014 at 11:30 pm

It looks like this problem affects Central America too – there’s only 6 countries in Central America, so that is puzzling, especially because of the current refugee crisis.

Arapaho415, this is a serious problem that the Senate will not speak about to the American people. We need to flood every senator’s phone next week about these ambassador nominations. It is really hurting us. I have already made my contacts but we need a lot more to bring this to the public so we can get citizens to make some positive comments so they will get this done. It is shameful what they are doing concerning this particular issue, but we will stay on it.

And then they have the nerves to have attitudes to the witnesses who are testifying before their committees on this very serious issues that we have facing us now. But we cannot and will not give up. We will keep moving forward and try to help POB and his team to get these nominations confirmed. Together We Can.

Good night my TOD family. I better get off before I get in trouble with my brother and doctors. But I was good today. Really. HZ

I was hoping to hear from someone knowable, so glad you responded.

If we had a legitimate media, they might mention that the Senate has not authorized Ambassadors to some of the countries who are in crisis right now.

Kudos for following doctor’s orders, and not overexert yourself.

          Sweet dreams, HZ.
