Darn stoners: Vaping devices ARE permitted in your carry-on and checked bags. Unless they look like a grenadeโ€ฆThisis a grenade-shaped vaping device that was discovered in a carry-on bag at the Salt Lake City International Airport. If an item looks like a grenade, it is prohibited.

I hope this ceasefire comes very soon. What’s happening now in Palestine is horrifying. So much damage has been done to the peace process that the president and SOS Kerry worked to hard to achieve.

Yes, and we will make sure that the media covers it as they should and stop operating at the GOP’s behest…

…….and Boehner wants to sue the President for doing something they wanted repealed anyway ๐Ÿ˜Ž

PBO always has his finger on the pulse of his people. It is remarkable.
Also, impossible to imagine the old angry Repubs taking the reins of power from Our President.

That nonsense wears thinner every day. By November, the Country will be openly mocking the pollsters.

And speaking of November we have our own way of countersuing Boehner and his sorry bunch. We can remove them from power entirely. VOTE

Yep,Hf, the media arm of the GOP has become so desperate that it’s forgotten to disguise its bias. They now telegraph all their distraction nonsense so obviously, that they’re comical, rather than threatening.

    • July 10, 2014 at 8:58 pm

Other than their rabid (and dying every day) 27 % base, all these ‘scandals’ are doing is increasing the momentum toward #LandslideDEMS2014

Did Chips delete her response to Sean Hannity’s tweet today?

    She RT’d this one:

Hannity’s tweet today proves what an idiot his “base” is.

Who in their right mind thinks ammo is the proper action against women and children?

Proof that the GOP base don’t think, they react. They stew in their hatred of President Obama and his family, and get more frustrated and angry with each day, because every day President Obama is DOING something or his well-laid plans bear fruit.

    • 62 99ts
      July 10, 2014 at 9:22 pm

Who in their right mind thinks ammo is the proper action against women and children?

This is the “pro life” team in action. Birth control is bad – guns against children is good.

      • July 11, 2014 at 1:34 am

Indeed, 99ts! These cowardly right wingers see children and their mothers at the U.S. border as invaders who must be confronted with heavily armed militias.

        • 64 99ts
          July 11, 2014 at 3:37 am

I’m wondering what part Mexico is playing in this one – rather like France in past times – they used to have a refugee camp almost next to the Eurostar station (trains to the UK) encouraging people to leave the camp and jump on the trains – which, of course, they did as the UK treated them much more humanely than most countries in Europe.

    • 65 Cindy
      July 10, 2014 at 9:30 pm

Hannity is stoking this ideal of militias showing up at the borders. Dr. Dyson is filling in for Ed S. and he showed the clip of Hannity and Perry; Perry ran to Fox after his meeting with President Obama. Hannity is putting this out there in the crazysphere because he knows that there are nuts out there who hates the government.

That Bundy guy from Nevada was being interviewed by some reporter, and he is saying that these kids and the mothers have diseases and the WH is covering it up. This talk is crazy but ever so dangerous because this country has its share of serious bafoons that feeds on this madness.

They will be out there sooner or later; shooting and killing those who patrol the borders and murdering innocent babies and mothers to make their point. Hannity and all those who stoke this fear and hate should be held accountable.

    • 66 anniebella
      July 10, 2014 at 10:02 pm

When I see that picture of Hannity and Perry, I’m more convince than ever POTUS don’t need to go to the border.

    July 10, 2014 at 9:33 pm

Rachel has a senator on who I’m not seeing as very positive – he says its OK to give up on highways – but the border problem is different – and now he is saying there are “reasonable” republicans – he needs to face reality. (I see he is from Montana – does he face re-election?)

    • 79 carolyn
      July 10, 2014 at 9:42 pm

I heard him. Sen. Jon Tester. He did NOT say it is ok to give up on highways. He said this is something that should have been done and should be done. He was good and positive and optimistic.

      • 80 99ts
        July 10, 2014 at 10:00 pm

Didn’t come that way to me – he said the border situation is critical – the other things could be bypassed. I saw no point to make one so much more critical than the others – the collapse of a road system in a developed county is quite unreal.

But I’m not there – he may well be a good Senator – I heard too much about the “good republicans” – they are non existent.

  21. July 10, 2014 at 9:45 pm

I hope some Midwesterners are here tonight with reaction to next week’s forecast cold spell.

For you boomers out there, I stopped at Sears today because I needed a drill, and left feeling very sad.

They had a great price on the cordless drill that some website (can’t remember which one) gave the highest rating to — $30 for a Black & Decker lithium battery drill. Sadly the lowest price Craftsman (Sears brand) drill was on sale for $70 — so you know which one I bought.

The last time I was at Sears was to purchase something similar. I was there about lunch time and outside of the clerks who were all young, I was the only person under 70 and nonwhite in the store.

Their merchandize on the first floor is 100% hardware stuff. It’s like going to Home Depot without the lumber and gardening areas, in a retail store. Very odd.

Their inventory/website is not current. Their website said that the drill I purchased was not available within 50 miles of me, yet the label on the charging device is dated Jan 2013, so I think it’s been in the store awhile.

If Sears wants to survive, they need an aggressive campaign to lure new homeowners, especially young Asian and Hispanic customers. Here in my particular exurbia, there aren’t many home improvement stores (DIY Center which used to be Builders Emporium [check them out, great prices], Home Depot and an Orchard Supply Hardware) and recent immigrants probably have never heard of Sears. I’m not sure what their reputation is with the established Black community, so can’t offer advice in that regard.

Anyway, I left feeling very sad, thinking that Sears is doomed. It’s been a loooooooong time that I’ve been the youngest customer in a store.

Arapaho and anyone else interested in the VW/works council story: Seems Corker is eyeing a bill permitting companies to create labor boards or employee-involvement programs giving workers more of a voice in workplace issues. Haslam and Corker are both “singing a different tune” now about union or work councils or something they can work out to give workers a place at the table. WHY? Because they are in “fruitful discussions” with VW about getting the SUV at the Chattanooga facility. Reading between the lines, I’m guessing VW has told them there’s not a chance in h— to get it if there’s not something worked out for the employees to have some voice. Every other VW plant in the world has the works council so common sense tells me that VW wants ‘something’ here or they will take their business somewhere else. I could be way wrong, but not the way the article in the paper reads.

I would wager a $ or two that he never watches his own show.

When I was teaching we were all encouraged to record and watch our own sessions – it is a great way to improve!

In Oz world one of the major pickups is overusing “um” – every sports person ever interviewed has “um” as every 5th word ๐Ÿ™‚

            So true,
When I was in sales, “Wall Street”, we had to record ourselves so that we could learn to cut the speech, get to the dollars.

Over the years, that bothered me because I wanted the individual or company that I was working with, to understand what they were buying. Turning over money is a big deal but Wall Street is all about money, money first and honesty last.

    Eisenhower Tunnel (Colorado)

Colorado’s Eisenhower road tunnel is one of the world’s highest, located 3,401 meters (11,158 feet) above sea level, at the highest point on the U.S. interstate highway system.

It played a significant role in the women’s rights movement when Janet Bonnema was hired as a construction worker in 1972.

Her supervisor misread her name as James, but realized his mistake and reassigned her to administrative duties after workers — many of whom were former miners — cited the common superstition that a woman’s presence can bring bad luck to a mine.

Bonnema sued and was allowed to return to the tunnel.

A new equal rights law was subsequently passed.
