LH, the quotes contained in this article are horrifying and sickening. It makes me ashamed to hear ignorant, hateful Americans say these things. This is the ugly American at his/her worst.

Totally agree JG. It’s absolutely chilling to read those quotes. I highly recommend Rachel Maddow’s opening segment tonight. She takes the time to highlight the organizations in Dallas who are reaching out to the children and trying to help the federal government deal with the crisis.

    * The most common response you hear from Republicans when asked why they won’t pass immigration reform is that they don’t trust President Obama to enforce the law. Jennifer Rubin reports on a poll from a GOP firm showing that even Republican voters don’t believe this argument:

86% of Republicans believe Congress should take action to fix the immigration system. 79% of Independents agree. The GOP excuse for not acting – the president won’t enforce the law – is not fooling anyone. Some 72% reject that argument, including 2 out of 3 Republicans and 69% of Independents. The idea of waiting for reform is also a loser with 80% of voters wanting Congress to act this year, with nearly half calling it “very important” they act this year. Some 77% of Republicans say it is important that Congress act, while 53% say it is very important.

Maybe the target audience GOP leaders are speaking to are the one third of Republicans who do buy this silly argument.

Plum Line. I hope they get absolutely crushed in Nov. CRUSHED.

The debate over the Hobby Lobby case has been plagued by many problematic presumptions, but there’s one that even many people who disliked the decision seem to sign on to without thinking about it. It’s the idea that the health insurance you get through your employer is something that they do for you—not just administratively, but in a complete sense. But this is utterly wrong. You work, and in exchange for that labor you are given a compensation package that includes salary and certain benefits like a retirement account and health coverage. Like the other forms of compensation, the details of that insurance are subject to negotiation between you and your employer, and the government’s involvement is to set some minimums—just as it mandates a minimum wage, it mandates certain components health insurance must include.

We’ll never say it enough: Barack Obama is the most honest, caring, dedicated president EVER. Gosh, he oozes honesty and empathy for his fellow americans. He is simply the best. THE BEST.

5 children and an adult fatally shot in Tx. mass shooting. Beyond horrific. Reported “domestic dispute”. What kind of human shoots 5 kids?
