Heeya Chips!!
Happy Saturday to all!!
Helloooooooo Africa, have a fab Saturday! Morning everyone!
POTUS will be in Texas, I wonder if that Governor will met him at the airport. Governor Perry has been having alot to say about how Obama should fix that border where those people are coming in the U.S. from Central America. Knowing POTUS he might decide to meet with Governor Perry.
President Obama sure is loving himself some Austin. The blue oasis of Texas.
Woot! Woot!
I’m beginning to think his Presidential Library will be there 🙂
Mooooooorning Austin Girl!
MooOOOooooorning, Mrs. van Persie.
Never say never.
We’ve got the education, commerce, business, tech, music, food, and diverse culture.
…and the warm weather!
Too bad the great city of Austin is surrounded by Texas. Same way I feel about Atlanta in Georgia!
I guess since the Democrats running for office doesn’t want POTUS campaigning with them, he has to be out on the road raising money for those Democrats. That’s the game of politics. It’s bad for me to be seen with you, but I’ll take the money you raise.
The Air National Guard crack me up, they RT almost everything!!!!
They couldn’t let that golden opportunity pass. The man makes a cowboy hat look gooooooooooooood.
Jim Wright’s new piece. http://www.stonekettle.com/2014/06/self-evident-truths.html
It took a Civil War and another modification to the Constitution to force the nation to acknowledge certain rights, rights that should have been self evident but weren’t – and apparently still aren’t to a significant fraction of the population. Women’s Suffrage, the Civil Rights Movement, the battle for Gay Rights, these struggles exist because for far too many Americans, Americans who should damned know better by now, the truth of human rights just isn’t all that self evident.
And the fundamental problem is this: For Americans, our rights come without responsibilities.
The Founding Fathers apparently had a much higher opinion of us than we deserve. As such they overlooked this simple self evident truth: rights must come with accountability – otherwise, for a population increasingly without reason and prone to extremism, rights become less about individualism and more a license for violent ideology and unhinged fanaticism without consequence.
And you don’t have to look very far to find proof of what I’m talking about here.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Excellent, as always.

I love, love how this kid grabs PBO and appears not to want to let him go. Forget about everyone else. He’s mine, as she just hangs on. Love it. I would love a book of PBO and FLOTUS and kids by our indefatigable Pete Souza.
Howdy, Africa! I’m with you on the NEED for a Souza book of PBO & FLOTUs with kids! I can’t wait. There’s so much material, Souza could have a series….with babies….with toddlers……with preteens … with youth….you get the picture. 😉 [This dumb thought just popped into my head >> I bet if he identified the kids too sales would skyrocket/]
Hey VC. All of the above that you said. Great idea. I would buy every singe book.
Me too! They could definitely be classified under Therapy along with their more obvious classification. 😉
Yes, it’s time to celebrate. We’re in a historic bull market. GOP conservatives keep fighting the wrong war, against the Obama economy. Meanwhile, the Obama bull market keeps roaring ahead! …
No matter how self-destructive conservative opposition gets, demographic trends are also rapidly diminishing the power of the party of “angry white men,” as GOP Sen. Lindsay Graham calls it, further fragmenting his party…
So, yes, in spite of the relentless GOP opposition, the attacks, legislative gridlock, economic headwinds, and global macroeconomic land mines put in his path, in spite of the ever-possible, unpredictable black swan, the Great Obama Seven-Year Bull Market, as financial history books will likely call it, may just keep thriving, overcoming obstacles, and roaring ahead …
First Obamacare, and now The Great Obama Bull Market – glad to see that they are not afraid to attach our President’s name to something so positive and beneficial to everyone 🙂
GOP greatest fear. LOL.

Goooood morning HZ, hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
Morning dearest:) I would move back to CA in a heartbeat if I could afford to:) Lived in Coronado when hubby was in the Navy. I got spoiled. Big time:) Can’t afford a tree house in Coronado, but it sure was wonderful…. Thank you, HZ, and stay inside today if it’s too hot outside…relax and read…or nap…or dance…Enjoy your day, whatever you choose to do!

TWO in a row! 😯 Maybe I *should* dust off my running shoes……
.
.
Nah (too much energy).
Congrats on your persistence in research as you tried to nail down a meaning for ‘furst’.
Responded to DF on previous thread re: upcoming water wars in the West (haboob in AZ yesterday), but had a bad URL in that tweet, which I’ve deleted and replaced with these two:
Know what you mean about the lack of water.
It’s hard for people inundated with water (i.e., Japa “I hate this winter” 21, etc. — don’t mean Japa himself, cause he’s in the risk management business, and he can see beyond his nose, but other more self-absorbed who suffered through this past winter) to even comprehend what it’s like to go months (or even years) without rain.
This is an AP story from Memorial Day that made front page news in the print version of my local newspaper (both tweets link to the same article):
From the article:
SAN FRANCISCO (AP)
“Nearly 4,000 corporations, farms and others hold senior water rights in California, exempting them from government-mandated cuts in water use during the third year of drought. Here is a look at five of them, along with how they obtained the right to draw water from waterways and how they use it…”
This is what you get when you vote for the “Corporations are people too” party.
Thanks, Arapaho…this is really a BFD. Most people are not even paying attention to this…they got theirs (for now) so we just won’t think about it…big mistake…big. Huge!
It’s infuriating that we’re still living in the “Chinatown” era when it comes to water rights.
Last November was the 100th anniversary of the opening of the LA aqueduct from the Owens Valley.
Glad to see that our President will be in the “cowboy” West this week.
CBS radio news is broadcasting interviews with people who want PBO to visit immigration facilities while in Texas, but they report that WH officials say this is not on the President’s schedule.
I’m usually attending a gardening class at Armstrong Nursery this time most Saturdays, but there’s no class this weekend.
I don’t know if all Armstrong Nurseries have the same schedule of classes, but they’re very informative. I’ve learned that ants protect aphids (so if you have an ant problem, they may be a symptom of an aphid problem) and that in CA, any fertilizer, potting soil, etc. that refers to vegetables or fruit trees is exempt from CA sales tax).
Upcoming classes in my area are on waterwise gardening, cacti & succulents, attracting pollinators ad small space gardening.
The class I attend is held under an enormous oak tree with a canopy that must be at least 60 feet. So even if it’s hot, its pleasant under the tree. Another reason it’s so important to do what we can to protect our native trees.
args score.
Argentina gooooooooooal.
Arg GOOOAAALLLL

Afghan election results should be announced on schedule: candidate
KABUL, July 5 (Xinhua) — Afghan presidential candidate Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on Saturday called upon the election commission to announce the results as per schedule set for.
“As per timetable, the election commission should announce the preliminary results of the election on July 7, the final result on July 22 and the power transfer inauguration on August 2,” Ahmadzai told a press conference here.
He made the remarks while contender Abdullah Abdullah has suspended his engagement with the election commission over alleged fraud and vote rigging during the presidential runoff held on June 14.

Morning all!
With Ukraine now in control of the border checkpoints, what will all those Russia soldiers, er, separatists do to get back to Russia as the offensive rolls on?
Good morning LL. Two options, die fighting their way back or surrender.
Somehow I don’t think these fighters have the blind loyalty to Vlad that Hitler’s SS had to him.
The only ‘loyalty’ most of them have is to booze and drugs ….
BTW, LL, when I Google the first three letters of my location, the fourth option is our local public library, with four letters, it’s the second option and with five letters, it’s the first option. (This may just be for me, since the entire Internet knows where I am.)
The Yelp reviews are all 5 stars.
I love my local library, one of the best in the country, though it did shorten its hours during the week (opens one hour later, closes one hour earlier) in response to GWB’s 2008 economic meltdown. Thanks, GWB (not).
Our library system is restoring all the hours we lost after 2008. And I’m glad to say that we weathered the storm without layoffs.
Great news.
Glad to be in a blue state that recognizes that provides actual service to its residents.
Don’t think there’s plans to reinstate library hours here, but to be fair, its open on the weekends (Sat 10-5, Sun 12-5) and it opens an hour earlier than before on Sundays.
How come the solicitor general did not present this to the sum bag male court?
some fancy footwork from the args.
Good game so far, almost helping me recover from Brazil v Col.
yup. good game. y’day was an abomination. I quite at half-time.
Great game! 😀
After reading this from Up Thread, I said to Self……Go ahead and bring it down for more sets of eyes. 😉
I’d Hope you all understand and pardon me 🙂
I’ve heard similar reports on CBS (home to some of the most radical RWNJs like @laralogan, @markknoller, Sharyl Attkinsson, etc.) radio news.
Dems should run on stock market (aka 401K) performances under Dem presidents vs. how it tanks under GOP Adms. and be relentless when GOP/MSM sputter in response.
I’m seeing fewer Yellow cards in this round
Argentina lacks diversity in their squad. I had already committed to cheering them for Belgium defeated USA.
lovely arg passes. but for kompany, they would be up 3-0 by now.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. —An unidentified man called and claimed to be on Harvard’s campus and armed, and that he had placed bombs at several buildings, according to the Harvard University Police Department.
Good morning, TODD!
Hello Ms. Chips. What a great day to be alive!
Once again our President has a busy week scheduled as usual.
Today I am asking all the true Prayer Warriors to pray this week continuously never ceasing while our President.
I as well as others here who beleivei in the power of prayer must never stop.
I truly believe these last two and half years we are going to see more extraordinary challenges that POB will prevail and overcome despite of the hate, racism and disrespect. He will have a Congress in 2014 that he will be able to work with. That is when the shit will get real. Not just from the other side but from those who say they support and voted for him. That so-called “loyalty”.
I am not making predictions here just know spiritual warfare when you are connected to the True Vine.
Arg to run the clock out. Great first half!
I don’t condone the CHP’s actions, but she was WALKING on the freeway.
The officer had no right to assault the woman, but she should not have been a pedestrian on a freeway.
To Protect and Serve.
Not To Detain and Beat.
A trained person, must always refrain from Hooliganism.
No excuse for that cop hitting the woman. It is possible she had some mental problems or was drunk, either way the cop had no business beating the crap out of the woman. We expect better from them.
I always find this kind of thing very unnerving. If officers are supposed to be trained, and have a mandate to serve and protect, it bothers me when their first response is to resort to violence. What happened to the training that should give them skills to de-escalate tense situations? Really, I won’t say my confidence in these folks is non-existent but it’s not very high.
HT. very good game so far.
Indeed amk.Gotta run out to the grocery store and get back during HT
I’ll say

Not usually a Leftie or Dem leaning known Column pusher……but….but….his backhanded comments might interest a few…..here.
It was a revealing convergence Monday when the five-member conservative Supreme Court majority delivered the Hobby Lobby contraception decision even as President Obama announced that House Republicans had officially shelved immigration reform.
Both disputes reaffirmed the GOP’s identity as the champion of the forces most resistant to the profound demographic and cultural dynamics reshaping American life—and Democrats as the voice of those who most welcome these changes.
And both clashes captured a parallel shift: While Republicans took the offense on most cultural arguments through the late 20th century, now Democrats from Obama on down are mostly pressing these issues, confident that they represent an expanding majority of public opinion.
Veteran pollster Stanley B. Greenberg captures this almost unprecedented Democratic assurance when he declares flatly: “Republicans are on the losing side of all of these trends.”
