Tim Howard is a god among mortals. So proud of this team! And of, course the other god among mortals, PBO!

Hey NerdyW, I’ve discovered something about you! 😉 You take your soccer so seriously that you don’t TALK while serious games are going down! I don’t remember seeing/hearing you DURING any of the games when I’ve hung out in the village. I can imagine you shouting ‘Shut up’ when some ringside soccer newbie says the wrong thing during a game. 😀 Hope you enjoyed the game!

I saw on the previous thread where the House of Rep. has 144 Republican votes for immigration reform. I’m telling y’all this whole “we will not take a vote on immigration reform from Boehner is a ruse”. They are counting on having a lock with the mid-terms (I pray we prove them wrong) so they are appeasing their right flank of the party by not voting on immigration before the 2014 election. Once the mid-term is over they are going to vote on either comprehensive IR or a piecemeal reform with the intent of winning back some of the Latino vote and our awful media will be all praising them to high heaven for moving on this reform. You just wait and see. They think we’re stupid.

You know what, Bob, I am not at all impressed with all those “144 Republicans in favor of immigration.” Nancy Pelosi offered them a chance to sign a discharge petition and bring the Bill up for a vote, but none of them stepped forward to sign that petition. These are grown men and women. They don’t have to be bound by the dictates of the tea baggers and the cowardly Republican leadership. They need to show some backbone and stand up for what is good for our country. I don’t know the rules of the House. But if it is possible for Nancy Pelosi to bring another discharge petition, given the fact the one before failed to get the majority, she should do so. That way she would force these 144 Republicans to go on the record to show that they genuinely support immigration reform.

Good to see TOD has remembered it roots – thought I had joined the World Sport Diary when I came in this morning (my world). It is seriously freezing – our coldest day to date this year – and I thought it must have frozen my brain. 🙂

Seems the GOP is staying with their losing option of being against whatever PBO is for – can’t see that being useful in November. The dems will have everything and more to win back the house.

Nerdy, thanks a trabillion for the wonderful round-up of the day, I missed half of what happened so this is the perfect way to catch up. Thank you Legend!!!

Love Kamala Harris’ response to the Hobby Lobby ruling:

Why isn’t Kamala Harris mentioned as a possible presidential candidate? Is it far-fetched for her to go from where she is to that position? She strikes me as more ‘relaxed’ or ‘confident’ here than you-know-who. Inquiring mind wants to know.

      • July 1, 2014 at 9:51 pm

I believe she’ll make a run someday. She and POTUS are very good friends. She was among the first to go to Iowa to help him. So she knows how to do it. She’s fabulous and I would love to see her jump in whenever she’s ready.

    • July 1, 2014 at 10:28 pm

I love my Attorney General! By the way, I understand that the Supreme Court has clarified that the Hobby Lobby decisions applies to all forms of contraceptions.

RWNJs are fixing for an ugly showdown at the border. I despise their special brand of hateful lunacy.

    • July 1, 2014 at 8:52 pm

Unfortunately, Meta, you are so right.

The lead story on both @LATimes and the local CBS All-News radio affiliate @knx1070 is that mobs of RWNJ (aka “I’ve got mine, Jack”) forced a bus with 140 children from Central America to turn around in Murietta. The bus’ passengers were instead deboarded in San Ysidro, aka Tijuana North.

These people are stark raving lunatics and have no idea what they and their actions look like to the bus passengers (the future of this world, not them) and to anyone not living in the US.
