The 5 practicing Catholics at the SCOTUS; Roberts, Thomas, Alito, Kennedy and Scalia deserve mocking, All of Us pointing and Laughing at them.

Note how prominent Constitutional Lawyers are not booked on TV, Cable, etc to share their expertise..

These 5 and the TBGOPers are willfully destroying these United States and the national Media is their Sugar Daddy.

      • July 1, 2014 at 12:48 pm

        Agree, Nena.

As mentioned in the previous thread, Mr Green’s ‘Christianity’ is no different than the ‘Catholicism’ of those 5 – it’s the same use of ‘religion’ to suppress others, particularly women and girls. In Mr Green’s case his ‘Christianity’ is his justification for misogyny, as well as, for being anti-Semitic (h/t LL), anti-Islam and, undoubtedly, racist.

In the history of the SCOTUS, there were just 9 Catholics appointed. Today 6 are serving. Sotomayor is not a practicing Roman Catholic…so it has been written. 3 today are of the Jewish Faith. JFK was made to swear off his Religious Doctrine.

The HL ruling is so offensive to me. For Pete’s sake, they ruled using a 1993 law protecting Native Americans nothing was about Corporations. Then they said that this limited? So now they are the Judge, Juror and Prosecutor on what constitutes religious beliefs?

The Gallup poll with 30% approval or whatever of the SCOTUS was taken in May or so.

Someone I read yesterday said, “Well the RFRA doesn’t specifically ‘preclude’ corporations from religious rights, therefore…..” Ugh! It was not until this loony period in history where there was even a whiff of a question that religious rights do not belong to a corporation!

This was from an actually well-reasoned article on this decision. I have to find it and post a link. It made some excellent points but I thought missed the big picture. But the reasoning concerning the RFRA (which this author thought was a TERRIBLE law) is just ridiculous.

This is insane. Its ruling isn’t limited to Hobby Lobby and the four types of birth control they were objecting to. It now allows so many other companies, listed in the article to do the same as Hobby Lobby plus, reject all forms of birth control. SCOTUS has also instructed lower courts who rejected those companies claims as frivolous to reconsider aka vacate their decisions in light of the Hobby Lobby ruling.

    This is not good.

People have to wake up and vote…vote…VOTE!

If you know people who are apathetic, you have to rally and prod them. This is not democracy in action. This is 5 men destroying the lives of millions of women and families.

This ruling simply put the rights of corporations over the rights of their employees. I would be very curious to know what the majority of constitutional lawyers think of this decision. Does it even make sense ???

These 5 conservative judges will probably go down in history as the WORST group of Supreme Justices in the history of the USA.

this arg team is so aarrgghh. not wc material at all.

  14. July 1, 2014 at 1:15 pm

And those things that have to be done start now. It’s not enough to simply get angry at the Supreme Court, or congressional Republicans, or Senate Republicans, or Fox News, or right-wing radio. Your righteous indignation does nothing without action because every single person who was mentioned above is out there and he or she votes like clockwork. The sad truth is, your vote counts just as much as theirs.

So how does the progressive moment in this country move forward? By doing more than voting. By engaging in democracy…

      Good Afternoon TODVille.

      JER, a good one.

I can offer these additional scenarios:

      1) Jehovah’s Witnesses will not pay for any blood transfusion their insured employees may need because it is against their beliefs.
      2) Seventh Day Adventists will remove a portion of their employees’ salaries – that portion that would have purchased pork and other items that are against 7th Day Adventists’ religion.

      What about transplant? CPR? Vaccine?

Any employer can forbid their employees to access certain medical practices under the disguise that they violate the employers’ religious beliefs with total disregard for the employees’ own beliefs and medical needs.

        July 1, 2014 at 1:46 pm

JER, there will be no denial of HIV/AIDS treatment because the moment the employer realizes that the employee was gay, the employer would fire the employee! 😉

    Any Regrets for CIR?

No, The Voice said. It was wise to wait for congress. Now, that POTUS has been informed that CIR is dead, POTUS is talking to AG Holder and others to what he can do. The votes are there. It will pass today.

Sweet. The Voice using Boehner and Cantor to debunk his loaded rightie question on CIR. Major termed it as political and for POTUS to use his executive powers before the Nov elections. Josh was not having the talking points.

Don’t you love it Nena – Major Garrett asking his snarky question was essentially saying President Obama’s statement yesterday on immigration reform was purely political. The timing was suspicious. He should have never believed Boehner anyway. Unbelievable. Josh really schooled him. I am noticing today that the jackals are having difficulty asking any intelligent questions about Boehner killing immigration reform. The problem is that GOP obstructionists just look bad. President Obama is governing and they are not.

I submit: if you want to run your company using religious principles, you cannot incorporate. You assume all personal liability, pay taxes on every dime of profit. You must run it as an INDIVIDUAL – i.e., a sole proprietorship. You do not get the advantages of an ENTITY and the benefits of an INDIVIDUAL. You can’t have it both ways.

A Virginia delegate dropped the f-bomb on live television Tuesday while responding to his indictment on charges related to a sexual relationship he allegedly had with a minor.

Del. Joe Morrissey (D), 55, was indicted Monday by a special grand jury on four felony charges stemming from a nearly year-long investigation into the relationship between Morrissey and a 17-year-old receptionist at his law office, according to Richmond TV station WWBT.

Now that is Not welcomed nor needed right now in VA to distract the obstructionism by the GOP of denying 400K plus medical coverage. When Dems get into sexual escapades, the media and the GOP come alive. Under age accusations taint all. Dems get rid of this 55 yrs old, Now!
