I’m getting a sense today of what it must feel like to be a sporting great, and rather than people offering praise and congratulations for a wonderful achievement, they cast doubt over it – eg ‘She must be on drugs!’ It’s a sad thing.
morning to you dearie. I have one more tweet from yesterday’s event. it’s from RT Rybak, former mayor of Mpls. He is in South Dakota right now to attend the SoDak Dem Convention but here he is taking a selfie with the entire crowd at the Lake Harriet Band Shell. His enthusiasm for the President and all things progressive is infectious! 😀
BP has asked a US court to order a “vast number” of businesses to repay part of the compensation awards they were paid in the wake of the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
The oil firm said the administrator in charge of processing the claims allowed businesses to inflate their losses.
Last year a US court agreed the process was unfair but now the British company wants the money back with interest.
BP has fought a long legal battle in US courts to limit the compensation bill.
Morning. Wow, missed the morning call so I’m late to the party this am. Chips, you ability to ‘sense’ when a thread opens is just miraculous! Can’t imagine how you do it!!!! It’s going to be a gorgeous summer day today–perfect for R&R for the president, not to mention the rest of us.
Pisses me off too, Donna. The GOP is wreaking havoc to our states wherever they have the majority. Soon we’re going to have nothing but a scarred landscape formally known as the USA. We have to redouble our efforts to get this destructive force out of power, but when Dems themselves turn traitor, it really sucks.
Donna, I agree with you. We rail against the repubs., but there are some dems who can easily be bought. Case in point in NJ when some sided with Christie. I wrote yesterday how some unions, including the NJ teachers’ union has endorsed the repub. running for Congress in NJ 2. It has come to light he has a lobbyist on his payroll who advocates for him with labor. So while he votes against labor issues he “brides”, I guess the leaders to win their endorsement. It is hard not to be cynical.
sometimes Diane….,it is truly on the workers….Union Leaders have a scared trust…and sometimes they betray that trust….but it is the rank and file that truly holds the power….just as We the citizens abdicate our power when we are not actively involved in our democracy and vote…so too does the rank and file abdicate their when they are not actively involved in their union and hold the leadership accountable….
WE the People….must stand together and move Forward Together!
Pure amateur, son-of-a-bitch should have asked for a bag full of money. But no! This motherfucker wants a job, not a no-show job like the kind that someone from Tony Soprano’s crew would get, but an actual job. This is really sad; this guy sells out half his state, and for what. I truly hope this guy ends up in jail and has to go through Dante’s nine circles of hell.
What’s even more breathtakingly stupid about this is, did he actually think that no one would ask any questions?
Like no one would notice his shiny new job???
It all makes so much sense now, now I’m coming to really understand what President Obama is up against. From the Democrat in Virginia that flipped to help the Republicans take the house and all the way to New Jersey and the way the Democratic machine backed Christie. Even some of the Democrats that I have watched my entire adult life, even some of them try to keep an arm’s length distance away from President Obama. If President Obama’s election as President has taught us anything is that political affiliation doesn’t mean a damn thing, not when you have Democrats acting like Republicans. I feel like I’m having an epiphany this morning. I’m truly starting to believe that President Obama is going at it alone, and he’s not worried or bothered by it. In my lifetime I have never seen a more remarkable person.
Spot on Don! Thank you for articulating that so well. While I was watching PBO’s speech, I had that same feeling but I didn’t express it out loud. But that’s exactly right. He’s alone in Washington but he’s OK with that.
But he is not entirely alone….he was able to do some of what he did in his first term due to the leadership of Pelosi and Reid…a lot of DEMS lost their seats supporting the Health Care law….
nothing is 100% of everything…The politicians who are corrupt are corrupt people…period…Full Stop…
Because there is a Difference between the GOP and the DEMS….
You are not wrong, Don. However, he does have us, and we have his back, and The People will speak, have spoken, and THEY do not see us coming, because they have forgotten Who We Are. Silent no more.
MAY GOD DEEPLY BLESS OUR DIPLOMATIC,INTELLIGENT AND COMPLETELY COMPASSIONATE PRESIDENT…PERHAPS ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ SHOULD UNITE AND SUE JOHN BOEHNER FOR LACK OF PERFORMANCE ON EVERYTHING BUT A BARSTOOL!
Late (as usual), but yesterday was the anniversary of Helen Keller’s birth.
The next time an emoprog or other entitled “journalist” whines about some perceived “wrongdoing,” they should be reminded of the obstacles a great human spirit can overcome.
Here’s a quote from the article that mentions TODville (and PBO and Bill Nye) favorite Neil Tyson:
“In a sentiment Neil deGrasse Tyson would come to echo more than a century later in his articulate case for why our smallness amidst the cosmos should be a source of assurance rather than anxiety, Keller observes…”
So many great photos from “The President and First Lady’s Day” yesterday.
LOVE the photo where the Marine dog, Chesty, is reveling in the attention from PBO. Not a dog person, but love the photo (can you imagine how the dog would have reacted to R-Money? Pretty much like all children did — wailing to be any place but within reach of that plastic puppet.)
LOVE Michelle’s dress and @PeteSouza’s photographs.
I know it’s summer and school is out, but IMO President Obama’s Minnehaha Park’s town hall should be required viewing for all American students. How could anyone who is not a greedy SOB disagree with anything PBO said on questions that truly relate to American citizens on:
– Community college
– STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education for girls
– Higher education reauthorization (not sure what this was referring to)
– Freedom House program for EMTs (started in Philly in 1967)
– Equal Pay (young woman working for Fortune 500 company was paid $3 less an hour than male colleague without a degree)
– Climate change (from a high school senior)
Good morning TOD.
Bill Maher was wonderful last night. So funny and of course I always remember the one miilion dollar check he gave to OFA in 2012. The money was good, but all the publicity he gave and the public expression of his support and love—well, that was priceless. The GOP was squealing about enthusiasm gap and there was Bill’s check and the one million small donors from 2008 that grew to THREE million in 2012.
Happy memories.
🙂
You are too much!!! 🙂
Good Morning Chips dear!
I couldn’t believe it Donna, furst again! 🙂
Chips sweetie let me explain this to you nicely. YOU CHEATED! 🙂
I don’t think that’s technically true Donna:

I’m searching, searching everywhere on the web to corroborate these definitions and for some unknown reason I can’t seem to find any ANYWHERE… I’m 😯
Well, your Google must be broken Donna 🙄
Ahhh that’s it. I knew there had to be a legitimate reason because it couldn’t possibly be that you were MAKING THIS ALL UP!
NW, Please Wake UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m getting a sense today of what it must feel like to be a sporting great, and rather than people offering praise and congratulations for a wonderful achievement, they cast doubt over it – eg ‘She must be on drugs!’ It’s a sad thing.

fuck’em.
You pretty much summed it up, AMK. BP has proven itself a despicable company.
Bullshit. Continue to boycott BP.
or as my Kasper would reason, “I escaped! See how smart I am? Give me a treat!”

Oh, thank you Jackie! 🙂 Have a blissful day!!
She’s incredible being able to “sense” exactly when to post first. It’s amazing isn’t it JG ❓
Yep–must be a ‘supernatural’ power.
Totally psychic, IMO.
All that work we did to GOTV for that election and get the Dems that narrow majority and this scum sells it all for the almighty $$$$
This really pisses me off (excuse my language)
Pisses me off too, Donna. The GOP is wreaking havoc to our states wherever they have the majority. Soon we’re going to have nothing but a scarred landscape formally known as the USA. Should be bribes.
There is a “fool me once” story with the unions in NJ – how many times does Christie have to lie about his intentions before they stop supporting him?
99, you are so right, I mean how many times must Christie kick the Unions in the nads before they realize that he’s just not that into them?
sometimes Diane….,it is truly on the workers….Union Leaders have a scared trust…and sometimes they betray that trust….but it is the rank and file that truly holds the power….just as We the citizens abdicate our power when we are not actively involved in our democracy and vote…so too does the rank and file abdicate their when they are not actively involved in their union and hold the leadership accountable….

Well, what was the job? If it was to be quarterback of the New England patriots and be married to his wife, I may do the same thing.
Just kidding. 🙂
LOL….seriously Jovie, what on earth could make this man sell his soul for a few pieces of silver?
I’m not in no way claiming to be perfect, heck no. But you have to have some morals,
It seems that is what he intended to do – and then he was caught doing it. A payment for preventing disadvantaged folks getting access to health care.
What’s even more breathtakingly stupid about this is, did he actually think that no one would ask any questions?
Like no one would notice his shiny new job???

That picture is gorgeous. This picture has got to be 100yrs old, at least. Wonderfully preserved.
