He really does seem to be happy just browsing in stores, eating fun stuff and meeting people–it’s like a mini vacation. I’ll bet he’s driving the SS nuts. I hope he’s got a real vacation planned in August. And if any TPer or media person complains about it, I’m personally going to sock them. I’ve had enough and if that doesn’t put the fear of God in them I don’t know what will.

Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Friday morning. Congrats swb, on being first this morning. Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America. TGIF>>

If anyone is looking for a good Dem congressional candidate to support, please try Manny (Mannon) Trivedi, who’s running in SE PA to replace Jim Gerlach. Manny is a great guy, an MD of Indian background who was a medic in Iraq and was embedded in the first assault group in Baghdad. He understand family issues, health care, education and childhood needs and he’s a supporter of the president. This is a turnaround seat we really need in the House.

Kinda looks like my Pearl. Except her ears flop down, which makes her even cuter. Even though she is kinda bald. She’d been through a lot before we adopted her. She is a treasure.

Great – now I want to go home and pet my puppies.

It’s way up there, for sure. The look on their faces says it all.

They really do Meta, and for FLOTUS especially, as a descendent of slaves, it must have been an astonishing visit.

Hi Chips. Let’s not forget PBO’s ancestry included colonized Kenyans, so he has a stake in knowing how Africans in general were regarded. We too often forget the history of his father’s people, IMO. Have a great day.

    Good Morning TOD!

JG just gave me a great idea. How about we have a twitter/facebook/blog money bomb next Friday? With Boehner threatening to sue to President we can use that as our inspiration to replace every Republican member of Congress. We could ask people all week to come to twitter, facebook, or their favorite blog and post information about their favorite candidate and get people to donate. We need to start doing things to prepare ourselves for the midterms and since the Repubs say they are done legislating this year lets give them a permanent break.

What say you and would the twitter/facebook brigade be willing to help me promote it if you think it’s a good idea??

      June 27, 2014 at 9:24 am

I think it’s a terrific idea. I was just thinking this morning that many of us don’t know who’s running and there may be many that we would support if we knew, especially if we’re in a red area with no one to vote for. We would have to have the donation and information go directly to the candidate since we’re not set up to do that. But, if nothing else, it would give people information that would help make them informed voters and give them a frame of reference on election day.

I was glad to hear POTUS say that if Boehner were so concern about executive orders being over extended then he ought to try passing some legislation.

In answer to whether or not the Democrat Dorman has a chance at the governor’s chair in Oklahoma, the answer is I don’t know. We just finished primaries, and he had no competition, so wasn’t in the news. He is a strong candidate, so we will work for him, of course, Mary Fallin is terrible, but she lost a cohort when T.W. Shannon lost the Republican Senatorial primary to replace Tom Coburn to James Lankford, who actually is no better or maybe a miniscule amount.

Election campaigns will start in earnest here in August. I’ll keep you posted.

I have read reliable info that Sam Brownback, governor of Kansas is in real trouble. The Democrat is right now ahead in the polls….If you’re read Thomas Frank’s What’s the Matter with Kansas? you know how earthshaking that is.

Although I now use twitter daily I still consider myself to be a novice. So can someone explain to me the point of being on twitter and locking your account so that only people you choose can retweet your comments or share the tweets on other sites? I guess I’m missing the point of twitter because I don’t understand this practice….

      June 27, 2014 at 9:50 am

      Me neither. Drives me crazy.

    • June 27, 2014 at 9:52 am

I think people do it sometimes to keep suspect people from following them. You can follow unless they approve. Otherwise, I’m not sure why because you can’t RT any of their tweets. I’ve also noticed that some people will unlock their account after a time.

    • June 27, 2014 at 9:54 am

It puzzles me too Donna, but often when someone I follow locks their account it’s after they suffered abuse from a bunch of trolls. I’m never sure if they want their tweets RTed (ie ‘manually’), so usually I don’t.

    Good Morning TOD family

I wanted to share a bit about what our Red to Blue team is doing here in CA and build on Donna 4 Dems excellent “money bomb” suggestion.

Every time the Republicans do something “infuriating” – we need to harness our anger into action. We can donate, we can volunteer.

Each week our team is calling for Democrats in the Senate and House. Yesterday we called to invite folks to an event with Alison Lundergan Grimes and Elizabeth Warren on Sunday. How fun is that? Next week we will call for Democrat Michael Eggman who is running against Jeff Denham in District CA10. These are small phone banks (5-10) but they make a big difference for many reasons.

    1. They help motivate the voters in the area and bring in not just voters but new local volunteers
    2. They are a real boost to the morale of the campaign staff because they appreciate help from folks who are willing to work for their candidate even though they don’t live in the area
    3. It builds friendship and cooperation within the team
    4. If keeps our “phone banking” muscles toned and ready for the big push in Sept and Oct.

Just like Donna suggested we money bomb by using social media to inspire folks to donate to campaigns, I am asking all of you to join me as we make calls into areas where a Democrat needs our help. If you aren’t sure how to do that, you can send me an email and I will point you in the right direction, or you can make calls with our Red to Blue team. All you need is a cell phone, an internet connection and some time…
