And the something that’s very, very wrong is that people keep voting for them, the media keeps promoting them, and nobody in their party calls them out for what they are. If people don’t like weirdness, they have to stop voting for it.

Bob, I’m betting that’s a very short ceasefire that’s possibly intended to demonstrate to the world who’s the aggressor and who isn’t. Can’t imagine that Putin would ever honor it–he’s beyond shame.

      • June 20, 2014 at 2:12 pm

Yes, Jackie, agree with you!! The reason for my tweets is simply to inform President Poroshenko & PM Yatsenyuk that folk are paying attention and we know who the aggressor is. They’re definitely taking the ‘high road’!!

Five men wrongfully convicted in the brutal 1989 rape of a jogger in New York’s Central Park have settled a lawsuit against the city for $40m (£24m), local media report.

The racially charged case shocked the city during some of its bleakest years.

The sum must still be approved by the city’s comptroller and a federal judge.

The men, teenagers when the crime was committed, served 7-13 years in prison before their exoneration in 2002 when evidence pointed to another man.

    Hi Todd,
Thank you all for calling that fool McAngry out. I hope it lasts all weekend.
Iwhich reminded me I saw the movie version last night of the father and son duo who were on a shooting spree in the D.C. area. And to my surprise McAngry’s name was mentioned trying to discredit the Chief of Police, Charles Woods(I believe) who was doing all he could to stop this madness. The press was not helping either and this old fool had to add his two cents.

He has been so wrong about so many things. He has been incompetent all of his life. Now,it has caught with him and it keeps getting worse
He is too republican to even care. He keeps trying to make history and history is showing who he really is. He is a fake!

Don, I understand what you are saying. I worked in the CJS as a Court Reporter.
The money make not make them whole, but may be it will help the racists DA, court officers, court clerks and “stop and frisk” politicians think twice about labeling, convicting, condemn and judging innocent children without their parents knowledge that they were being held for hours without food, water or bathroom breaks, threats of having their families’ benefits take away if they did not confess to a crime they did not commit.

Both Mayors Koch and Bloomberg and Donald Frump played a major part of justice being denied to these young men and their families for over a decade. It was divine intervention that solved this case. I have to believe that same divine intervention will being them PEACE toward becoming “whole”. The money is just a side order.

It is more than time for all of the political has beens and the want- to- have-beens to go far away from the public eye. Hanging on and trying to be relevant and failing miserably is so embarrassing. They suck up all of the air while they stand in the way of new, the young, the bright, the bold, and the strong. Their time is over. Furthermore, we cannot count on them to be the wise elders capable of wise council because they have been self-absorbed, conniving, empty-hearted people all of their lives. The world is changinging for the better and we do not need them here to drag us down any more

John Fugelsang on Stephanie Miller this morning, was bemoaning how Dem’s need to call out the GOP as out of step with the mainstream, and claim the mantel of REAL American values. This was in response to a gay caller who is deeply involved in his Methodist faith and how disappointed he is that Dem’s have not reclaimed the progressive Christian values and call out the evangelicals who have become the religion of hate.

This Greg Sargent article dovetails well:

Therein lies the problem, when you bring the word “Christian” into any discussion about politics and government there is no workable solution other than not bringing religion into any discussion about politics and government. Usually when the word Christian is used in politics it is used in conjunction with denying people the right to vote, denying people welfare when they need it, denying communities the help they need to serve their citizens. I was born and raised in the church, and I still don’t know if I’ve ever met a Christian.

      • 91 57andfemale
        June 20, 2014 at 2:19 pm

It was a really interesting discussion on the radio, this morning. Growing up in the 60’s, progressive, social justice churches were so important to progress. I’m Jewish, and being progressive was a value taught in every synagogue that I knew. There was a nefarious move to conflate Religious and Conservative and it was Ronald Reagan who welcomed them with open arms. That faction was political, using religion as a club. And we let it happen. The churches then followed the politics.

Stephanie told the story of country music star Chelye Wright, who, when she came out, said she was gay and a Christian. Stephanie recalled Sean Hannity saying that you couldn’t be both.

How far we have come from those social justice priests who led civil rights marches in Milwaukee when I was growing up, and all the Jewish liberal kids fighting for rights on the college campuses.

WASHINGTON — House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) sent a letter to President Barack Obama on Friday blaming him for the humanitarian crisis of unaccompanied minors crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, and calling for National Guard troops to go to the border to address the surge.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/20/john-boehner-border_n_5515252.html

It is a ” strongly worded letter “…..

Yes…my congressman swears that HE was the one that sent this letter to PBO! They all have their talking points and shamefully use this humanitarian crisis to bash the President and fund raise off of (True…Jan Brewer comes to mind, there are probably others) Republicans never care about children of any sort so its rather amusing (if it wasn’t so sad) that they exploit this too.

      They need some facts. http://americanprogress.org/issues/immigration/news/2014/06/18/92056/5-things-you-need-to-know-about-the-unaccompanied-minors-crisis/

As attention on this issue shifts from the nation’s southern border to inside the Beltway, it’s important to keep the following five facts in mind.
      1. Violence is causing these children to flee

      2. Smugglers and traffickers prey on these children, who are increasingly younger and female

      3. This is a regional crisis

      4. There are no free passes into the United States as unaccompanied minors can be deported

      5. Some in Congress are playing politics with a humanitarian issue

Great article that should be sent to every single one of these RW complainers…

How magnanimous of Lil Rand Paul. MTP, again? Sheesh.

    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/rand-paul-i-dont-blame-obama-for-crisis-in-iraq/

“I think the same questions could be asked of those who supported the Iraq War,” Paul answered. “You know, were they right in their predictions? Were there weapons of mass destruction there? That’s what the war was sold on. Was democracy easily achievable? Was the war won in 2005, when many of these people said it was won? They didn’t really, I think, understand the civil war that would break out.”

He went on to say he doesn’t “blame” Obama for the current crisis in Iraq. “And what’s going on now — I don’t blame on President Obama,” he said. “Has he really got the solution? Maybe there is no solution. But I do blame the Iraq War on the chaos that is in the Middle East. I also blame those who are for the Iraq War for emboldening Iran. These are the same people now who are petrified of what Iran may become, and I understand some of their worry.”

Fantastic posts today!! Crazy busy but wanted to stop by and say hello and share something that happened this morning. A woman come in to my office who was in an auto accident. Her auto insurance med pay is now maxed out and she can’t continue with her physical therapy. I told her that she could submit the appointments to her health insurance and that we would pay the insurance co. from the settlement.

Well it turns out she doesn’t have insurance. She explained to me that she is self employed and can’t afford it. I asked her if she had applied for insurance through healthcare.gov and she told me that she didn’t even bother after hearing how bad it is and how expensive. She didn’t know anything about the subsidies, didn’t know about no exclusions for pre-existing conditions. Yes, she watches Fox. I stay away from political at work but I did tell her how the subsidies work and that it is really affordable. One of the women in the office piped in that she and her husband only pay $54 per month and my client was shocked. As it is now, she is distraught and scared and facing a health crisis without insurance.

We will probably work out something with her providers but wow–this is not the only time this has happened in my little office. Every time it is just heartbreaking that politicians and pundits lie causing terrible consequences.
