Early Bird Chat

Pete Souza: “Call him the baby soother. At the Congressional picnic on the South Lawn, the First Lady held a young baby who began crying (top photo). The President then came over to hold the same baby and was able to quiet her down as the First Lady reacted in astonishment in the background of the bottom photo.” June 15, 2011

Pete Souza: “We had just arrived at the helicopter landing zone in Chicago and instead of walking right to the motorcade, the President and First Lady walked past their vehicle to the edge of Lake Michigan to view the skyline of their home town.” June 15, 2012

    Good Sunday Chipsticks…TODers!!!

Happy Father’s Day to all Fathers, Dads, Granddads, Father-figures, Mentors…while not often acknowledged, the positive presence of a father in a child’s life makes a world of difference. Blessings to those who are being/have been that positive influence.

Good morning everyone. Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful fathers here at TOD. My husband is going to spend father’s day fly fishing with a young man who lost his father 2 years ago to cancer. First our son is taking us out to breakfast. Hope all here have a great day.

So glad the Obama’s get a quiet day away from the White House. The 2 ceremonies this weekend were so spectacular. Friday was as beautiful as the Ireland trip. So sad most of America missed it. Now off to get a few things done before the day begins.

Thank you Chips, Nerdy Wonka and all here who participates in this community. We are the hope we are waiting for. Have a wonderful day.

I didn’t realize it was only the US living back a century or two. We changed about 40 years ago – I can handle everything except height – have to convert that back to feet and inches to make it real.

You don’t have to tell me amk – never have I written so many letters to politicians telling them what a disaster they are. Abbott government is spending millions on defense – but forget about health care – he has also removed funding from environmental groups and virtually all overseas aid – closed down the department in charge of same!

Abbott is GWB light & our treasurer is “double the size” Paul Ryan – the mind boggles

Tony Blair should go away and shut up – cannot believe what this man has done & still he is out there making pronouncements – the John McCain of the UK – and he used to be a labor man!

      he should go sit down

      June 15, 2014 at 9:27 am

Now what do we expect Tony Blair to say? He was GW Bush right hand friend in that war, so most likely he knew Bush were lying about the WMDs, listening to Blair is just like listening to Bush, Cheney, C. Rice, Rumsfeld or any of those who lied us into that Iraq war, all they are going to do is keep lying.

Mitt Romney holds ideas summit with elite Republicans to choose a future presidential candidate. Surprise, surprise, they choose Mitt Romney.

Instead, the scene at a luxury resort in the Rocky Mountains quickly became a Romney revival. Minutes after the 2012 Republican presidential nominee welcomed his 300 guests, Joe Scarborough, the MSNBC host and former GOP congressman, urged them to begin a “Draft Romney” movement in 2016.

“This is the only person that can fill the stage,” Scarborough said at the opening-night private dinner, according to attendees.

    good morning/day every one!

    seems all the political cockroaches who are directly & criminally responsible for the Iraq mess have been flushed out of the darkness & are out to continue spreading their crap;

WTF Brian Schweitzer?? That guy really rubs me the wrong way.

    June 15, 2014 at 9:04 am

The man is an asshole. You may have your disagreements with President Obama, but to buddy up with Romney and insult and slur the president’s character? All for money, GOP laughs, and TV face time? That’s low.

It says a lot about Schweitzer’s moral fiber.

His going to that reunion doesn’t make any sense except if he’s contemplating the idea of switching parties…

An opportunist of the highest order…

      • June 15, 2014 at 9:28 am

I think there are people currently Republicans and Democrats who are trying to figure out how to do a left/right merger coalition. Take someone like Rand Paul who is trying to appeal to the more libertarian types on the “left” by paying lip service to drones, surveillance, and legalization of pot. Then I think you have Schweitzer who is going to be pro oil and gas and try to say just enough insulting things about President Obama and Clinton to get attention from the more libertarian Republicans. It is a stupid strategy but that is what I think they are attempting.

Yeah, because what people really want is candidates who don’t really stand for anything, will bend with any wind and will compromise every principle to be president. Sounds like a winner.

Yep I saw that too. He seemed truly surprised and kind of stumbled when Steve Kornacki called him out on that and the Hillary reference. Did he think it wouldn’t get reported?

    • June 15, 2014 at 9:26 am

And to think he was in the running for the our VP in 2008!

Nerdy, It says alot about Schweitzer moral fiber, it also says he will never get my vote. And not to many of that 47% Mitt Romney talk about like they were dirt.

You’ve got that right, AB. I can’t imagine anyone I know voting for this cardboard cutout.

He won’t get mine either. I am normally one of those people that feel ANY Dem would be a better president for this country than a Republican, but I absolutely would sit this one out and not cast my vote for this guy. No way. I can promise you that.

Morning and Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers in our lives. It’s a glorious sunny day and we just had a great online conversation with our 21-month old granddaughter who said, Happy Day, Pop-Pop! My husband is thrilled. Couldn’t ask for a better present.

Though watching a parent *debating/arguing* with a child typically strikes a nerve, watching this “negotiation” for cupcakes between this three-year-old and his mother does bring a chuckle.

I have a hotmail email & just got an email from microsoft talking about updating their terms of use & privacy statement. This is unreal

As part of our ongoing commitment to respecting your privacy, we won’t use your documents, photos or other personal files or what you say in email, chat, video calls or voice mail to target advertising to you.”

So nothing about whether or not they are reading my email, documents etc etc – but they won’t use them for target advertising. Wonder what they do use them for?
