What did the grape say when it got squashed?

Nothing, it just let out a little wine.

Hiya all you O’s!!!! It was an especially great getting up day in TODdytown for me today. Did my early morning bd run along the trail with my furry friends (only 30 secs off my personal best time of 2 years ago, got work to do). Then Zumba’d my way home from the gym. Now I’m off to treat my summer visiting grandson to a pajama ride for ice cream.

btw, how bout our guy in the WH, doing it for our students. Unlike his loooney predecessor who said, “What a terrible thing to have lost one’s mind”, PBO knows the correct phrase, ‘a mind is a terrible thing to waste’ and then just gets it done.

Is she the most adorable precious ever! Hope she has a wonderful day tomorrow…filled with love, laughter and joy. I remember when my daughter was that age…I wanted to trade her in for a new model. She got past the tough part and turned out pretty good:)

Woowee my sister and I both were a handful at that age. Not that Sasha will be the smart-assed, sneaky little terror that I was. šŸ™‚

PBO and FLOTUS will nonetheless need plenty of hugs for a while – virtual and physical.

    • June 9, 2014 at 8:38 pm

President and Mrs. Obama has raised a phenomenal young ladies. Ms. Sasha is growing up behind the scenes in the protective care of her mother, grandmother and very busy but engaged father. She is also growing up before our eyes as on of the first daughal ters. Tomorrow I know will be a special day for Sasha on her day and for her family that she is no longer just a little girl but a blossoming woman. Happy Birthday Sasha!

My thoughts also go to my niece who will also turn 13yrs old in November and to little Christina Green who did not make it to 13 because of that fateful day in January 2011 when she went to meet her congress woman Gabby Giffords whose birthday was yesterday. I will never forget that beautiful child who was born on 9/11….a forever angel.

John McCain is either a lying SOB, or he’s senile. Or both.

The Taliban offered to turn OBL over to the USA after 9/11 but of course that did not play into the Bush Admin plans to invade Iraq to kill Sadam and get Iraqi oil.

This is a damning indictment by Juan Cole, Df. We need more people like this calling McCain out on his hypocrisy. He goes about lying about the president while he drags his own ugly, dictator-loving baggage behind him and not one person in the media has the brains or guts to call him on it.

Starting tomorrow and for the next 2 weeks I’ll be volunteering to help GOTV for our Lt. Governor (Anthony G. Brown) who is running for Governor this year. Early voting starts on Thursday for our Primary so my time here will be limited until after the primary. Governor O’Malley is term limited so after he leaves office early next year he will have plenty of time to hone his skills for his Presidential run in 2016.

    GE TOD!

    Finally šŸ™‚

    I did this 4 months ago w/ AT&T U-Verse….it works….got my bill lowered $1308 for the year!

….Pretend you’re canceling your service: You might be tempted to just be honest and ask for a discount. But that probably won’t work. Cable networks are extremely expensive to build. But once the equipment is in the ground, the cost of providing service to one customer is very low. Almost all of your monthly cable bill goes straight to your cable company’s bottom line.

That means that your cable company is going to be willing to give you a hefty discount to keep your subscription — but only if they actually think you’re going to cancel otherwise. If they think you’re just bluffing, then they have no reason to offer you a discount.

“It pays to play hardball,” says a customer service representative who worked at an Oregon call center from 2002 to 2009. “Threatening to cancel will get you further than outright asking for a discount.” So just say “I’d like to cancel my service please.” You’ll almost certainly be transferred to a “retention specialist” whose job it is to change your mind…..

It IS real! I read about this “wonderful invention” the other day. Thought to myself, gee…this is stupid! Just someone’s idea to profit off the blood and fear of others…they talked about how these were cheaper than building a bunker for them to escape to. WTF. WTFF. I have an idea. Rather than do stupid things like this, why don’t we just get to the gd crux of the matter and pass some common sense legislation! There’s an idea who’s time is WAY THE HELL OVERDUE! Cowards. The Dem in VA. that took a bribe is no different than what any of these congressional cowards do with the NRA, Heritage, Gun Owners of America…etc. They take $$$ for votes and pretend they care. VOTE THESE PEOPLE OUT!!! Done with my rant. For now. Can’t wait to read your piece on this, LL.

    • June 9, 2014 at 8:40 pm

I’m trying to imagine how these children feel having to undergo this “practice” of trying not to get shot while they attend school.

    • June 9, 2014 at 8:47 pm

BTW, LL, a shooter wouldn’t have to bother removing those stupid ‘shields’ if they are firing an assault weapon of any kind. I’ll just leave it at that.

      Except for this ….

      • June 9, 2014 at 9:06 pm

#EnforceWellRegulated …. why is that such a difficult caveat of the 2nd Amendment for everyone to grasp and act upon?

As all of you know, one of my preferred approaches to doing so is tried-and-true ‘market’ pressure – Liability Insurance requirements for every gun & ammo manufacturer, seller and user.

Other approaches could include actually requiring folk owning a weapon with more than six shot capacity to join a State-run militia, i.e., the National Guard and have access to their weapons of war only during training and deployment.

        #EnforceWellRegulated

” Liability Insurance requirements for every gun & ammo manufacturer, seller and user.”

I have been saying the same thing for years Bobfr. It makes sense.

      • June 9, 2014 at 9:09 pm

Yeah, the old cop killer bullets are probably better than ever at what they do. . . 😄

        • June 9, 2014 at 9:14 pm

I’m intentionally not bringing very specific technical information about ammo, Carol, because I try to avoid (or, at least, alert as with my links to Peter Clifford’s reports on Syria) posting what would be truly horrific facts. So, let’s just leave it at the fact that Lanza would have laughed out loud if he’d confronted children under those mats … before he slaughtered them.

smh – Just recently I skipped over an ad for ‘stylish’ bulletproof clothing apparently geared to celebrities etc, and I remember thinking in passing that they’d be marketing it to the general public soon. I was leaning a bit to the snarky side; I never thought ‘soon’ would be this soon and geared towards kids!!! In fact at the time I was thinking more along the line of opportunistic. I don’t really know what to say about this. I cannot imagine what a regular practice like this one would do to the psyche of kids, or the ideas it could put in some young disgruntled kid’s mind!

      • June 9, 2014 at 9:27 pm

It’s all bad and all MAD, VC. It’s a path to having the most heavily armed civilian population on the planet become Somalia on steroids.

          June 9, 2014 at 9:32 pm

Well, Bobfr, when Sandy Hook didn’t stop them I virtually threw my hands in the air. I still haven’t gotten over the fact that those little children being massacred IN A PLACE WHERE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE was not enough to shock U.S. legislators into action!

          • June 9, 2014 at 9:42 pm

Am right there next to you, VC. I thought that Sandy Hook would be a transformational moment. Instead, more than 35,000 Americans have been killed by People With Guns in the ~ 18 months since that horrific slaughter of innocents.

We need to cancel the currencies of Hate & Greed in America. Only then can we escaoe the accelerating spiral into ever more destructive domestic terrorism.

Today we were all disturbed by the VA (D) Senator stepping aside so that Medicaid expansion could be stopped by the GOP.
    I was shocked, too.
But I shouldn’t have been. In New York, the last two state senate races were WON by democrats who then stepped aside to give the GOP the senate gavel.
We like to say: Elections have consequences.
We say: When democrats vote we win.

GOP says; We are going to lose many many many elections.
So, we will find ways to win anyway by subverting the democratic process itself.
    ——————————————————————————–

Sunlight on this giant problem would be the best way i can think of to solve it.

(In NY the group of four state senators that switched to GOP in the prior election—-3 out of the 4 of them are in jail for $$$ crimes.
This cycle has 5 “breakaway” dems. So far none in prison.)

Switching parties is nothing new. But switching parties to hand states over to the highest bidder seems like a terrible threat to our country.

SEN. LINDSEY GRAHAM LET’S THE CAT OUT OF THE BAG

Good news must not go uncontested

    By Steve Benen

    ————————————-

But Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) made some comments the other day that suggest something more fundamental – and less nuanced – about the strategy.

Sen. Lindsey Graham says President Barack Obama ā€œthought everybody would be cheeringā€ the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. … ā€œHe wanted last week to be a great week.ā€

And so Graham and his allies pushed back, ensuring that it wasn’t. Graham had related concerns – did you know Graham thinks ā€œradical Islam is a threat to our way of lifeā€? – but the result was something almost unimaginable: a major political party convinced much of the country that the release of an American prisoner of war was something other than good news.

It is really nothing to do with Sgt Bergdahl & some Senators are so seriously brainless they say it out loud. It was all about hating on ANYTHING that President Obama does.

I cannot even imagine what this lot will do next – is there anything lower than calling for a POW to be executed – because black President?

You know what I wish? I wish that we could all just start/have a running list of everything that the RWNJ’s think is ok now…sort of have everything all laid out and pass it around the intertubes and Twitterverse for massive, thought provoking dissemination. Would be best if we have these things laid out with citations, because Lord knows, someone out there in RWNJ world might just be thinking that enough is enough and not mind looking at some facts for a change!

Who wants to start? We can keep adding on….every day will bring a brand new thing to ignore, disregard, become the new normal…etc

Don’t worry if your dogs eat the banana peels. There is no evidence shows the banana peels are bad for dogs’ health. Researchers in Taiwan discovered banana peel extract can ease depression, maybe banana peels would improve the mood of your dogs.

Bananas are just treats, don’t expect your dogs absorb nutrients from them.
