    Bringing this thought over.

You know what I wish? I wish that we could all just start/have a running list of everything that the RWNJ’s think is ok now…sort of have everything all laid out and pass it around the intertubes and Twitterverse for massive, thought provoking dissemination. Would be best if we have these things laid out with citations, because Lord knows, someone out there in RWNJ world might just be thinking that enough is enough and not mind looking at some facts for a change!

Who wants to start? We can keep adding on….every day will bring a brand new thing to ignore, disregard, become the new normal…etc

    • June 9, 2014 at 9:35 pm

Oddly, that’s sort of what I’m working on for tomorrow’s piece.

🙂 Awesome, LL..then can we just add on and have addendums or updates or something? People need to just have all this bullshit in one place to swirl around….this is just getting ridiculous and more and more dangerous by the day.

Support for a POW is no longer ok…or comes with caveats. Guns trump individuals rights. Voting while a POC is not ok. Christianity is the only religion that this country should have. Science is bad. Women can’t think for themselves. Seriously, I bet we could collectively come up with HUNDREDS of examples of this RW ignorant infestation of what passes for being ok now…WE HAVE TO BE THE MEDIA WE WANT TO SEE!

Good! This is a great way to have our TOD community involved in something that we can really do well…and throw it all out there to the universe and hope that people pay attention…hope that it goes viral many times over and that we have a real impact on making this lunacy clear to everyone. This needs to stop. This is not how a great nation is governed.

LL, remember the hashtag #BeforeBlackPresidents from a while back? People still use it occasionally. Pretty much a similar idea.

Oh, we should definitely work on this. Great idea, df.

    • June 9, 2014 at 9:49 pm

Most excellent idea, df, and I’m more than willing to contribute. Let’s start with this obscenity …

… the craven profiteering from a product that not only would be a meaningless barrier to anyone with an assault weapon (of any kind), but in the very act of implementing it truly terrorizes children. The first thought I had upon seeing the image was of the first two decades of my life when ‘air raid’ sirens would sound, every first friday of the month, and the response was to crawl under a desk in a classroom – as if that would do anything even remotely meaningful in a nuke attack. And, I remember the endless nightmares conjured by those drills and the images we were shown of actual nuclear explosions.

We’re still terrorizing children and for the very same reason – the GREED of the Weapons manufacturers and dealers.

Absolutely. Before my time, but I remember my mom telling my sister and me about this. It was terrifying

        • June 9, 2014 at 10:01 pm

Yes, it was terrifying and that is why I find this particular image so loathsome.

Hopefully, others with a much larger reach will find it equally loathsome and do something about it, in the spirit of what df has suggested. Perhaps Ms Maddow will help ….

Did I mention I was unfollowed by someone who’s followed me nearly from the time I got on Twitter? The only reason I can think that he did so was because on his profile he has #Hillary2016. And, let’s be frank, I was rather harsh on Mrs. Clinton last week.

I ran into a lady who supported Obama over Hillary prior to his first election. She remained a supporter since then. We were in a minority in our circle of friends in the Primary days. She mentioned wanting Hillary to win next time. I told her I was not so excited about the idea, but would vote for her over any Republican. She thought there was no one else and she wanted to see a woman President. I mentioned I would love to see Senator Elizabeth Warren or Gov. Martin O’Malley, but we can talk later. My talks with her in 2008 introduced her to Sen. Barack Obama. If we have any good alternatives to HRC I will give her my own take on the situation closer to the 2016 Primary run. My main argument against is I want a President more Left of where her husband was. Also I want someone that will continue the change of policies not go back to where we were prior to PBO.

“They can’t pretend like we aren’t here and we don’t count!” DF, this is what I was crying my heart out to a dear person a few nights ago. They just think that they can take our votes from us by treating PBO like crap and all of us who voted for him as well. This crap gets to me at time and my heart breaks so many time during the day that I just have to sit and scream.

But one thing I do know we are fighters in this family. I really do think that LL’s observation and suggestion will help tremendously with all of us right there helping in this great work. Yes, it will be difficult, but when has it Not been difficult for our president. I wrote a letter of encouragement to our First Lady today. Wow. And we both seem to remember it as though it were yesterday. Your “I remember the endless nightmares conjured by those drills and the images we were shown of actual nuclear explosions” conjured up my own memories of dreaming at night that the soldiers were coming down our street to kill my family. Those nightmares seemed “endless” for me, as well.

I had to walk thirteen long blocks to school in the fifth grade, crossing two major roads, and seeing two backyards digging bomb shelters besides the bomb drills in school. I remember looking up every time a plane flew over worrying that it would bomb us and I was not in a safe place. That tells you a lot as I had faith in the teachers keeping us safe. Today’s kids know their teachers cannot keep them safe due to seeing on TV news about school kids being shot by crazed gun toters.

I like the fact that none of the young ladies came to the White House wearing flip flops like that group ( I think it was a volley ball team) that visited during Dubya’s tenure. I may be old-fashioned in regard to this, but such visits, while fun for all involved, become part of history and the attire of the visitors such reflect the grandeur of the place, the occasion, and the respect for the office.

CEB, I agree with you. Those young ladies are all beautifully dressed. And, you know something, you can see the influence of FLOTUS on all of them. Eight years ago they would not have been dressed in sleeveless dresses with high heels. Her influence is pervasive, whether people realize it or not. She has changed the way an entire generation dresses.

Tacky statement, but can’t help it: Hillary looks so old-fashioned and out of date in her everlasting pantsuits!

This is o/t but it’s something my Hubby has told me for a long time that banana peels are toxic to dogs. Not True!
Don’t worry if your dogs eat banana peels. There is no evidence shows the banana peels are bad for dogs’ health. Researchers in Taiwan discovered banana peel extract can ease depression, maybe banana peels would improve the mood of your dogs.
Bananas are just treats, don’t expect your dogs to absorb nutrients from them.

Kill me now, please. You may all know this already, but I’m just noticing. Apparently Diane Sawyer interviewed Hillary and now not only is it the topic for discussion all over Twitter, but it’s being replayed on CNN. (I find myself unfollowing a few PUMA people tonight.)

Sawyer asked HRC “You really didn’t tell Pres. Clinton about the capture of Osama bin Laden?” Hey, now, I’m no body language expert, but I think I’ve heard that when you look to the right before answering a question (she answered “No”), you aren’t telling the truth. But what do I know? (Who cares what the answer is — if it were I, I would have told him — but that’s the only part of the interview I saw and picked up on.)

And that’s my final mention of HRC this evening. Gag.

This is my “let me finish” segment for this evening.

Since 2008, I’ve noticed that politicians who are heavily hyped by the MSM without the commensurate ability/public trust/charisma tend to crash and burn…and sometimes in a very humiliating way. We saw it with a large number of GOP candidates (Palin, McCain, Jindal, Bachmann, Rick Perry, Rubio, Cruz, etc.) ; we also saw it with *certain* Dem candidates who were often on cable TV during PBO’s early presidency years (Alan Grayson, Anthony Weiner, Dennis Kucinich, etc).

Well, with all this media hyping, I think HRC has reason to be concerned…on one hand, the public can be swayed easily when they’re not paying attention, but when it comes to the Presidency, it’s damn near impossible to pull a fast one in the Obama era. Willard Mitt Romney learned this hard way. When the public is paying attention, they are REALLY paying attention, and if it’s one thing people will not tolerate, is the media shoving a particular candidate down their throats without their consent. And given that it’s a midterm year, when so much is at stake for us Dems, for the media to try to distract voters with this 2016 nonsense is downright offensive!

If I were HRC, the first question I would ask myself is: Why is the media so friendly?

    • 99 Layla
      June 9, 2014 at 10:33 pm

Couldn’t agree with you more, hf.

And, my ONLY commentary on Ms Clinton has been and will continue to be aimed directly at her – What Are You Doing To Achieve #LandslideDEMS2014 – and I will remain unrelenting in that task until the polls close on 4 Nov 2014. She had best do a fantastic job of helping DEMS prevail, at the Federal, State and Local level, or she can forget ever being in the WH, except as a guest.

      Yes WE MUST

    • June 9, 2014 at 10:42 pm

What I see happening and a BIG part of the problem is that MSM has nearly convinced people that she’s our only choice, she’s the only one suited to the task, she’s the only one who deserves it. It’s really out of control.

Dems are also noticing that the GOP are pushing her Presidency – if Mrs Clinton is the nominee – you can guarantee a white republican male, with white republican wife and children being the GOP choice. This is why Christie was such a good bet before bridgegate & why Jeb Bush has no chance.

I’m glad Dems are noticing. Because it was one of the first things I noticed. All this nonsense with Karl Rove is being orchestrated by the GOP. All these silly polls showing Hillary beating certain GOPers in Iowa or PA when she cannot even help get candidates elected in Dem primaries, is being orchestrated by the GOP. I hope the Hillary supporters are aware of this.

On a happy note…..this evening, participated in what is called Rocket Readers at our public library. About twelve women volunteering to help kids become readers. We had two sessions….6 & 7….about thirty kids in both sessions. For one half hour each child worked with an adult in reading, for another half hour, they played word games in a group. I am the games mistress. Played Zingo, bananagrams, and junior scrabble. A lot of fun. The kids liked the games, and personal attention for reading is always beneficial. This program will continue every Monday evening until the first week of August. Every one of the tutors was enthusiastic and considered it a good experience. We hope all the kids come back next. Some of the students were from Spanish speaking homes….they speak and read English, but some of the parents spoke Spanish only. Fortunately, we had two teenage girls who speak Spanish and give the parents the info they needed. I also saw that we have a Spanish book section in our library. A delightful evening.

I guess you guys didn’t get your invitations?

The most generous donors to the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation will convene on June 6 at the Goldman Sachs headquarters in Lower Manhattan for a daylong event to discuss the family’s philanthropy with the Clintons themselves.

The event, which is held annually, will include a morning talk and lunch with the Clintons and their daughter, who as vice chairwoman of the foundation her father started has taken on a leadership role. Later, Mr. Clinton and his daughter will join donors for dinner at Birreria, the chef Mario Batali’s rooftop restaurant in the Flatiron district of Manhattan.

    ………….snip …………………

Ms. Clinton and her parents have held fund-raisers throughout the country in the past year to build up the foundation’s endowment. In addition to the scheduled events, Ms. Clinton and her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, are expected to join her father in a high-stakes poker game to raise money for the family’s philanthropic organization, whose wide-ranging work includes projects in America’s inner cities as well as in African villages.

The typically low-key donor briefing is likely to attract more attention this year as Mrs. Clinton contemplates a run for president in 2016. Many of the foundation’s major supporters are also the Clintons’ most devoted political donors. Mr. Cheng, who is overseeing the event, served as a finance director for Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2008.
    …………………………..
The Clinton Foundation has used the Goldman Sachs auditorium for the event before, but the location underscores that Mrs. Clinton is undeterred by criticism from the progressive wing of the Democratic Party that she is too close to the financial industry.

Gag and scream is too mild……..if it wasn’t so late I would go for a walk.
I am so disgusted with these two. That ” wide- ranging work projects in America’s inner cities” is another term for gentrification. They just added ” the African villages” to make it sound like they really care. Ever since he brought his office in Harlem, money has been pouring in for everyone except the residents who have struggled to lived there when no one else. Judges, lawyers and politicians are hanging out in Harlem at night as if they are in Paris. France. I am all for change as long as it includes everybody. That is not what is happening. The Clintons close ties with Goldman Sachs is the reason why.

If I sound suspicious because I am. I do not trust them and know Billary has a score to finish because HE was impeached.
And his egotistical ass still does not feel that HE did anything wrong. If they even think they are going back to the WH to se the record straight they are in for a rude awakening. After President Obama cleaned up all of their mess(including GWB and his dad) they need a legacy……real bad. A real Black man has shown them how to do it and they need a retake. It is not going to happen.

They showed who they really were leading up to the 2008 election. They play dirty. POB and FLTOUS are on to them. We are on to them and she and everyone else who are not working hard to give POB a Congress he can work with are going to have to EARN my vote.
It’s like precious gold to me.

Wow LDS. I rarely post on TOD these days- usually lurk, but you have told the truth here like none other. I will be savoring this contribution for reference. Thank you so much for the clarity.

I have a better idea: Why not send the repug Congress to Mars.?
They sure are not doing anything here but taking up water and air.
