      Hi Linda,
Hope you are having a wonderful Friday.

Reverend Al reported this incident and another Senator did the same, and he stated that he left before it ended. He went to FOX and did an interview while the hearing was still in session because he didn’t want to hear anymore.

He said that there was nothing “new” to learn. This guy left the session, goes to FOX to do an interview, and they are saying that the President is wrong; not interested in facts just FOX.

57&female, as per our conversation yesterday concerning Greg Sargent have you read his latest hit piece against PBO and dem senators regarding the POW swap? This guy is a scumbag and cannot be trusted. All rumor and conjecture spun and slanted against PBO and dems. With friends like these….

Eric, I am sooo happy to hear you say that!!!!!!!! I have not liked this man for a very longtime. A few days ago, in one of his anti-Obama articles he called the President Obummer! I do not know why he is in the rt hand column onTOD or even in the blog roll.(no offense to anyone on TOD, just my opinion) Pls do not hammer me…

        June 6, 2014 at 6:38 pm

Hello Chips. Yes this is the article. He is slick in his game but notice none of his direct quotes support the premise he is pushing that dems dpn’t trust PBO. It is all innuendo. He says senators but only quotes Mancin and even his quote does not support his premise. This is how msm undercuts PBO from the left.

        • June 6, 2014 at 6:57 pm

Hiya Eric. I honestly didn’t read his post that way, if anything I thought he was telling Dems, like Feinstein, who don’t have the President’s back on this, to put up or shut up, eg:

“…. some Dems have offered half-baked responses that seem motivated by politics. As a New York Times editorial puts it, “fearful Democrats” have been just as quick in resorting to a “duck and cover response,” and just as quick to jump on the anti-Bergdahl “bandwagon,” as Republicans have been.”

…. “Senate Dems in particular should do better. We need to hear serious, coherent arguments from them as to why they think this deal either was — or wasn’t — the right thing to do, within the boundaries of what classification permits….

…. What we really need to hear is evidence that Senators did all they could to fully understand the true nature of the decision the administration faced — as well as serious, coherent explanations for their conclusions about it.”

I read that as him being largely supportive of – or, at least, sympathetic to – the Admin’s actions on this.

Granted, I’m a big Sargent fan, I trust his reporting. I don’t always agree with him, but I do think he’s honest.

Wished my Uncle Joe & Steve could have made it to this ceremony. Uncle Joe was a bomber pilot on that day bombing before the troops landed and Uncle Steve was in the Pacific on a Naval Vessel. Young men, both of them and still living. They were just honored in Duluth at the Memorial Day celebration.

Oh, you must be so proud, Roberta! Wow, one of the bomber pilots on D-Day! What an accomplishment for him to carry through his life. I’m so happy for you that they’re both still here. My Dad fought in the Pacific; a young lad, too. He’s still here, but rarely ever speaks about the war. As someone mentioned here a day or so ago, the two wars were very different experiences for many of the soldiers. Not that it wasn’t hell for all, just different levels of hell, I suppose.

Spandan’s latest, and as always fine, essay ….

Obama Gains Back All Jobs Lost During Bush Recession

“Imagine where we would be if the president’s jobs proposal – presented multiple times to Congress – were allowed to pass. It would add an additional 2 million jobs. Imagine if immigration reform wasn’t being held back in the House by the coward who is so afraid for his job that he won’t allow a vote on a measure that has majority support. That would generate over 3 million new jobs.

The GOP seems to like hurting the American people in groups of 5 million at a time. Without the Republicans’ stubborn obstructionism, the American economy would have over 5 million more jobs today (for a net gain since the end of the recession of 14.4 million jobs), and without their scorched earth policy, we would have over 5 million people with health care coverage under Medicaid.

I am under no illusion that this month’s jobs report, combined with the data on their obstruction will shame the GOP into action. But it should summon every American who is even thinking about skipping the November midterms to the polls to cast their vote to help the President and drive out the cruel GOP.”

    Link: http://www.thepeoplesview.net/main/2014/6/6/obama-gains-back-all-jobs-lost-during-bush-recession

I just love President Obama, which I’m admitting for about the 3283rd time. I just watched the Brian Williams/PBO interview. Of course, on D Day there in Normandy, the first questions were about Bergdahl and then about Snowden—–which PBO handled intelligently and with ease. But I loved his response when he was asked about his grandfather, who served in Patton’s army. He said he would have loved for him to be there today, to see the respect given to him and all those who were part of that historic day and to see his grandson as the Commander in Chief of this great country —–President Obama said his grandfather would have been so proud and “more than a little surprised”—-and he smiled this gorgeous smile——it was a Melt My Heart moment—it was so charming. He is so genuine—-and this very special human being. There will never be another like him. Ever.

Don’t you just love the way President Obama says ‘BRIAN, I HAVE TO TELL YA’ when he responds to the question about real confusion on why the 8 members of congress were not notified. You can hear the exasperation in President Obama’s tone. I could just image PBO thinking to himself – Brian watch my lips. How many times do I have to answer this question.

        • June 6, 2014 at 7:59 pm

What part of that is so hard to understand? Really?

There was a very short window on this operation. Time and secrecy were of the essence. That’s all there is to it!

          • 92 Ladyhawke
            June 6, 2014 at 8:14 pm

Exactly, it’s not that complicate. But Brian opens the interview with this negative narrative that there is still some real confusion about the notification process. That question has been asked and answered multiple times. Bottom line, when you have members of congress like Darryl Issa who leaks like a sieve as a general practice, notifying congress was not a good option.

Michelle Bernard is falling all over her; says Hillary is differentiating herself on Syria and ACA from the President and that Hillary is explaining why.

What I see, is that the Hill is trying to throw President Obama under the bus, and I see her joining forces with the repukes to undo Obamcare in time. I have a real gut feeling that this woman is not a Democrat and she and Bill will put a serious whipping on Democrats if she gets in. I am not liking this. They are saying that she was good for not going after Palin.

Matthew is literally slobbering; spit all over his face. I wish I knew how to tweet. I would tell him to shut the hell up!

Chgo news is asking “Will Michelle Obama run for Mark Kirk’s senate seat?” They’re saying she’s the only one with a high enough profile to defeat him, or some such proposition. They did say she had never indicated an interest in running for political office but thought her recent activities indicated a possibility. I guess they have never heard President Obama repeatedly shut that speculation down, saying his wife has no interest in political office. (selfishly, I wish she did—–it would be stupendous—–Senator Obama from Illinois—–one more time)

I think any discussions between the two is impacted by the fact that Snowden is in Russia – this is a large negative for Putin – and he knows it – I would think Snowden has little of benefit to Russia (Putin would have known most if not all of GG great outpourings for the past many years) – and Putin wants him gone – but where??

Everyday I dream of the Attorney General’s team going in and lifting Snowden up out of there and bringing him back to face the music.

I will never forget when Attorney General Janet Reno and Asst. Attorney General Eric Holder ordered Elian to be swooped up before day break, and got him back to his father, that was a BFD on that Saturday morning. Florida was on the map and we cheered his return to his dad.

I read there was a shootout at a courthouse in Georgia today – this is what the GOP rhetoric is creating – people with guns and few brains are wanting to “take their country back” and the words of right wing politicians are telling their small brains this is what they should do. It started with the attack on Gabby Giffords – and no-one paid the political price – until the voters call out those who are creating this firestorm it will continue.

British D-Day vet ditches nursing home for secret trip to Normandy

An 89-year old World War II veteran who was reported missing from a nursing home in England has been found in Normandy after traveling to attend D-Day commemorations, police said Friday.

Bernard Jordan was last seen at The Pines home in Hove, southern England, on Thursday morning. Staff called police when he did not return that evening.

Sussex Police said Friday that another veteran later called to say he and Jordan were at a hotel in Ouistreham, France. Officers also spoke to Jordan and determined he was fine.

The force said Jordan left the home wearing his service medals and joined a group of veterans heading to France by bus.
