I’m not sure that what they are saying is that they were not aware of the potential of a swap. They are saying that he still needed to give them that 30 day notice bases on the way the law is written….
I think the better response to all of this could have been that as Commander-In-Chief he has the authority to take immediate action when he deems necessary. Saying that we informed Congress 2 or 3 years ago that there was the possibility of a swap and then ditching the idea and never bringing it up again until it happens seems a little “out there” IMO. The WH has issued an apology to the Intelligence Committee. Sometimes it’s easier to ask forgiveness than to get permission and I think that this is the course of action that the WH took in this instance and based on this foolish Congresses response to his release it was probably justifiable in this case.
Agree——but it always seems that it’s Feinstein who runs to the microphone to make some accusation about this Democratic administration, which then the Repubs use as further ammunition. ‘Even the Dems are saying the admin. broke the law’. Hardly helpful and only happens in the Dem party, seems to me. I think Feinstein may be oversold on her own importance at times and feels shunned when she is not consulted on every action. We have yet to learn the circumstances on the urgency and/or opportunity for that rescue—-why they had to act tout suite.
Lots of conflicting info that still needs to get sorted out. See the Pentagon is denying that 6 soldiers lost their lives searching for Bergdahl. Someone noted they are blaming every soldier death in an active war zone on this, with no evidence or confirmation.
That’s because the Republicans get their talking points and narrative out into the media even before the first investigation is done. Leaving all this speculation and wild innuendo. Our media sucks because they play right along with it because they thrive to sensationalize every story and if it is perceived to be a negative for the President or his administration then they consider it gold.
So why is the WH apologizing to some? Sen Finestein must have been one of those. She is always whining.
I believe the story for just in Feb 2014 McCain was all in support of the exchange.

Ironically, the ballot slipped into the machine ahead of mine was stuck with an error message reading that the ballot had marks that could not be read! I had to wait for them to pull that one out sonI could feed mine in. The poll workers were looking for the voter: I think he or she had left. It was a Republican ballot. In AL, we have to declare and then sign the appropriate list. A little disconcerting.

26-year-old Virginia Thompson was shopping with her newborn son at a Walmart in Columbus, Indiana when she was unintentionally shot when another shopper dropped his gun.
56-year-old Tony Ward told police that his .22-caliber handgun was in a holster when it fell from his waistband.
The gun discharged when it hit the ground. The bullet ricocheted off a bottle and hit Virginia in the upper arm. She was treated at the scene by medics and declined to go to the hospital.
Police said that Ward has a concealed weapons permit and he will not be charged in the incident.

This is just a taste of what is inevitable. I just pray that innocent lives are not lost from this craziness.
It’s crazy alright! It’s also a pity that law enforcement is choosing not to lay charges for these ‘accidents’. Personally I think he should be charged for assault, endangering the public, disturbing the peace, or something. If I were her I’d press charges; then again, given the mind set that allows this to happen the case probable wouldn’t go far.
I would make enough NOISE to carry it from there to Timbuktu, even if it didn’t go far in terms of the suit.
I would raise the consciousness of ordinary folks to let them know; if it happened to me, with my baby in my arms, it could happen to you, your child or family member, and maybe they will not be with us to tell their story as I am.
This story needs to be told because the inevitable is closer than we know.
Not sure I’d make noise as I like to be in the background, but something needs to be done about this. There seems to be no place at all ‘sacred’ from guns in the American society.

Yes dotster the hypocrisy is off the charts here. Even in this video back in February Anderson speaks to the deteriorating health of Bergdahl at that time. I believe that once all the evaluations and investigations take place that this is going to be why PBO took decisive action in his rescue even if it meant stiffing Congress to do so.

The Army has no immediate plans to punish Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for leaving his post in Afghanistan, Secretary of the Army John McHugh said in a statement on Tuesday, putting Bergdahl’s medical and psychological needs first. Bergdahl, a Taliban prisoner for the past five years, was swapped over the weekend for five Talban heavyweights imprisoned at the Guantánamo Bay detention camp.
That doesn’t mean Bergdahl is off the hook. Already, the 28-year-old soldier has been called a traitor by members of his platoon in the pages of the New York Daily News and on CNN. Members of his unit have blamed him in the New York Times for the deaths of other troopers sent out to rescue him, although the newspaper heavily discounts those claims. James Rosen has even published on FoxNews.com a piece sourced anonymously to the Defense Department speculating that Bergdahl was an “active collaborator with the enemy.”

I am one of those “CA TOD’ers,” but sadly I can’t explain why Dianne Feinstein, who behaves like a blue dog or DLC Democrat has not drawn a serious challenger. Unlike Barbara Boxer, Feinstein, a Hillary Clinton loyalist, has never been a strong supporter of President Obama.
I have absolutely no sympathy with Congress when they whine about “not being notified” which, of course they were. One experience illustrates why.
I worked for the Navy Dep’t four summers while in college. The last summer I worked there was ’61. I didn’t know it, but the Navy was making prep for Viet Nam. Our officers sometimes had to go to Capitol Hill to testify before various committees. When a hearing was approaching we worked very hard collecting and typing up the info, which was always classified. My clearance was Confidential, the lowest, so I could type some things, but not all Others had Secret, and of course on up.
Well, we prepared long and hard for a particular hearing. It was all Confidential or higher. One particular commander was not looking forward to it, because of “loose lips sink ships” He and others spent a grueling day before the committee. The day after they came to work steaming mad after they read the paper. There on the first page was this Classified information splashed across it…….I don’t know if one commander ever cooled down. I knew this was wrong…….it still is. This illustrates why the administration has to be so careful. Congress critters TALK! They all want to be the first with new info.
THIS is what I stated up top, PBO did not trust them not to leak and endanger the POW’s life. This is all this is and they know it!
They go straight to the media; not caring who will be hurt in the process, and could care less about the truth. The fake journalist run with the lies without trying to know the truth just to be 1st and increase ratings.
