[Lovely photos! Hope PBO get plenty of sleep tonight! On another note …]:

Mo Asumang is the daughter of a black Ghanaian father and a white German mother.

As a well-known TV presenter in Germany she became the target of racist extreme right-wingers and neo-Nazis, who based their attacks on Asumang’s “non-Aryan” background.

So she decided to look into the racist ideology and to find out more about those who consider themselves “Aryan”.

In her new documentary, The Aryans, she confronts racists, both in Germany and among the Ku Klux Klan in America.

I do not think this is about the 30 day notice requirement but rather the lack of trust that leaks would occur in what had become an emergency situation to save the POW. So they were not told and I do not blame PBO. Chambliss and Feinstein are microphone hogs!

It must drive the right wingers nuts seeing the President so obviously admired by these leaders, and obviously enjoying himself. They also have to notice how every other leader at the meeting….this and others…..just wants his moment on camera with PBO. When GWB was president and traveled, other leaders kept their distance from him…..except, of course, Angela Merkel who was accosted by him…….
This drives the right wing out of their minds. I LOVE it.

I’m not sure that what they are saying is that they were not aware of the potential of a swap. They are saying that he still needed to give them that 30 day notice bases on the way the law is written….

I think the better response to all of this could have been that as Commander-In-Chief he has the authority to take immediate action when he deems necessary. Saying that we informed Congress 2 or 3 years ago that there was the possibility of a swap and then ditching the idea and never bringing it up again until it happens seems a little “out there” IMO. The WH has issued an apology to the Intelligence Committee. Sometimes it’s easier to ask forgiveness than to get permission and I think that this is the course of action that the WH took in this instance and based on this foolish Congresses response to his release it was probably justifiable in this case.

Agree——but it always seems that it’s Feinstein who runs to the microphone to make some accusation about this Democratic administration, which then the Repubs use as further ammunition. ‘Even the Dems are saying the admin. broke the law’. Hardly helpful and only happens in the Dem party, seems to me. I think Feinstein may be oversold on her own importance at times and feels shunned when she is not consulted on every action. We have yet to learn the circumstances on the urgency and/or opportunity for that rescue—-why they had to act tout suite.
Lots of conflicting info that still needs to get sorted out. See the Pentagon is denying that 6 soldiers lost their lives searching for Bergdahl. Someone noted they are blaming every soldier death in an active war zone on this, with no evidence or confirmation.

That’s because the Republicans get their talking points and narrative out into the media even before the first investigation is done. Leaving all this speculation and wild innuendo. Our media sucks because they play right along with it because they thrive to sensationalize every story and if it is perceived to be a negative for the President or his administration then they consider it gold.

Ironically, the ballot slipped into the machine ahead of mine was stuck with an error message reading that the ballot had marks that could not be read! I had to wait for them to pull that one out sonI could feed mine in. The poll workers were looking for the voter: I think he or she had left. It was a Republican ballot. In AL, we have to declare and then sign the appropriate list. A little disconcerting.

I do not believe this – ‘Police said that Ward has a concealed weapons permit and he will not be charged in the incident.’
If he had ‘accidentally hit her with his car, wouldn’t there have been charges? The police response to these incidents is really bizarre, IMO.

Woman shopping in Walmart shot when man’s pistol falls
26-year-old Virginia Thompson was shopping with her newborn son at a Walmart in Columbus, Indiana when she was unintentionally shot when another shopper dropped his gun.

56-year-old Tony Ward told police that his .22-caliber handgun was in a holster when it fell from his waistband.

The gun discharged when it hit the ground. The bullet ricocheted off a bottle and hit Virginia in the upper arm. She was treated at the scene by medics and declined to go to the hospital.

Police said that Ward has a concealed weapons permit and he will not be charged in the incident.

It’s crazy alright! It’s also a pity that law enforcement is choosing not to lay charges for these ‘accidents’. Personally I think he should be charged for assault, endangering the public, disturbing the peace, or something. If I were her I’d press charges; then again, given the mind set that allows this to happen the case probable wouldn’t go far.

          June 3, 2014 at 6:39 pm

I would make enough NOISE to carry it from there to Timbuktu, even if it didn’t go far in terms of the suit.

I would raise the consciousness of ordinary folks to let them know; if it happened to me, with my baby in my arms, it could happen to you, your child or family member, and maybe they will not be with us to tell their story as I am.

This story needs to be told because the inevitable is closer than we know.

Here’s the press release and statement archived on the website Project Vote Smart:

U.S. Representative Lee Terry (R-NE), today made the following statement on the release of Bowe Bergdahl, the only American Prisoner of War in Afghanistan:
“A grateful nation welcomes the news of the return of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. I have the pleasure of regularly speaking with our nation’s active duty military and veterans and I know that there is nothing more solemn than the pledge to never leave one of their own behind on the field of battle.
“Sgt. Bergdahl is a national hero. It’s my hope that once he ultimately retires from active duty service, implementation of reforms to our nation’s VA hospitals are made so that he will have access to the long-term care he has rightfully earned from the horrors he endured.
“Furthermore, I call upon President Obama to reach out to the Mexican government to secure the release of Sgt. Tahmooressi who himself has been held captive and abused in a Mexican prison for inadvertently crossing the Mexican border with firearms that he legally owned in the United States. If the President can negotiate with a group who has harbored terrorists and declared war on the United States for the last twelve years, I would expect he can work with our neighbor and trading partner to secure the immediate release and safe return of Sgt. Tahmooressi.”

Yes dotster the hypocrisy is off the charts here. Even in this video back in February Anderson speaks to the deteriorating health of Bergdahl at that time. I believe that once all the evaluations and investigations take place that this is going to be why PBO took decisive action in his rescue even if it meant stiffing Congress to do so.

Meet the “Mega Earth.” Described today by astronomers from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, this ancient rocky world weighs 17 times as much as Earth — which is a big surprise considering that rocky, solid planets aren’t supposed to get that huge.

Above: Artistic impression of the newly classified “mega-Earth” Kepler-10c (foreground). Its sibling, the lava-world Kepler-10b, is in the background. Kepler-10c is comprised of solids, although it may possess a thin atmosphere shown here as wispy clouds. Credit: David A. Aguilar (CfA)

    It’s called Kepler-10c and it’s located about 560 light-years from Earth. It circles a sun-like star, Kepler-10, once every 45 days, so it’s in a fairly tight orbit. The system also hosts a 3-Earth-mass “lava world,” Kepler-10b, in a crazy-fast 20-hour orbit.

The Army has no immediate plans to punish Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for leaving his post in Afghanistan, Secretary of the Army John McHugh said in a statement on Tuesday, putting Bergdahl’s medical and psychological needs first. Bergdahl, a Taliban prisoner for the past five years, was swapped over the weekend for five Talban heavyweights imprisoned at the Guantánamo Bay detention camp.

That doesn’t mean Bergdahl is off the hook. Already, the 28-year-old soldier has been called a traitor by members of his platoon in the pages of the New York Daily News and on CNN. Members of his unit have blamed him in the New York Times for the deaths of other troopers sent out to rescue him, although the newspaper heavily discounts those claims. James Rosen has even published on FoxNews.com a piece sourced anonymously to the Defense Department speculating that Bergdahl was an “active collaborator with the enemy.”

    Shame on the MSM.

I have absolutely no sympathy with Congress when they whine about “not being notified” which, of course they were. One experience illustrates why.
I worked for the Navy Dep’t four summers while in college. The last summer I worked there was ’61. I didn’t know it, but the Navy was making prep for Viet Nam. Our officers sometimes had to go to Capitol Hill to testify before various committees. When a hearing was approaching we worked very hard collecting and typing up the info, which was always classified. My clearance was Confidential, the lowest, so I could type some things, but not all Others had Secret, and of course on up.
Well, we prepared long and hard for a particular hearing. It was all Confidential or higher. One particular commander was not looking forward to it, because of “loose lips sink ships” He and others spent a grueling day before the committee. The day after they came to work steaming mad after they read the paper. There on the first page was this Classified information splashed across it…….I don’t know if one commander ever cooled down. I knew this was wrong…….it still is. This illustrates why the administration has to be so careful. Congress critters TALK! They all want to be the first with new info.
