        There I was thinking you had posted and run – I just finished the evening chores & popped in to see the news – and a new thread appeared – the small pleasures of life 🙂

        Have a great Sunday. Celebrate PBO – again.

        • June 1, 2014 at 7:55 am

          I have an either or choice this morning 99ts – (1) Sort out the mountain of washing I did the last couple of days, or (2) sit here and chat idly.

          (2) it is then 🙂

            Chatting is good – DON’T watch the Sunday hate shows. I’ll see if I can find the good news
            1. Andrea Mitchell is still being hammered – not a murmur since that tweet
            2. Everything the GOP says against Sgt Bergdahl will lose them votes in November – I’m now wondering how Idaho may vote

              My daughter reports that my (fairly) new grandbabe LOVES “laundry time”. As she takes each item out of the dryer, she announces it—-“mommy’s tshirt”—–“daddy’s underwear” etc. and waves it over her like a fresh laundry fan and tickles her face and hands. Baby thinks this is the most hilarious thing of all time. So multi-tasking complete—–laundry done, baby joyfully entertained.

    I am pretty sure those spec forces Were Green Berets with support from Rangers. 18 Soldiers were involved and Knoller got terminology wrong. It’s not SF for Army spec forces, it’s FF!

            I was up early and considered turning on Steve Kornacki. Seems like I made the right choice.

            Instead I got my early morning aggravation by reading the pile of poop that is delivered to my doorstep each day. To no ones surprise the NY Times is not all that happy about the Obama Doctrine speech in West Point. The prisoner swap is of special concern to Mike Rodgers, the outgoing Repub head of some committee, outgoing—let me emphasize to the bright lights and big bucks of broadcast TV propaganda.

    Also, the Taliban are not terrorist, Al Qaeda are the terrorist.
    In the 1980s, we were working with the now Taliban, then it was Mujahadeen. So we know some of the leaders.

    Morning all. Republicans are revealing themselves at every turn as bitter, mean-spirited, anti-veteran, anti-child, anti-humanity, narrow-minded little weasels (no offense to weasels). There will always be the malcontents and paranoid of the world who will cheer them on, but decent people who love their children, care about the feelings of others, have sympathy for those who struggle and were born will a heart and a conscience are repelled by them. I hope they keep talking, escalating their hatred and their venom until everyone sees what they are and shuns them–especially in November.

      A lot of it is countering what the President is trying to accomplish.
      They try to never let him win a news cycle, always a lot of noise out there to drown out the good news and accomplishments.

      • 50 dotster3
        June 1, 2014 at 8:56 am

        Yes—-every time there is seemingly good news, within minutes the GOP pop out from behind the bushes to blast out some controversy or negativity in an attempt to destroy the moment/glad tidings. And the media obliges by spreading that theme.

    I was out of pocket yesterday. I come back to TOD last night to find that the snarling and haughty Grand Dame of MSNBC (aka Mrs. Greenspan) just could not hide her contempt for President Obama. Her snarky and sarcastic tweet about the release of Bowe Bergdahl, was textbook. With President Obama, no matter what happens, no matter how positive, no matter how groundbreaking, rule number one is find a way to diminish any positive reporting. At all costs, focus on some negative angle to the story. It was so gratifying to see that Mrs. Greenspan got hammered. I have never understood the gushing over her reporting at MSNBC.

    right-wingers never surprise in their hateful reactions to everything PBO does – even in the case of life and death situations;

    we knew right-wingers will attack PBO about this issue of releasing Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl ;

    but one would have hoped that they (at the very least) wait to hear the Sgt Bowe Bergdahl (former POW’s) story before they attach him and his parents;

    now it seems we are going to spend time fighting back against republican vitriol on this matter – disgusting;

    and to think that that they are angry about PBO doing ALL he can to save the life of an American soldier (especially one who may have been in the location as a direct result of PBO’s decision as CIC) is really disgusting!

    ps: I don’t know which POTUS gave orders for his deployment but in the end it doesn’t matter – all must be done to save the life of people in captivity (especially those who are ordered to do the nation’s hardest and most dangerous work);

    it is a pity that we have to remind “the patriots” (aka, GOP hatemongers) that :

    (i) the life of the POW matters;

    (ii) there are facts yet to be known and we should not always believe the Taliban’s side of the story outright;

    (iii) the reaction of parents and the people in the POW’s community says it all about what is the most important outcome to pursue;

    (iv) there are times when negotiations are the best solution to a complex challenge even among geo-political enemies and adversaries on the battle field;

    ya think washed up golfer bob estes has ever seen the video of the muhajideed hanging out with saint ronnie reagan in the freakin white house?!?

    raygun invited them there and even dedicated a space shuttle launch to the “freedom fighters.” this is the time when osama bin laden was part of that group, and it’s thought that mullah omar was one of the people at the white house. this was far beyond simply negotiating with terrorists! and of course there were so many other activities such as this that reagan and the bush kings did. wonder if that little iran-contra dealio ever pops into the republican mind? idjits.

      And I will add that among those who claim to support his actions, I would wager that at least 50% of them have the same racist/anti-Obama motives as Snowden and his sidekick Greenwald. Nothing to do with their “principles.”

      The sad truth is that Reagan was not a very smart man. He was a mediocre actor and a has been when GE plucked him our of Hollywood, gave him a tv show and groomed him for politics. I never believed that he had a firm grasp of what was happening the world and was easily manipulated by those around him. President Barack Obama is the most intelligent, insightful and thoughtful man to enter the White House in the last hundred years. He knows exactly who he’s dealing with in every corner of the world and NOTHING he does is thoughtless. Because he is head and shoulders above everyone around him. he is not EVER manipulated. By the way, that rug sucks.

      Good morning Chips, Meta and TOD. I just turned on the tv and the first thing I saw was old man Scheffer talking about John McCain being on his show to discuss whether PBO broke the law because he did not notify congress. This seem to be the new meme. One would think that McShame would be positive on this matter but he is a bitter Old man McShame will go to his grave hating himself and PBO for beating his old a@@ in 2008.

      • June 1, 2014 at 9:35 am

        GAH. As if POTUS is sloppy in anything he does. Apparently Susan Rice said Congressional Leaders knew about the prisoner swap for weeks. So whatever. They will spend every ounce of energy sewing seeds of doubt. Truth doesn’t matter.

      Dudette, they only love troops that are in a war zone and in danger of death and injury. That triggers their machismo fantasies of and makes them feel more manly. If they do die, the GOP doesn’t want to talk about it. If they get injured, they’re on their own. Truly hateful, hateful people.

    Interested in this new biography of Michael Jordan—–to relive those unbelievably joyful fun times of Jordan’s Wonder Years with the Bulls. We had the Best Time watching those games, all of us, family and friends, all of Chicagoland, Illinois, much of the country and around the world. We would laugh at the awesome awesomeness of it all. It was Must See TV—–every game. And whatever shortcomings Jordan may have had, I am forever grateful for just the pure escape and elation and satisfaction he brought to so many lives during that time.

    And see that there was another “shooting spree” last night in Va.——-some goof with a gun was driving around Norfolk randomly shooting at people—-police officer and a kid coming home from his h.s. graduation among at least 3 dead. How many more?
