          My wonderful, couldn’t live without, cleaning lady comes today – but she is an early bird – and I have to “clean up” before she can clean. 🙂

            Teeheehee! I see that women behave the same the world over – the ‘I have to “clean up” before my cleaning lady can clean’ viewpoint always used to make me laugh during staffroom conversation. 😀 😀

          • June 1, 2014 at 6:20 pm

            That’s hilarious 99ts, my sister had a cleaning lady for a while and she was the same, spent hours cleaning before she arrived, to which I always asked: “Huh?”

              As I explained to vc – cleaning ladies are wonderful – but they don’t do “clean up your mess” 🙂 – and do they gossip about their clients that think that is what they do!

              2nd to TOD, my news service is the cleaning lady.

    Love the Honoring of Dr. Maya Angelou with Oprah. What a beautiful feeling I get when she speaks about what it meant to her knowing that President Barack Obama spoke of how his beautiful mother admired Dr. Angelou so that she named his sister, Maya. Also knowing that our Attorney General and Dr. Sharon Malone Holder named their daughter Maya as well because of Dr. Angelou.

    These are the things I will enjoy today knowing that Dr. Angelou touched my great niece’s life during his life. This is sweet to have those gems in my space. We honor, Dr. Maya Angelou.HZ

    Good morning TOD family. It is a beautiful morning in MT. We are having some rain everyday so everything is so beautiful and green, the flowers are blooming and President Obama is our President. It is a great day to be alive in America. I should also add it is a great day to be a member of the TOD family.

    PARIS — Playing the bold brand of tennis that has propelled his resurgence the last 20 months, No. 18 seed Ernests Gulbis upset fourth-seeded Roger Federer to advance to his second quarterfinal at the French Open on Sunday.

    The Latvian’s 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 fourth-round victory ended 2009 champion Federer’s bid reach the Roland Garros quarterfinals for a 10th consecutive year.

    I ❤ Nadal, but I Like Roger. I was truly upset that Gulbis left for "medical attention" during the fourth set while Federer was up 5-2.

    Was up until 1 AM CT watching HBO’s 2014 Rock inductees. Bruce Springsteen is a Gem. He was by far the best in honoring his Teammates. What a total class.

        I doubt it will shut up the media. They probably expect the parents to apologize for their son and for wanting him home. Not to mention the vultures will expect them to say how horrible the President is for trading the “terrorist” for their son instead of leaving him to rot as a POW. With everything we have dealt with for the past week, this, pisses me off more than anything. That they can smear this soldier just to attack the President is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard. Where are all the dems pushing back?

    The Bottom Line is that MSM and the GOP are Sad that a POW is freed.

    Why do these people hate America? Why are they so Fixated on the process and in term taking away the Focus of this Brave Sgt who has spend almost 5 yrs in captivity?

    Is the life of this Sgt Bergdahl not worth 5 GITMO prisoners release?

    In 2010 GOP stopped the release why is the Media NOT asking these Sunday propaganda idiots why they delayed and denied his release in 2010? Why did this soldier had to spend 4 more yrs in captivity.

    Of course, these folks who are bashing the administration are also staunch supporters of Israel and feel Israel can do nothing wrong, yet Israel has participated in many prisoner swaps with the Palestinians.

        Good BEAUTIFUL Sunday afternoon to you Layla,

        I am so, so sad to hear you say that your health is deteriorating (Rise and Shine). I will lift you up in prayers, and include you, as an intercessor, in my spiritual fasting this week. Please know that God is able to do all things, and that includes healing.

        Please God, please watch over Layla, send a “special angel” to her side to pray over her each and every day.
        I know that you are powerful, as you have always been there for me, and I’m asking you to please do for Layla what you have done for me because I believe in you, and know that you are a healer.

        Warmest blessings and healing prayers for your recovery, don’t give up and don’t give in.

        June 1, 2014 at 2:40 pm

        Thanks all of you:) Anyone with animals that share their place in a family, sooner or later knows this place. Crap….I rescued her from the Humane Society when she was 7. She was so sick and skinny..she was just a bag of bones. Literally. She was laying on the concrete floor of a cage and there were flies and barking dogs….she looked at me and I at her, and that was all she wrote. I told the woman to take her out of there and asked if there was someplace quiet we could go. She took this emaciated dog from the cage and she immediately came to my side…and has never left. They were going to euthanize her that night and I lied through my teeth to get her out of there and take her home with me. The moment I got her in the car, I swear I could see her smile and thank me with her eyes. I promised myself that no matter how long she had on this earth, it would be a great life that I gave her.I nursed her back to health and happiness and at her peak, she weighed 140 lbs…up from the 85 lbs that I got her. She’s about 13 years old now…for a Great Dane, that’s more than a little wonderful..these giants don’t usually live this long….she eats, she drinks, but she needs help getting herself up, and she forgets sometimes that she’s not outside…I just want her to have some dignity, you know? Would be nice if, as humans, we could have that some option afforded us when our quality of life deteriorated….to retain a little of our own dignity toward the end of our own lives…. I wonder if I see the writing on the wall, but make my own selfish excuses for keeping her with me just a little while more…putting off the inevitable. Because I love her, I have to be the strong one and do the right thing for her…that’s where I am now.

        I appreciate all the good thoughts. That’s part of what makes this place so special to all of us. People really DO care and I can’t tell you all enough how much that means. I’ll get through this…and I’ll be ok, I just have to get my head and my heart in sync….it’s a process. xoxoxo

          there is no love like the love we share with a rescued dog. Miracles before our eyes. And that we are a small part of that miracle is an overwhelming blessing. A 13 year old great dane is amazing under the best of conditions. What you have donefor this beautiful soul is a true gift.

          The poignant truth of rescuing an older dog is that we treasure each moment.

          She is privileged to have you as a partner, a parent. She knows thatshe is in the best of hands.

          Know that you are treasured.

      Good afternoon desertflower,

      I am sorry to hear the news about your precious love. I know that feeling you are experiencing; had to go through it with each of my 3 beautiful and handsome boys (cats). Loved them soooooo much so I do understand. I searched for a poem to comfort you on this day. I altered it some to make it personal for you : )

      I send you {{{{{{{{{{desertflower and her love}}}}}}}}}}} hugs for comfort.

      You have a special place Dear Lord
      that I know you’ll always keep
      A special place reserved for dogs
      when they quietly fall asleep
      With large and airy kennels
      and a yard for hiding bones
      With maybe a little babbling creek
      that chatters over stones.
      With wide green fields and flowers
      for those who never knew
      about running freely under
      Your sky of perfect blue.
      Lord, I know You keep this Special Place
      And so to you I Pray,
      For my special and sweet dear friend
      Who is quietly passing away.

      She was full of strength & love
      and so very, very wise.
      The puppy look she once had
      Has long since left her eyes.
      She will be dearly missed my Lord
      By me, desertflower, she is my love and a very good friend.

      I know she will join her ancestors
      To Your land that is Devine
      So, speak to my precious baby when she arrives, softly please
      And give her a warm hello from me.
      She’s a Special gift to you Dear Lord
      From desertflower, who loves her so.

          df……we’ve been through this six times, and it always hard. Our vet is wonderful and guides us. He calls this the “compassionate decision.” You will know in your heart when it is time, and you will cry and suffer, but you will also know you have done what is right for her. Oh my, now I’m crying too. I know you will do what I always do. I stay with each one, patting her and talking to her…..I want my voice to be the last sound she hears, and my loving hands to be the last touch she feels. (Each one has been a female.)

          I have a shelf on which I keep all our little girls’ ashes and collars. Also, we have pictures of our precious ones around the house. Each one brings a smile to my heart…….our lives have been so enriched by them.

    High folks !

    Can someone be kind enough to tell a computer illiterate like me what’s the procedure for copying a tweet and posting it here ? Not a tweet of mine, but a tweet of someone else. Some of you guys do it regularly. I wonder how you do it…

    Thanks !

      in Twitter, look at the tweet you want;

      see where the time that has elapsed since the tweet was sent is (e.g. 3 min, or 5 hrs) – located at top of tweet after the tweet’s “name”;

      place the cursor on this time & “right-click” once;

      select “copy shortcut”;

      place cursor in the space to “leave a reply” – on this blog, in this box;

      right-click and select “paste”

    First, let’s address the “law-breaking Obama” theme which will be bandied about on Fox and on Sarah Palin’s Facebook page for weeks to come. Let’s put that to bed. As reported by the Daily Beast, “Many in Congress will still be opposed to the swap, but lawmakers gave up their right to stop it. A small change in the Fiscal Year 2014 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which passed last December, now makes it only a requirement that the Defense Secretary notify Congress when releasing Guantanamo prisoners. Before the change, Congressional sign off on any Guantanamo releases would have been needed.” Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel did, in fact, notify Congress of the U.S.’s intention to transfer five prisoners held at Gitmo to Qatar in exchange for Sgt. Bergdahl.

    It also seems like a prime time to address the notion that the U.S. doesn’t negotiate with terrorists. Of course we do; we do it all the time. As Tod Robberson of DallasNews.com noted, “How about in 2007, when the U.S. negotiated with Sunni insurgent leaders in Iraq to get them to stop bombing U.S. troops and join the fight against al-Qaeda in Iraq? We bribed them. We paid them off. And if you Google the statements of various U.S. officials back in 2005-2006, they were insulted when the U.S. media referred to the Sunnis as insurgents. No, those officials insisted, they’re terrorists!” That, if memory serves, was under George W. Bush.
