I’m happy to see Ms. Greenspan getting her ass handed to her from all corners on Twitter.

While America rejoices that an American soldier and son is returned to his parents, @MitchellReports aligns her mean self with the @GOP jackals who can’t stand it that our President @BarackObama helped this to happen. What a disgrace! @MSNBC

These photos really warm my heart. This is such a wonderful moment of relief and healing for these parents. I hope they can breathe easier now, knowing how much our POTUS and all those involved put into their son’s safe return and the care and treatment he will receive from this point forward. POTUS is nothing if not determined to do the right thing. Really, really heroic moment for all.

President Obama always has a special place in his heart for mothers.

  6. May 31, 2014 at 8:19 pm

Another wonderful surprise from Obama. That’s what gets them seething. DOMA repeal, Osama, and now this. It’s too much for the haters.

Frankly, I don’t care if he’s a deserter/just walked off the base/whatever. He’s paid the price in 5 terrible years of his life and probably more as he recovers from his ordeal.

Another thing: the released prisoners are going to be in Qatar for at least a year. Enough time for the troop withdrawals to be completed-and the remaining residual force will be training and managing and guarding the embassy. They won’t be out and about, so no prisoners to be had.
And anyway, were we really going to keep those folks forever and a day? Sooner or later these Taliban officers were going to be released, and at leas we will get something good in exchange.

They only know hate, revenge, must drive them crazy they can’t figure out what he is going to do next, doesn’t even consult with him, the nerve. I think these evil people are close to completely losing it, at least I hope so.

There was a post on Pierce’s blog – not by Pierce – that said the following

“The breakthrough gave Obama an opportunity to remind America about one thing that unites us, Democrat or Republican, supporter of the post-9/11 wars or not: “Sergeant Bergdahl’s recovery is a reminder of America’s unwavering commitment to leave no man or woman in uniform behind on the battlefield.””

Seems this guy doesn’t know the GOP rules – if PBO does it – it is WRONG. The reaction of people like Mitchell have cast in stone that the only thing to save the US is a democratic congress.

99ts, it’s really incredibly astonishing that this is now the norm for our media. Having grown up with excellent news sources, it feels like a real grieving process for our country. I really fear a free press not beholden to corporate bylines and excessive influence of RWNJ toxic money is no longer possible.

I used to watch the PBS news hour which is shown in my world but since the 2008 election it has disintegrated with the rest of the media – their online headline today – David Brooks!!! on the VA. They have no shame.

        • May 31, 2014 at 8:44 pm

Oh, yes. I stopped watching PBS News Hour a few years ago when Judy Woodruff interviewed Dick Cheney like he was president of the local Boy Scouts Chapter.

The US Media is Now a Joke. They have abdicated their duty and mission. The American public do not trust them. The US Media is an empty vessel full of sound and fury, signifying Nothing.

Many Americans will be please and are pleased that a soldier missing for 5 yrs has been returned. That would be their reaction. Just like many are pleased with POTUS’ Wed speech at the West Point.

So nasty-ass Repubs threaten a “Willie Horton” style campaign against President Obama in 2012 if he pursued the release of Bowe – according to this article linked to by 3ChicsPolitico:

End of day, the wifi signal I use at home has been disappeared .. Not quite sure why, but last night the signal just faded out. Anyway, looking into having it restored, but it may take a day or two (or three) :(. Meanwhile, tho I can come down to the common areas and use the building wifi, it lacks the comforts of a kitty in the lap and a cup of hot tea at hand. So, I will be on and off, as best I can. Hope to up by my birthday (December)! 🙂 God blesses our President each day, every moment. I believe for the most part, the higher percentage of Americans are kind, caring and empathetic people. If they haven’t begun to recognize the hate by now, this kind of joy is something all humans can relate to, and to hear it maligned or misconfigured, I think people will start to see through the nastiness and bile. Keep the candles alight, keep POTUS and FLOTUS in our prayers. Big hugs all around. Hope to see you soon! http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=PBO

So I have been been out of the news loop today (Big recruiting weekend in Auburn) but I’m so heartened to hear this wonderful news. I can’t get twitter to work on the device I’m currently borrowing…….so will somebody please tweet this out for all the soulless assholes who are complaining about releasing GITMO detainees…

More than 500 Guantanamo detainees were released or transferred under Bush

    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/jun/18/steny-hoyer/hoyer-correct-500-guantanamo-detainees-were-releas/

For weeks, Republicans have questioned the wisdom of closing the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. President Barack Obama plans to transfer the approximately 230 remaining detainees to other countries or to prisons in the United States. Responding to the Republicans, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told reporters on June 16, 2009, that it’s important to consider Obama’s plans in context with the overall number of releases in the past seven years.

“Some 500 detainees were released from Guantanamo during the Bush administration,” Hoyer said. We wondered if he was correct.

Indeed, government documents indicate more than 500 detainees were released or transferred from Guantanamo while George W. Bush was president. A White House executive order issued on the second day of Obama’s presidency said, ” The federal government has moved more than 500 such detainees from Guantánamo, either by returning them to their home country or by releasing or transferring them to a third country. “That’s backed up by a fact sheet from the military task force that runs the detention camp, which says 520 detainees had been released or transferred by March 2009……

Also Andrea Mitchell……where were you on this? 1,000 prisoners to Hamas for 1 Israeli solider:

Israel and Hamas Agree to Swap Prisoners for Soldier: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/12/world/middleeast/possible-deal-near-to-free-captive-israeli-soldier.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

JERUSALEM — Israel and Hamas announced an agreement on Tuesday to exchange more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners for an Israeli soldier held captive in Gaza for five years, a deal brokered by Egypt that seemed likely to shake up Middle East politics at a time when the region is immersed in turmoil. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel told his nation in a live address on television that the soldier, Staff Sgt. Gilad Shalit, who was captured in June 2006 at the age of 19, could be home “within days,” ending what has been widely seen in Israel as a national trauma.

But that was before the election of the black guy LP – the truth was the big loser on that day. Everyone wanted Guantanamo closed until PBO said he was going to do just that.

  25. May 31, 2014 at 9:05 pm

This needs to be sent to every news organization in America. Republicans blocked this soldiers release. The deal was made in 2010. Republicans really are the enemy.

Republican opposition to diplomatic compromise with the Taliban is blocking the release of a captured U.S soldier held since 2009 and broader negotiations aimed at a resolution of the decade-long war.

A recent German interview with a leading Afghan diplomatic mediator, Naquibullah Shorish, describes the stalled scenario for peace in some detail. The process, launched with Obama administration support in Qatar in 2010 under German mediation, was to begin with a prisoner exchange as a trial test for further talks. The American soldier, Sgt. Bowe Bigdahl, who was captured on June 30, 2009, was to be released in a swap for five Taliban detainees held in Guantanamo

I am grateful for good and decent people who told Andrea Mitchell what she really is made of: hate, evilness, bitterness, envy, vileness, lack of respect, and a void of compassionate.

I was composing a tweet for her when right after her tweet came up, and I could not get it to move on. I realized that the universe goodness did not want me to tear her ass up because others were so elegantly better doing it than I was trying to do. However, I pray to God that the parents will not see that tweet of the ugly vile soul of Ms. Greenspan. I want Mr. and Mrs. Bergdahls to remember the words of President Barack Obama. “It’s a great day.” And it is a great day.

PBO moves to his own drumbeats and Almighty God please keep your great supply of the finest drums ever made for a soul as sweet, loving, compassionate, gentle, and respectful as this precious soul, our President, Barack Obama. May PBO keep making his beats on the finest of drums beating to what is best in all of us, and what is right in all of us. We give thanksgiving for our beautiful and brilliant POTUS.

MightyPamela, my candles are lit for our president and for the Bergdahls tonight. ()HZ
