      My sister and I were talking about something like this. She had student loans, way back when, after college if she taught at schools in low income areas, a portion of her loan was forgiven. All through her career she chose to stay with schools that had less and not pursue big bucks, long after the loans were paid off. I love and respect my ‘big’ sis.

        My son has signed a contract saying that he will teach in an underserved school district for 2 or 3 years (I can’t remember which it is) in exchange for loan forgiveness of a percentage of his loans. He is really looking forward to it.

      Stupendous news.

      Thanks, HF2, for posting it.

      I’ve been worried sick about Bowe Bergdahl since his capture, because I tend to view life from a Mountain West perspective. Though I’ve never lived there, I love the territory and grew up when Westerns were standard fare on TV — I think before The Simpsons came along, the longest running TV series (not game show) was either Bonanza or Gunsmoke.

      What a great weight off of President Obama’s shoulders.

      Outside of Sergeant Bergdahl’s immediate family/significant other, no American cares more deeply about getting American’s out of harms way, both domestically and in other countries.

      Secretaries Hagel and Kerry are to be commended as well (SecDef Hagel especially, since he knows first hand what it’s like to be a young enlisted combatant in a foreign land).

      I heard on the radio that this is Secretary Hagel’s fifth trip to Asia this year.

      The DC MSM echo-chamber is either too lazy or treasonous to report on this, even as they ridicule this Administration’s “Asia Pivot” while also contending that it is not doing enough in Europe and the Middle East.

      The pivot is underway, the MSM is just not paying attention.

    Sudanese authorities are to free a woman who was sentenced to death for having abandoned the Islamic faith, a foreign ministry official says.

    Meriam Ibrahim, who gave birth to a daughter in custody, will be freed in a few days’ time, the official said.

    Abdullahi Alzareg, an under-secretary at the foreign ministry, said Sudan guaranteed religious freedom and was committed to protecting the woman.

    Khartoum has been facing international condemnation over the death sentence.

    Our President just keeps working, quietly, behind the clamor to accomplish good for the country. No bombast, no arrogance, no bragging, no landing on aircraft carriers!!! just gets it done.
    With everything else this week, he brings this to fruition, then gives thanks to the Amir of Qatar for his help, and to Afghanistan. This was possible because he and Hillary and John Kerry have worked over the past five years to rebuild relationships around the world. This is 21st century cooperation, not invasion.
    Once again……PBO comes through!
    Is he playing golf today? If so, what else can we expect tomorrow?

      Get her off the air.

      She’s a disservice to actual journalists.

      It’s been 5 f****ng years since Bergdahl’s capture.

      Americans know that “Obama cares” is not hyperbole, and as I said above, outside of Sergeant Bergdahl’s family, no American has been as concerned and empathetic about his well-being than PBO. I would not be surprised if PBO said a prayer daily on his behalf, regardless of where PBO was and how tired he was.

      Karzai is a corrupt a**hole, PBO is hammering simultaneously on so many fronts right now. Front and center for PBO and his administration now:

      . Afghanistan
      . 20th century wars (WWII D-Day 70th anniversary)
      . 21st century crises (e.g., Russian Empire versus eastern Europe)
      . Climate change
      . Asia pivot (see above re: Secretary Hagel)
      . The future (see science fair this week)

      I know I’m missing a lot from what happened this week, but I think journos and GOP are being spun around so quickly that they are becoming incoherent.

      It’s obvious MSM/GOP/Koch cannot walk and chew gum at the same time, LOL.

      Please proceed, GOP… Just wait until after Labor Day, when campaign season actually starts.

    The video for Gangnam Style has become the first YouTube video to be watched more than two billion times.

    The hit by the South Korean rapper Psy from July 2012 sparked a worldwide dance craze.

    Only Justin Bieber’s video for the track Baby, with one billion YouTube hits, comes anywhere near Gangnam Style’s global appeal on the site.

    His follow up song Gentleman also did well on YouTube, so far picking up almost 700 million views.

    Gentlemen also holds the record for the most views in a day with 38 million.

    Did you guys see this ‘follow-up’ article to cousin Henry’s appeal to TOD re the Barack Obama Plaza? (I hadn’t) Is article legit? It mentions Pap John’s pizza and I thought they were pro the other side. Maybe I’m getting my pizza joints mixed up

    The Barack Obama Plaza, which is being developed by Pat and Una McDonagh, owners of the Supermac’s chain of restaurants and Papa John’s pizza outlets, is to create 60 new jobs for Moneygall. 75 new jobs have been created during the current construction phase of the Motorway Service Site. The Plaza represents the single biggest investment on the Offaly/Tipperary Border in decades. Total cost of the development will be in excess of €7 million.

      The plaza is not just featuring PBO – even though it is named after him (and he’s the MAIN attraction).

      According to the article: “We will also highlight the other 21 American Presidents with Irish ancestry and many more famous Irish Americans.”

      So Papa Johns’ investment *might* possibly be because of other famous Irish Americans – some of whom may currently be GOP.

    I guess from your “perch ” (her word ) in Congress does YOU pay close attention.

    The Sunsetting of the AUMF ..FAILED in the House just last week.

    Apparently Peter Bergen was unaware of the vote …AND SO ARE YOU….!!!

    Bergen said that PBO has been calling for the end of the AUMF for over one year. Bergen said he has not seen any action in Congress.

    Ummm…the vote in the house was on May 22nd. Dana was asleep at the wheel ?

    Addendum to my response to Linda re: Dana Bash above.

    Just as #Snowdenwald journo emoprog support now seems to be fading (as the one year anniversary of the loathsome Greenwald’s first PRISM article for the Guardian approaches — just after D-Day IIRC), beltway DC MSM are just now coming to the realization that their “analysis” aka speculation is worthless.

    MSM has always dismissed PBO’s strategic long-term vision, which truly is 3-D chess:
    Level 1 = Europe and Asia
    Level 2 = GOP/MSM treason
    Level 3 = Middle East, Africa and Oceania

    Expect the GOP/MSM to twist themselves into pretzels condemning PBO’s administration for something that will make no sense.

    Gitmo never made any sense to me (and no doubt most Americans), yet did the MSM do its job and question the wisdom of compounding the disaster that was Operation Shock and Awe?

    If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

    If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
    Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son
