Pizza night here too LL, and a glass of Chardonnay (should be a nice Pinot noir or Shiraz, but I wasn’t thinking).

Random encounter with a stranger today, one who obviously loves to talk…

Said he works with a lot of famous people (I’m about 12 miles as the crow flies from Malibu), and that the more famous they are, the nicer they are as people, and cited Johnny Carson and Julie Andrews as the nicest people. However, the biggest jerks are the obnoxious young ones (most of whom I wouldn’t recognize).

I take solace in the fact these obnoxious jerks will find their “fame” fleeting, most of whom we’ll be wondering “where are they now” 10 years hence.

It’s like the VP and Pres don’t realize they’re running the world, and not supposed to be having quite so much fun (acting like normal people)! I love it! 🙂

Sorry to hear about the passing of a truly great, inspirational voice.

Rest in peace, dear force of nature.

“I’ve been blessed to have Maya Angelou as my mentor, mother/sister, and friend since my 20’s. She was there for me always, guiding me through some of the most important years of my life. The world knows her as a poet but at the heart of her, she was a teacher. ‘When you learn, teach. When you get, give’ is one of my best lessons from her.

She won three Grammys, spoke six languages and was the second poet in history to recite a poem at a presidential inauguration. But what stands out to me most about Maya Angelou is not what she has done or written or spoken, it’s how she lived her life. She moved through the world with unshakeable calm, confidence and a fierce grace. I loved her and I know she loved me. I will profoundly miss her. She will always be the rainbow in my clouds.

    Hey Meta, go get yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mysterious millionaire is leaving envelopes filled with cash all over San Francisco
An anonymous millionaire is sharing his wealth with the people of San Francisco.

On Thursday, the mystery donor created a Twitter account, HiddenCash. He tweets out clues on where he has hidden envelopes stuffed with $100, asking only that the lucky people who find the loot tweet a photo showing off their prize. So far, People says, $5,000 has been collected.

I have mixed feelings about this.

A great game for those who can participate (i.e., those who are not in need — see amk’s tweet above), but doesn’t help the truly needy, such as the hungry and shelterless, which are abundant in California because there’s little chance of freezing to death.

      Frame of reference:
The median house price in San Francisco City/County is $922,000. The median house price in the SF Bay area is $622,000.

SF is bursting at the seams with young obnoxious millionaires (no offense, Meta).

I passed a young man today at the entrance/exit of the local enclosed mall (which has a Nordstrom’s store) with a “Homeless, hungry, please help sign.” I asked if he knew about a homeless/needy charity down the street (Lutheran Social Services) and he said they had a long waiting list for even minimal help.

Recall that I live in the town where the Isla Vista killer and one of his victims went to high school. There’s plenty of wealth here; our median house price isn’t in the SF stratosphere, but it’s close to $500K. Our tax base should be able to afford to offer the truly desperate some help, but infuriatingly chooses not to.

“Some days you have to wonder where the Republicans would draw the “if Obama’s for it, we’re against it” line. I can’t think of a single instance these past five years when Barack Obama endorsed something and Republicans said, “Hey, that’s actually a good idea!” The comic nadir, you’ll remember, was when Obama was for lower taxes (of the payroll variety), and they even contrived a way to be against that, at least for a while.”

That is one outstanding op-ed from FLOTUS. So the potato company want women to be able to buy potatoes with WIC. What’s next, buying doughnuts, candy, ice cream, sodas for the kids with WIC.

great snark from The New Yorker:

    MAY 28, 2014

WEST POINT (The Borowitz Report)—President Obama raised eyebrows with his West Point commencement address Wednesday by offering a defense of his controversial foreign-policy doctrine of not invading countries for no reason.

Conservative critics were taken aback by Obama’s speech, which was riddled with incendiary remarks about only using military force for a clearly identified and rational purpose.

Obama did not shy away from employing polarizing rhetoric, often using words such as “responsible” and “sensible” to underscore his message.

Harland Dorrinson, a fellow at the conservative think tank the Center for Global Intervention, said that he was “stunned” to see Obama “defend his failure to engage the United States in impulsive and random military adventures.”

“History tells us that the best way to earn respect around the world is by using your military in a totally unpredictable and reckless manner,” he said. “Today, President Obama showed once again that he doesn’t get it.”

I’ve been hearing helicopters overhead for the last several minutes. Trying to figure out what it might be and then I just remembered that our VP JOE is in SF tonight for two fundraisers, one in a private home and another at the Fairmont Hotel. So I think Joe must be a couple of neighborhoods away!!

Today’s entire UN Security Council session is available at the link in this tweet. Worthwhile listening to all of it, but if you don’t have time, do try to listen to Ukraine’s Ambassador’s full statement and then his exchanges with Churkin.

Shinseki is an honorable man who has served this country in ways they will never fathom. How dare these self-serving politicians scapegoat before the final report is in and before Sec Shinseki has a chance to respond to the investigation. Craven election year peddling.

So I see that the US Media is bending over backwards trying to make that traitor some kind of insta-celebrity for putting the US National security at risk. Oh we must ignore his criminal acts because he claims to watch “The Wire” and thinks that Season 2 is weak…ooooh….well that makes him cool then…

Good evening TOD family…Although I don’t get a chance to read every article nor comment, but I come here everyday. I come here because I know I am going to get the real news and a laugh or two…you all crack me up :-). I am the most informed person among my circle of friends, family and associates, because of TOD family. I have a question (for the smartest people on the planet… a friend sent me an article, “The White House Admits Staging Fake Vaccination Program”…what is this about? Perhaps you all have discussed this already, but I missed it. Please advise. The person who wrote the article is a Ron/Rand Paul devotee!!!!!
