In ten words or less, tell me how much I missed this afternoon?

  4. May 23, 2014 at 10:29 pm

I may or may not make myself scarce this weekend. I plan to wallow in the glory that is LL. Read, watch movies, write. Tomorrow I have friends over for the UCL final. I’m barbecuing carne asada from this awesome Mexican market up the street from my house. I’ve got fixings for margaritas, mai tais, and Manhattans. The bear is loose.

We shan’t see it here in L.A., at least not in my part of town, as we have our May gray low lying clouds.

then you can watch on the link I put up here:) I doubt very highly that I’ll be watching either. Peak time is between 2-4am Eastern…..considering I was in bed at 6:15 last night, this party girl won’t be awake at 11pm my time either:)

  6. May 23, 2014 at 10:38 pm

I think the little girl in the picture is giving PBO the side eye! “You’re not Barack, are you? You can’t be Barack.”

That’s some maneuver that woman has with the phone while the president interacts with her daughter. I wonder if people are losing the ability to live in the moment because they’re so busy preserving images that they look at “later.” Sometimes just having a memory of something is a good thing.

Agree X a million. It’s become ridiculous. No one is enjoying/experiencing the moment—–all too distracted trying to take pics.

I often wonder about this when I’m traveling. Some people never LOOK at anything…..they just aim the camera, so nothing is ever experienced first hand. When they get home, do they even know where they were or what they saw or experienced???

I agree with you. The best images, frankly, are the ones in my mind. The camera’s really don’t compare.

The goto man for all things military – Jim at Stonekettle

The VA Scandal, More Of The Same

“Here’s the thing: speaking from personal experience, the truly ironic part here is that the VA of today, the VA under Eric Shinseki and Barack Obama, is orders of magnitude better than it has ever been.

    Ever. Under any administration.

Over the last five years, things have steadily improved. They’re a long way from perfect but they’re a long long way from what they were when this war began thirteen years ago. Most of the peeling paint and the mildew and the banal uninterested bureaucracy is gone, not all but most of it.”

Read it all – and send it to the twit in congress who was asking for people’s stories about the VA

“Ask yourself something, if Congress really cared about veterans, I mean if they were really as concerned as they purport to be, then why was this brought to the public’s attention via a half-assed tabloid news outfit like CNN instead of the House Armed Services Committee? How come they didn’t know? How come it wasn’t veteran senator John McCain, since this happened in his district? When was the last time Arizona Senator Jeff Flake checked his email? Arizona has nine Representatives in their House delegation, four republicans and five democrats, so where were they? Veterans in Arizona have been complaining to them for years about these problems. I guess they were too busy with Benghazi and birth certificates and the definition of marriage and shutting down the government to notice. “
