OK……..everyone backup!!! I feel the need to defend President Obama while everyone piles on 🙂

“I’ve been unfairly maligned about my jeans”…“The truth is, generally I look very sharp in jeans. There was one episode like four years ago in which I was wearing some loose jeans, mainly because I was out on the pitcher’s mound and I didn’t want to feel confined while I was pitching, and I think I’ve paid my penance for that. I got whacked pretty good. Since that time, my jeans fit very well.”

I always thought everyone was way too critical about the jeans. It’s not like PBO is a 17 yr. old kid trying to pick up hot chicks in his tight jeans—–why can’t a gentleman of his age (who happens to be president) wear more comfy jeans when he is going to do physical activities—–like bike riding and throwing out pitches. I’d like to see a jeans fashion show of some of his critics. So there!

That moron is such a shill….. you notice when any GOP pol wants to do a national interview who is their go to guy? i.e. Marco Rubio last week, and whenever Dick Cheney climbs out of his cave….. only the most recent people that come to mind.

BTW I was interested in you take on Shinseki in a post from yesterday….. I have not really commented on it, but even though your opinion may not the most popular I would follow your lead in these matters. My only qualms is I hate how Rummy fired him for telling the truth about the # of troops needed when he was Army COS, and that is why many give him the benefit of the doubt on the progressive side. My two cents…..

That’s valid lp. My view is purely from a military point of view even though I have my own personal beef with the VA.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk: Ukraine calls on UNO to urgently summon Security Council

““We appeal to our partners from the Security Council of the United Nations Organization with a request to immediately summon a meeting of the UN Security Council,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said to journalists while visiting one of the military units near Kyiv on Thursday, May 22.

“We will provide evidence that just the Russian side makes recurrent attempts to aggravate the conflict, to cause bloodshed, attempts to capture Ukrainian border posts and disrupt the presidential elections,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed.

He reminded that day had occurred the fourth attempt to break through the state border of Ukraine from Russia: “Just from the side of the Russian Federation three KAMAZ cars escorted by the Nyva were making attempts to break through the state border of Ukraine”.

He continued Ukrainian border guards had repulsed the attempt to get through the border and immediately called on representatives of Federal Border Service of Russia with a demand to ensure order from the Russian side.

“As soon as Ukraine launched national unity roundtables, as soon as we have found certain compromise, including the memorandum [of understanding and peace], as soon as everyone realized the situation in East Ukraine has changed – the terrorists, supported by Russia, started attacks, aggravating the situation and provoking bloodshed,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized.”

Jorge Ramos Confronts John Boehner On Immigration (VIDEO)

Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) was confronted about House inaction on immigration reform at his weekly press conference Thursday by the country’s most prominent Hispanic journalist, Jorge Ramos, in what proved to be a tense exchange.

“Mr. Speaker, we came here to ask you, why are you blocking immigration reform?” said Ramos, a TV anchor for the Spanish-language Univision and for Fusion.

Boehner responded, “Me? Blocking?” and laughed.

“Yes, you personally. Yeah, you could bring it to a vote and you haven’t,” Ramos said.

It gets better when Boehner tries to blame it on Obamacare !!!!

I’ve been wondering why this isn’t happening more often. If you don’t publicly call them out like Ramos did today these Repubs will just continue with their pre-planned talking points and do absolutely nothing. Heaven knows that our good-for-nothing media will never take them to task for their inaction.

I’m not a fan of Ramos because he can be quite aggressive in his interviews but I welcomed his aggression today,

I agree. Boner was caught off guard when Ramos did not blindly accept his word salad excuse for inaction concerning immigration reform. This exchange clearly illustrates that without a compliant and corrupt msm the GOP would not be able to continue to harm the country.

Fusion anchor Jorge Ramos confronted John Boehner at a press conference today about why the House has stalled for a year on immigration reform, and called him out for invoking Obamacare as a reason they haven’t gotten it done yet.

Boehner insisted he’s not blocking immigration reform, it’s just that the president “continues to ignore Obamacare, his own law,” and so he “reduces the confidence” of people who would otherwise like immigration reform. Ramos responded, “What does Obamacare have to do with immigration reform?”

Since the FBI began under President Theodore Roosevelt in 1908, agents have not only shunned the use of tape recorders, they’ve been prohibited by policy from making audio records of statements by criminal suspects without special approval.

Now, after more than a century, the U.S. Department of Justice quietly has reversed that directive by issuing orders May 12 that audio recording, preferably with video, is presumptively required for interrogations of suspects in custody, with some exceptions.

There was no news release or news conference to announce the radical shift. But a DOJ memorandum obtained by The Arizona Republic spells out the changes that will begin July 11.

I see on the local Chgo news that there is a protest demonstration for PBO’s visit because they want him to wave his magic wand and make the U. of Chgo. hospital a trauma center. Without comment on the merit—-may well be needed on the south side—–what in the world do they think PBO has to do with this?

President Obama seems to be having events everyday working so hard to get his positive messages out. And also his message—not so positive—-about the total obstruction tactics of the GOP.

I can only hope most, if not all, of what PBO is doing makes its way into mainstream America. How else can we counter the incessant cesspool of the corporate media? When POTUS takes his message to a community at least the local news covers the event.

    • 88 EricFive
      May 22, 2014 at 6:50 pm

I think PBO’s message is getting through. People are tuning out MSM propaganda as dwindling ratings illustrate. I don’t think the msm/gop propaganda offense we will see this summer will be as effective as it was in 2010. Also I doubt the GOP is in as strong position as the shills would have us believe. If GOP voters are so psyched to vote, why is there this constant need for rred meat and dog whistles.

The Cost: What Stop and Frisk Does to a Young Man’s Soul
Every afternoon when Trey left school in his car, two white patrolmen would follow him in their cruiser, sometimes a few blocks, sometimes several miles, before turning on their patrol lights.

When my godson Trey was a toddler growing up in Brooklyn, every white woman who saw him fell in love with him. He was a beautiful child, sweet natured, affectionate, with cocoa-colored skin and a thousand-watt smile. I remember sitting with him and his mom in a pizzeria one day, watching as he played peekaboo with two white ladies at a nearby booth. “What a little doll!” the ladies cooed. “Isn’t he adorable?”

I told Marilyn I dreaded the day he would run up against some white person’s prejudice.“His feelings are going to be hurt,” I said. “He won’t know it’s about this country’s race history, he’ll think it’s about him. Because so far in his young life every white person he’s ever met has adored him.” Marilyn nodded, but her closed expression seemed to say I was talking about things I didn’t really understand.

‘Russia has violated all possible treaties’

“Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius explains why the Baltic states want a permanent NATO presence in their countries. He also tells DW how Europe should proceed after elections in Ukraine.

DW: Earlier this week Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was withdrawing his troops from the Ukrainian border. Are you relieved?

Linas Linkevicius: No, I am not relieved because there have been similar statements before and they were never implemented. But I hope that this time they will be true. Troops must be withdrawn because their presence creates additional tension, which is already high. I am not relieved until it actually happens.

Especially in the Baltic states people are worried and sometimes even fearful of Russia. Were you hoping for a more determined stance by your European partners, like Germany or the UK?

I do not have any reason to doubt the security guarantees which were provided by NATO and the European Union. The right decisions were taken 10 years ago to join NATO and EU, but that does not mean that we should relax. Freedom and peace are not a given. They are something that should be defended when the time comes.”
