ABC News: Obama Salutes Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks

President Barack Obama congratulated the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday, saluting their victories on the field and their contributions to their community. Noting that some football analysts didn’t see Seattle as a top-tier team, Obama said he especially appreciated the team overcoming long odds.

“As a guy who was elected president named Barack Obama, I root for the underdog,” the president joked. The Seahawks clinched their first Super Bowl victory in the history of the franchise in February by beating the Denver Broncos 43-8.

Wow….those two Republican congresswomen were sure excited to get their pictures of the President! Do they not know their picture of taking his picture will be shown locally?

They are evidence, as if any is needed, that he has extreme star power.

So last week Randi ended her show and today Ed Schultz announces that he is ending his radio show and is Only going to podcast at Wegoted.com for One hour starting next Tuesday?

The right have their sugar Billionaires footing the bill for them and the left is just being drowned out in the medium and getting screwed by the MSM as well. That is just sad.

Misinformation through the airwaves are ONLY by RWNJs corrupting our system of governance.

I didn’t know that. I am forced to listen to Thom Hartman in the afternoons and I can’t listen to him all day when he starts bashing Obama. I guess I will have to find a music station to listen too. Thank goodness we still have Stephanie Miller in the morning on iheart radio.

      • 23 Nena20409
        May 21, 2014 at 6:49 pm

Sponsorship is more like it. Since the comments by Rushbo about Sandra Fluke…….in 2012, Ad sponsors flee in drove off the radio talkers programming. That act decimated the less than 10% Left Talkers the most.

The Clear Channel is Millions in debt. But for KOCHroaches, Heritage and others are keeping the 1300 talk hate alive, though marginally. They have been propped up to live another day while leftie talkers have no such benefactors to sponsor them.

“All of this is coming to a head because today the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a hearing to discuss the reform/repeal of the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force that is the legal framework for the war on al Qaeda. Eli Lake’s article is obviously an attempt by the intelligence community to weigh in on that debate. A google search of “news” for “Senate Foreign Relations Committee AUMF” indicates that not one liberal/progressive pundit/blog has written anything about it. Imagine that…President Obama has called for an end to this indefinite war, a Committee in Congress is holding a hearing to discuss that and the intelligence community is fighting back. But the only thing liberals seem interested in talking about are questions that have already been asked and answered. Shame on you!”

      May 21, 2014 at 6:51 pm

Hi PFW! I confess that I haven’t read today’s article as I just got on line and posted my Bo-recognition winner ๐Ÿ˜‰ but I noticed ‘AUMF’ and remembered that SmartyP had recently posted on the same subject. (Hope this comment is relevant.)

This week there will be bi-partisan efforts in both the House and Senate to reform and/or end the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force that began our indefinite war.

Liberals who have been vocal in their opposition to the activities this war has enabled (Guantanamo prison, drone strikes, surveillance) have typically been silent about actually ending it. But President Obama has signed on to do just that.

The AUMF doesn’t need to be reformed…it needs to be repealed. As the article above says regarding Gitmo:

…ending the AUMF would remove the primary legal justification that allows them [Gitmo detainees] to be held.

I’d suggest that as Congress takes this up – its time to weigh in.

I have a feeling when PBO is among children, it is one of the few times the SS have a bit less concern. Of course, it doesn’t last very long, but he comes away strengthened and invigorated – assured again his work will make a difference in the future. Those kids will be telling the story of meeting the President of the United States (and pulling on his ear), when they are surrounded by their grandchildren and great-grandchildren… The photos will live large in their family legend! Thus, does PBO shape the future, every time!

Chuck Todd just gave the most negative, dishonest, shameful report on the VA controversy. It is all Obama’s fault, and all veterans are furious at him and his inaction. I keep waiting for the scales of justice to tip——because that was disgusting and as misleading as Todd could possibly make it.

Sorry—-I understand what you’re saying—-ignorance is bliss—-but I will never stop watching. I want to know what they’re saying. I think it’s vital, in fact. I want to know everything. I don’t ever want to let them to be able to run away with lies, with no challenge, with no one blasting out corrections, unaware that there is a need to loudly proclaim the truth to combat all the misinformation.

    • May 21, 2014 at 7:11 pm

It just is always the same with them. Bush admin could say Abu Ghraib was just “a few bad apples”. The horrors of Walter Reed could be ignored for years. The Republicans can talk about supporting the troops while underfunding the VA and it was all just glossed over, excused, and ignored.

    • 63 hopefruit2
      May 21, 2014 at 7:38 pm

Chuck Todd is increasingly frustrated, because it appears that the Dems are on track to retain the Senate in November, gain some Governorships in key states, AND not lose more seats in the House. And most importantly, PBO remains a popular President – despite the MSM claims to the contrary.

Thus this VA Scandal represented one of Todd’s last opportunities to try to damage the President, and he’s now as unhinged as Ron Fournier on this issue. Last night Todd was literally salivating on Twitter on how this was going to be a “MAJOR problem for the WH.” Apparently, after PBO spoke this morning, all their hopes died down. The VA Secy did not get fired, and apart from media figures and GOP, and Baggers, most people responded quite positively to PBO’s remarks.

So Chuckie is now throwing a hissy fit in his “reporting.”

I hereby offer only a one time cautionary note to the GOP: President Obama now has officially been invited to bring on The Legion of Boom, with a simple phone call. Suggest the GOP watch their backsides, and sleep with an ear to the ground. If PBO ever needs to call on this lot, the GOP will know it, and they will never forget it. I jest not.

Pierce weighs in on this despicable bill:

As It Turns Out, The Dogs Hear Very Well

By Charles P. Pierce 5/21/2014 AT 4:15 PM

‘Josh Marshall goes deep into the hole and makes great backhand stab from a piece in Tiger Beat On The Potomac. It seems that the GOP monkeyhouse that makes up half of our national legislature has decided that it’s not even going to try and hide it any more.
And in a surprising twist, the bill language specifies that only rural areas are to benefit in the future from funding requested by the administration this year to continue a modest summer demonstration program to help children from low-income households – both urban and rural – during those months when school meals are not available. Since 2010, the program has operated from an initial appropriation of $85 million, and the goal has been to test alternative approaches to distribute aid when schools are not in session. The White House asked for an additional $30 million to continue the effort, but the House bill provides $27 million for what’s described as an entirely new pilot program focused on rural areas only. Democrats were surprised to see urban children were excluded. And the GOP had some trouble explaining the history itself. But a spokeswoman confirmed that the intent of the bill is a pilot project in “rural areas” only.

“Rural areas only” is a phrase that you do not need the Enigma machine to decode. So, your meth-cooking cousin in the Ozarks gets her kid a free lunch, but an honors student in west Philadelphia is out of luck. Is it even necessary to point out at this point how much I despair of the rebranding?’

I just want to reiterate that PBO’s presser today on the VA was masterful. His principles and commitment were in great evidence and I trust him to do the very best job to get to the bottom of this. He will find solutions despite the predicable and most certain obstruction by the RWNJs.

  31. 108 Vicki
    May 21, 2014 at 7:41 pm

According to an e-mail from Charles Gaba it seems the HHS department will stop publishing monthly updates. The numbers of ACA private enrollments plus Medicaid are still growing so this is puzzling.
Gaba isn’t positive that this is true and he is pretty upset.
I will wait for details. Seems unlikely to me that the WH would want to shut down publicity about this success.

I also think part of Chuck Todd’s lashing out at PBO about the VA and everything else has to do with the election results last night…. regardless of what has been reported, these results do NOT bode well for the GOP.
