Chat away? I for one am still speechless that you (CC) were not immediately asked to relinquish your rights to those Inaug pictures for the benefit of the (TOD) world! Cousin H slipped up there, for sure.

Anyhoo, Moneygall setting up a PBO site is excellent news to return to – AND, if I may say so, a step in the direction I’ve been advocating for the Pres Obama library/museum! Remember I was touting an international PBO library with branches around the world in key places willing to donate, and staff, a reputable site? Cousin Henry’s idea to have enough ‘exhibits’ to be able to rotate them is exactly what I had in mind, except that I envisioned the main PBO museum/library coordinating the rotation between countries. This is definitely a step towards my dreams for PBO being the FIRST U.S president to have spawned a truly international library. Moneygall has simply kick-started my vision! It will be a simple matter to and ‘& Library’ to the name IMO. šŸ˜‰ :):)

Well, *I* am speechless that you didn’t thank me profusely for the non-music chat ons I wrote Sunday! One of my thoughts was “Oh, vc will LOVE these.” Harumph!

Tons of apologies, Lib-L! 😳 My only excuse is that I’ve been feeling somewhat fragmented for the past week. I’m here, then I’m not – usually for longer than I intended – then I’m back trying to catch up and ……. Also, too, Sunday was particularly busy for me with ins and outs.
Yes, a very lame excuse for not expressing my appreciation! HOW.EVER. please note that I jumped right in on the poetry post sharing a gem or two, because I really do like poetry.
        .
        .
Profuse (though belatedly expressed) “THANKS!” for not only remembering that *for vc* poetry goes where music fails to venture, but also for using that knowledge to add cheer to my evening. I was cheered when I saw the poetry thread. Honest.

I know, but the ribbing was deserved. šŸ˜‰
[Part of my general problem is that I don’t like to say what everyone else may be saying at any given moment (ex: B-day wishes/praises), so I choose to wait until later – spreading things out so to speak. As a result sometimes my good intentions get forgotten by what comes next.]

I see Jose Diaz-Balart is getting the 10:00 a.m. msnbc time slot. I don’t know much about him, but my first reaction was—- not a friendly. Can anyone provide more info than my hazy-lazy impression?—–could be totally wrong——shocking as it may be. (only know for sure that he is a telemundo host) (and Castro is his uncle???—wikipedia)

His whole family are GOPers. He once had 2 of his brothers in the House of Reps for many years. One left just in Jan 2013 and another is still there in DC.

The only issue he speaks of is immigration that is close to normal thoughts.

He hosts two shows on Telemundo? A Comcast Spanish Speaking channel.

Castro is his Uncle 😯 Hmm?

His brother Mario is a current GOP Rep from FL, his brother Lincoln is a former long-time GOP Rep from FL.

WASHINGTON — On the eve of a critical Senate vote, the Obama administration signaled it will publicly reveal a secret memo describing its legal justification for using drones to kill U.S. citizens suspected of terrorism overseas.

Two administration officials told The Associated Press that the Justice Department has decided not to appeal a court order requiring disclosure of a redacted version of the memo under the Freedom of Information Act. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.

The decision to release the documents comes a day before the Senate is to vote on advancing President Barack Obama’s nomination of the memo’s author, Harvard professor and former Justice Department official David Barron, to sit on the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., had vowed to attempt to block Barron’s confirmation with a filibuster if the documents were not made public. Paul issued a statement Tuesday saying he still opposes Barron’s nomination.

Wednesday’s expected vote would allow the Senate to move ahead with a final vote on Barron on Thursday. “I think we’ll be OK,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said earlier Tuesday.

Thanks for the responses to my Diaz-Balart inquiry—-that’s the deeply buried memory I had——Repub and PBO critic. Oh great. And sigh! And I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

Well, we’ve all done everything we can for GOTV today and I’m too exhausted to do more, so chips (uh dice) will have to fall where they may. Turnout is light, as is to be expected for a primary in a non-presidential year, so I’m not going to freak out yet. Tomorrow, I deal with all the aches and pains– sore back, like LL, and a bad tooth, like Donna.

Dudette, it’s always a shock when Pa does something right and progressive. In recent years, there have been few things to make me proud of my adopted state, but this is a big, big win for the good guys. Go PA! And may it be a harbinger for the future.

Maybe the 24/seven clintonfest will abate somewhat after her book comes out on 6/10 or whenever it is.
Everyone with a new book does as much promotion as they can, right?
A vain hope perhaps but I’d really like to see less, much less of all things c*****n.

Well, if other people react like I am, all this pushing will have exactly the opposite effect they are seeking. The more she is pushed, the less I want her anywhere near the White House. She just thinks she deserves it, she does not think she has to earn it by hard work.
I still believe what I read in the New Yorker: She wants to BE president, but she doesn’t want to run for president. That is hard work, and she will actually have to come out with policies. AND……it’s not about her, it’s about the country and we the people. Right now she reminds me of Miss Ann. I can just hear her yelling “I LOVE you women!”

Just one of those days where Murphy’s law is in full effect. Had to go find a quiet place so I could “center” and maintain my “grace under pressure” persona.

          [exhale… inhale…deep cleansing breaths]

I came to TOD for sweet relief for a few minutes.

    Watching Rev. Al.

Do you know those muthafuckas in the GOP are doing a Summer Lunch Program FOR ONLY KIDS IN RURAL AREAS?

They have written into the law – to exclude urban areas.

So, all you dumb asses in CBC…

what say you now, after you met with the Zombie Eyed Granny Killer?

And politico – the right wing mouth piece says
“Democrats were surprised to see urban children were excluded.”

Why would anyone be surprised to see the GOP ignoring the urban poor – it is what they do.

    House GOP releases ag budget
By DAVID ROGERS | 5/19/14 11:39 AM EDT

    ……………
In the case of nutrition programs, the House bill seeks to open the door for starchy, white potatoes to be added to the list of qualified vegetables under the WIC supplemental feeding program for pregnant women and their young children. The Agriculture Department would also be required to establish a waiver process for local school districts which have found it too costly to comply with tougher nutrition standards for school lunch and breakfast programs.

And in a surprising twist, the bill language specifies that only rural areas are to benefit in the future from funding requested by the administration this year to continue a modest summer demonstration program to help children from low-income households — both urban and rural — during those months when school meals are not available.

Since 2010, the program has operated from an initial appropriation of $85 million, and the goal has been to test alternative approaches to distribute aid when schools are not in session. The White House asked for an additional $30 million to continue the effort, but the House bill provides $27 million for what’s described as an entirely new pilot program focused on rural areas only.
