In honor of Stevie Wonder, I want to note the following ….

  4. May 13, 2014 at 10:19 pm

BTW, the ability to RT or Fav tweets posted to TOD remains broken. Every time I try I get an system error message from Twitter. Only way I’m able to do either is to link to the person posting the tweet and then either RT or Fav or Reply. Just a PSA ….

Liberals Pick Dumb Fights with President Obama’s Judicial Nominees
    Spandan Chakrabarti May 13, 2014

Liberal groups – and some Democratic members of Congress – are picking dumb fights with two of President Obama’s judicial nominees. The fights aren’t dumb simply because they are trying to open a fissure when the party needs to close ranks behind the President, but rather because of the actual fights they have picked: in one case displaying the disastrous liberal ideologue propensity against compromise and in another, (of course), the liberal Benghazi: DRONES. Let’s talk about them one by one.

A VERY Happy Birthday to Stevie Wonder:) He writes about the songs of life…I can pinpoint all parts of my life by certain songs…he is a legend and I am so very grateful for his many, many talents. Life is so much better listening to Stevie Wonder songs and having him here with all of us. Not enough adjectives for him!

Man Who Plotted to Kill Obama Sentenced to Death
    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. May 14, 2014 (AP)
    Associated Press
A South Dakota judge formally sentenced a man to death for killing a woman as part of what he said was a plot to assassinate President Barack Obama.

The hearing Tuesday formalized the unanimous vote of a jury to sentence 44-year-old James McVay to death. McVay would have been sentenced to life in prison without parole if the jury’s decision had not been unanimous.

AP headline makes it appear the man’s plot to kill President Obama was the reason for his death sentence, not the actual murder of the woman. If I caught it, I’m sure some RWNJs did.

Splendid photo roundup of this genius and blessing to the world. So many breathtakingly brilliant and timeless creations. Adore the photo with PBO, and the album cover. I had a gold colored album , “Little Stevie Wonder”, a retrospective back when he had done more than most artists in a lifetime And yet was still gearing up for new heights . Favorite? What Mighty Yardarm said: “I Was Made to Love Her”.

I am sure you all got the same email from Robert Reich that started like this: “Carla —

It’s hard for me to believe, but on Friday Barack Obama staged one of the most ill-advised photo opportunities of his presidency.

After passionately calling for a higher minimum wage in his State of the Union speech and touring the country to highlight companies which treat their workers fairly, President Obama just visited the nation’s largest and worst employer — Walmart.

What numbskull in the White House arranged this idiotic appearance?”

I just sent off my reply, which I am sure they will not read..it goes as follows:

I’m sitting here, worried about the mid-term elections, wondering what I can do to help more Dems in Congress. Then I get this email. Well I have expected this sort of thing from Move On, now your group too.
I see that Huffington Post has the headline:What numbskull in the White House arranged this idiotic appearance?
So Walmart has invested in Solar Energy…is that not a good thing? Do we …MUST we agree with Everything a certain business, Party, or person does to support them? Can we not find common ground and recognize the things we do agree on? I saw the Hash-tag # bring our girls home that our first Lady used to promote awareness for the kidnapped Nigerian girls was trounced on by the far right. Well now that Pope Francis and Condoleezza Rice have used it…well the far right look mighty small. YOU know President Obama supports a hike in the minimum wage. He has been pushing for it. Just because he has highlighted Walmart’s embrace of Solar technology, it does not mean he embraces their labor policy.
Can we not cross ideology stances when we actually agree on something?

I am a life long Dem, I believe in fighting for the little guy that has long lost his/her voice. Where money talks and the rest of us are silenced. But by having YOUR group pull this we do exactly what the right loves and expects us to do. Fight within our own party. After President Obama leaves office I will change my party affiliation to Independent. I am tried of arguing with my own Dem Family. Between the far right, the far left and the media we have enough Obama bashing. I expect it from the right but seeing this sort of stuff over the last 6 years from within our own party, has had a profound affect on me. Will Rogers was right.

Its time for the far right and far left to grow up. Dialogue with those we do not see eye to eye with is a start, and to acknowledge that we actually do share some common views on what is good for mankind. That is where listening and respect take form.

Well, I am damned glad I read that tonight. Brava, Carla! Well said, totally. I didn’t even know Robert Reich was part of any group, and I don’t want to know which one it is.

What you expressed is something these far lefties have forgotten … the very definition of being a liberal. A liberal isn’t in lockstep with everyone like today’s RWNJs are. A liberal lets others think for themselves. Yes, as liberals, we want to hang with people who have the same values and interests. But if I don’t like each and every thought another person has, it doesn’t mean we can’t still sit down and have a meal together and a little conversation, where we might exchange some ideas. Of course, there will be no President Obama-bashing at the meal, but you knew that!

Too tired to express myself coherently, but no need … you did it for me! Thanks.

    Happy Birthday, Stevie Mr. Wonder!
Thank you all for the party.

In New York we never sleep……the after party is just getting started!
ONE of my favorite songs is “You Will Know”( if that is the title)……Sometimes Mr. Wonder plays with my head with his titles.
The song “As” never knew that was the title of the most beautiful words ever written.
Only a genious could do that.
And the fact that our POTUS and FLOTUS have a common ground in his music says a lot why their destiny was sealed way before we ever dreamed of this beautiful couple’s two-term residency in the WH.

    Love you, Mr. Wonder!
