Have I mentioned recently how much I despise the GOP? Blocking the minimum wage adds to their cruel acts.

Honestly Annieb, nothing the GOPs do shock me any more! Since some of them *are* poor, I’ve come to the conclusion Republicans just hate, period.

There’s just no limit to the GOP’s ability to be repellent, is there Donna? What has happened to them? How could the party allow the most hateful among them to control the message. People need to hear this kind of ugliness. They need to know what they’re voting for when they press R.

#Benghazi was one of the lead stories on CBS radio news this morning.

The reporter (didn’t catch who it was, but it wasn’t Mark Knoller) said that Republicans now feel like they have “the smoking gun” to prove that the White House (Ben Rhodes e-mail) coached Susan Rice for her Meet The Press appearance after Benghazi.

The reporter did mention that Ben Rhodes is brother to CBS Director of News David Rhodes.

Further PROOF that our despicable news media take feeds from the GOP and present it as news. The e-mail from Ben Rhodes proves that the WH participated in coaching Susan Rice for her appearance on MTP. This is a newsworthy surprise? As UN Ambassador, Susan Rice had absolutely nothing to do with Benghazi. If she had made an appearance without guidance from the WH, State Department and CIA, this Administration would be criticized by GOP/MSM for being too hands off, not engaged. Argh.

Our MSM is nothing more than a GOP/Koch propaganda machine and Americans need to be aware of this fact.

      Another ‘shooting gun’ fires blanks

      By Steve Benen

Dave Weigel added that in order to take the “smoking gun” argument seriously, “you need to forget the previously-known” information that’s already part of the public record.

Indeed, in some respects, the conspiracy theorists should feel discouraged, not emboldened – the “new” information Republicans are so excited about “reveals nothing new.”

And yet, ABC News’ Jonathan Karl seemed quite animated about this at today’s White House press briefing, which is a shame. Karl already has an unfortunate track record on covering Benghazi theories, and it’s already led to him to flub some of the new details.

Makes sense that PBO will travel to France in June.

I’m assuming he will attend ceremonies for the 70th anniversary of D-Day (June 6, 1944).

Unlike the US, other countries have a national memories beyond the current cohort’s living memory. This should make that awful shrew Maureen Dowd STFU for at least that week.

These NATO countries are forever grateful for the USA and the Marshall Plan. And yes, President Obama’s world view syncs more with the Marshall Plan than with the despicable neo-con doctrines that MoDo and her ilk advocate.

This sounds like it will be a very emotional trip that will honor the dwindling number of WWII who served so valiantly with the Allies, and will underscore how Russia is now a weakened, regional power.

Look forward to Chips and NW’s indefatigable coverage of the European trip and this historic time for Europe.

Thousands of French continue to visit the cemeteries at Omaha beach to honor fallen Americans on July 4th every year, which gives me the chills. Most Americans have no idea what the dates are for any other country’s national holidays, am grateful for this heartfelt show of support for this country.

        • April 30, 2014 at 5:05 pm

          The entire MSM disgusts me.

But I get particularly incensed when these worthless ivory tower elites (who have no real duties but to expound their personal thoughts) BELITTLE our hardworking, kind-hearted, gentle-but-fierce (“Please proceed, Governor”), empathetic, wonderful man of character.

They aren’t fit to walk on the same sidewalk as PBO.

I know this doesn’t compare to the pain inflicted on African Americans during this Administration, but I was beyond livid when the GOP Senate initially refused to confirm Chuck Hagel’s Defense Secretary nomination — a fellow Republican, and basically thumbing their nose at their enlisted service member base and to those affected by the Vietnam War draft — Hagel wasn’t drafted, but unless your Daddy could buy you a deferred status, young men of that era didn’t have the luxury to loll about and decide what to do with their lives.

GOP Senate tried to belittle Hagel (remember Ted Cruz accusing Hagel of being in bed with North Korea?) then, and MSM continues to do with MoDo’s reprehensible essay.

          End of rant.

I agree with every word of your rant! The Hagel episode was one of the worst. You summed it all up, expertly.

GOP Senator Inhofe: Obama ‘Suppresses Our Judeo-Christian Values While Praising Islam’

I just e-mailed him and asked his home state of Oklahoma was putting forward Judeo-Christian values last night at the botched execution.

“Pity the modern executioner. The Supreme Court has burdened him with obligations that reflect considerable ambivalence about his profession. (States generally do not release the names of executioners, but they appear to be almost all men.) The underlying task has remained unchanged throughout history, but over the years the Court has mandated that executions be conducted with some finesse. In 1890, the Justices said that the process could not include “torture or a lingering death.” Accordingly, in 2008, the Court rejected a challenge to execution by lethal injection—the prevailing method in the thirty-five states with prisoners on death row—because, as Chief Justice John Roberts noted in his opinion, the procedure did not present a “substantial risk of serious harm.” In other words, death is required, but harm is forbidden. Clear?……..

A buildup of pressure caused an explosion as workers were changing a wellhead Wednesday at a West Texas oil field, killing two of them and injuring nine others, a sheriff said.

Loving County Sheriff Billy Hopper said authorities received an emergency call before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday about the explosion some 60 miles southeast of Carlsbad, N.M.

The two workers who were killed died at the scene, he said. Their names have not been released. Hopper said he did not know the extent of the injuries for the nine who were hurt.

It was not clear Wednesday which company operates the oil field, he said.

Initial reports indicated the workers were operating an oil rig, but Hopper later clarified they were using heavy machinery to switch out the wellhead.

So Yesterday, ABC/WashPo had POTUS at 41% approval and today, NBC/WSJ has POTUS at 44%?

In Jan ABC had POTUS at 45% and NBC had him at 41%.

    Mother Knows Best?

A new NBC/WSJ poll has bad news for Jeb Bush. Nearly 70 percent of people say they agree with his mom, former First Lady Barbara Bush, that other families should have a chance at the White House. “I think this is a great American country, and if we can’t find more than two or three families to run for high office, that’s silly,” she said earlier this year on C-SPAN.
