      Morning, TnMG! πŸ™‚ I was busy sending a tweet response (based on a comment at the end of the thread) to some reporter guy who’s traveling with PBO.

    Man, our President and his Admin always manage to keep all his marbles in the game, despite all that is going on. I had forgotten about his weekly address so focused was I on trying to catchup on his trips, but *they* are still rolling along! Kudos to them, I say!

      Keeping with the min. wage issue

      The data shows why this issue is so important.

      In Texas, for example, almost 3 million workers would benefit from raising the minimum wage. And the additional earnings from a $10.10 wage could help a full-time, full-year minimum-wage worker afford either six months of rent, 36 weeks of groceries, or 103 tanks of gas.

      American workers are doing their part. It’s past time they get the raise they’ve earned.

      VC, this was just a fabulous weekly address. It was focused like a laser. The last paragraph says it all. It should be repeated 24X7 by any Democrat that gets close to a microphone or camera. Because the feckless media will never make that connection because it might embarrass the GOP.

      And if you agree with us, we could use your help. Republicans have voted more than 50 times to undermine or repeal health care for millions of Americans. They should vote at least once to raise the minimum wage for millions of working families. If a Republican in Congress represents you, tell him or her it’s time to give the politics a rest for a while and do something to help working Americans. It’s time for β€œten-ten.” It’s time to give America a raise.

      Thanks, and have a great weekend.

        YVW, LadyH! I’m already enjoying my quiet, overcast weekend – just turned down a girlfriend who wanted company to go to an auction. I have no plans to leave home today.

    Good morning! That photo is just astonishing–a work of art! Hope our president gets lots of rest on AF1, but I suspect he spends most of his time prepping and hearing reports about crazy Putin”s latest lunacy. I hope the OSCE observation team gets released soon. Four of the seven are German, which must be making Merkel very, very angry.

    New Report: Advancing America’s Fuel Economy Standards (April 25, 2014)

    As part of the President’s Climate Action Plan, this Administration has taken historic steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our National Program for fuel efficiency standards has set increasingly stringent targets for greenhouse emission reductions for cars and light trucks. The program is expected to save consumers more than $1.7 trillion at the pump and reduce 6 billion metric tons of carbon pollution over the lifetimes of new vehicles – more carbon dioxide than the United States emitted in all of 2012.

    To meet these standards, the American auto industry responded with innovation. They found ways to cut tailpipe emissions, make air conditioners for our cars more efficient, and deploy early incentives for alternative fuel vehicles. Today, with the release of the Manufacturers Report for model year 2012, we have our first glimpse into the progress we are making in meeting these targets.

    The result? The auto industry has not only met – but actually surpassed – the fuel economy targets by roughly 10 grams of carbon dioxide per mile.

      Feinstein was set on hysterics and drama – she wanted attention which she got;

      story went back to where it has always been => US intelligence working behind the many scenes with elected officials in order to determine how best to protect this country and world while adhering to constraints of a democracy

    I was just told that this picture conveys a lot because it’s a huge deal to have female Secret Service agents on POTUS detail; especially abroad. I didn’t connect with it when I posted the picture because President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama have always had female agents. It’s apparently a big deal to have African-American Secret Service agents on POTUS detail too and now we see them regularly on President Barack Obama’s and First Lady Michelle Obama’s detail at home and overseas.

    Wow….wow….wow! When President Obama said “change has come to America,” he meant it.

    • April 26, 2014 at 8:51 am

      You’re right about CHANGE. I’ve always noticed female SS agents when I’ve seen PBO in person but it looks like this one has risen in the ranks here. Excellent.

    • 35 jackiegrumbacher
      April 26, 2014 at 9:16 am

      My brother-in law’s son (from first marriage) is an SS agent. He says that only the very cream of the crop get anywhere close to guarding the president or the presidential family. Agents work for years and have to prove themselves time and time again to get to this exalted position. So every one of those around the president–no matter what their color or sex–is the very top of the line and earned their place with blood, sweat and grit.

          99ts, the problem with that is you have so many more who will ask stupid questions. This morning I come to the conclusion that I do not want to hear any report from CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC concerning POTUS Asia trip. All I have heard so far is what a disappointment it has been.

      Well, even if this info comes from an idiot, I’m not surprised that Merkel is making this trip. I’m sure she’s incensed at Putin and enraged at the insult to Germany in the capture of the OSCE team. I’ll bet she’s also looking to alternative sources of energy so that she can shut down the Russian gas supply.

        Yes, we do need Mr. Yardarm. I hope he is relaxing from his celebrations of his birthday. But the NMats need to be out right now.

        I love our TOD family, and of course, our great president. May his trip continue to be a great one for all humankind. We are so wonderfully blessed to have him in the Oval Office. Lord, please take great care of him all the way, we humbly ask.HZ

    Good morning TOD! I don’t want to bring down any LA Clippers fans, but I just listened to a disturbing recording of their owner arguing with his mixed race girlfriend about her associations with black people, They are the enemy and he does not want her to publicly associate with them or bring them to his games. Including Magic Johnson. I am flabbergasted! Saw the article in HuffPo.

      Morning, Paulita! Don’t let this guy rain on your Asia trip parade. There is so much goodness visible in this trip! {Some people are just unhappy in themselves, and, I think, ought to be ignored – at least when happiness is prevalent.} πŸ˜‰

      How are you today?

        April 26, 2014 at 9:34 am

        Hi Vc. I’m sorry. I don’t mean to bring down the good start to this day re. the presidents trip. His interaction on the world stage and all the goodwill and pride he evokes keeps me uplifted.

        But I am of mixed race (all the poorest people in the world), and I’ve been called some of everything. You just have to hear that recording for yourself to understand the slave owner mentality that still feels like it can operate with impunity.

        That is why I come here. To be reminded that their is still hope for the majority.

        The sheets are coming off!

        • 75 vcprezofan2
          April 26, 2014 at 9:52 am

          Paulita, though you don’t need to apologize for what you choose to watch/listen to, I wonder in passing why you want to (watch/listen). With or without sheets many people of colour or mixed race have always been able to sense, and distance themselves from, the slave owner mentality. I like to think *I* won’t let any of *them* determine *my* state of mind – life’s short enough as it is.

          (Hope you won’t be bothered by my answer as it’s not meant to criticize; more hoping to suggest another way )

            It’s okay Vc. I like the fact that the bullshit is out in the open. This is the only way things change. The Clipper’s owner and his girlfriend are discussing the same thing being played out in the media only not in code. I like to know who is who and how come… racism, sexism and homophobia all feels the same.

          hang in there !

          Sure the election and re-election of PBO has shown the world racism that is often hidden or not publicized;

          the good thing is that the core racism is all being exposed for the world to see and hopefully confront – yes it hurts a lot to see this;

          the best thing is that a majority of the people of many races have had enough of this racism and are doing what they can to move us all along as we isolate the bigots

    • 79 anniebella
      April 26, 2014 at 9:19 am

      I’m no L.A. Clipper fan, but I would like to read that article. Why would he be afraid of his mixed race girlfriend hanging around black players, scared they might take her from him. Or is he a racists?
