The First Family Celebrates Easter

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama depart from the North Portico of the White House to attend Easter services at the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church

So I tweeted this hours ago

Loving the photos of the First Family. Prez is looking “dap” as my dad would have said. Off to have apple pie ala mode after a dinner of roast leg of lamb, fresh green beans with potatoes and wild rice. I wonder what the First Family had for dinner today?

It’s really amazing how impossibly handsome he gets with each passing day. Likewise, FLOTUS just gets more beautiful. All this despite the torrents of hatred and pettiness levied at them 24/7.

        Apparently, love conquers all.

Oh, I’m quite sure he’s beside himself at the maturity of both his “girls.” They are so stunning and accomplished at even this young age, his heart must swell with pride.

I bet POTUS and FLOTUS heart swell with pride of their daughters, because when it’s all said and done they are the most important things in this world to them. I always remember POTUS speech to the men at Morehouse U at last year graduation.

He said something like when time on this earth is coming to an end, he won’t be thinking about him being President or anything like that, but he will be thinking about his family, Michelle and the girls, the time he spent with them, how their life were.

Did anyone watch all of ABC’s World news this evening? Because unless I missed the segment, they didn’t once mention the First Family on Easter Sunday, even though they devoted two whole segments discussing Easter activities/celebrations here in the US and across the globe, including a fawning segment about the Royal Family who spent Easter in Australia.

Someone please tell me that I missed the segment where they reported on the First Family…

hp2, I didn’t even need to watch ABC news to know that you are telling the truth. The only thing you need to know about ABC is that they employ both Jonathan Karl and Laura Ingram.

        April 20, 2014 at 7:45 pm

I did not watch ABC, CBS, or NBC evening news, because all we are getting is coverage of William, Kate and George, more coverage of them then we got when FLOTUS was in China, or POTUS last overseas trip. I don’t mean any harm but I don’t care one bit about seeing the England royal family. Remember all the media kept talking about was FLOTUS soft diplomacy, comparing what she wouldn’t say to what Hillary did say. Well was has been the purpose of William and Kate trip?

I just finished my Easter dinner at work; I had battered fried chicken with an exotic mix of spices on a bed of red beans and rice. Buttermilk Biscuits and a beautiful drink consisting of picked wild cherries and coke. And for dessert I had baked Washington apples tucked nicely inside a toasted crust infused with cinnamon.

    Life’s Demerit System

All married men will attest to some real wisdom in this email…

…In the world of romance, one single rule applies:

Do something she likes, and you get points.
Do something she dislikes, and points are subtracted.
You don’t get any points for doing something she expects.
Sorry, that’s the way the game is played.
Here is a non-exhaustive guide to the point system:

    You make the bed. (+1)
You make the bed, but forget the decorative pillows. (-10)
You throw the bedspread over rumpled sheets. (-3)
You go out to buy her what she wants (+5) in the rain (+8)
But return with Jack Daniels. (-5)

You check out a suspicious noise at night. (+1)
You check out a suspicious noise, and it is nothing. (0)
You check out a suspicious noise, and it is something. (+5)
You pummel it with an iron rod. (+10)
    It’s her pet Schnauzer. (-20)

You stay by her side for the entire party. (+1)
You stay by her side for a while, then leave to chat with an old school friend. (-2)
    Named Tina (-10)
    Tina is a dancer. (-10)
    Tina has breast implants. (-40)

You take her out to dinner. (+2)
You take her out to dinner, and it’s not a sports bar. (+3)
    Okay, it’s a sports bar. (-2)
    And its all-you-can-eat night. (-3)
It’s a sports bar, it’s all-you-can-eat night, and your face is painted the colors of your favorite team. (-10)

You take her to a movie. (+1)
You take her to a movie she likes. (+5)
You take her to a movie you hate. (+6)
You take her to a movie you like. (-2)
    It’s called ‘Death Cop.’ (-3)
You lied and said it was a foreign film about orphans. (-15)

You develop a noticeable potbelly. (-15)
You develop a noticeable potbelly and exercise to get rid of it. (+10)
You develop a noticeable potbelly and resort to baggy jeans and baggy Hawaiian shirts. (-30)
You say, “It doesn’t matter, you have one too.” (-80)

She asks, “Do I look fat?” (-5)
(Yes, you lose points no matter what)
    You hesitate in responding. (-10)
    You reply, “Where?” (-35)
You give any other response. (-20)

When she wants to talk about a problem, you listen, displaying what looks like a concerned expression. (+2)
You listen, for over 30 minutes (+50)
You listen for more than 30 minutes without looking at the TV. (+500)
She realizes this is because you have fallen asleep. (-4000)

Send this on to all of the gentlemen you know to refresh them on the point system.

Bob, I hope next week sees stiffer and broader sanctions imposed on Russia and more help to Ukraine. Putin obviously regards the Geneva document as mere tissue paper to be tossed into the trash at will.

    • 63 jackiegrumbacher
      April 20, 2014 at 9:56 pm

Bob, my husband found a notebook by General George Marshall that was written for and tailored to each individual US county on the World II victory in Europe and the Pacific. The interesting point is Marshal said that for all of his passion, Hitler did not think strategically and that’s what did him in at the end. He didn’t coordinate with his allies and defied his generals because he thought his instincts were right. I think Putin is also acting instinctively, rather than strategically. He’s plunging ahead, alienating the world without thinking through the consequences to his country.

      • April 20, 2014 at 10:17 pm

“I think Putin is also acting instinctively, rather than strategically.”

Your thinking, Jackie, is quite accurate. More than one report has indicated that the only people who had any idea what Putin was going to do in Crimea were among a small ‘inner circle’ of ‘yes men.’ ZERO forethought of consequences and his subsequent actions are indeed quite similar to Hitler’s random, uncoordinated, and unhinged actions (in spite of the fact that he had brilliant strategists and military leaders trying to advise him).

Hitler didn’t have nukes. Putin does.

That’s what causes me the most concern – a raving megalomaniac, becoming ever more desperate as his economy implodes (which is already accelerating), and apparently zero checks and balances on his actions.

It would not surprise me if what concerns President Obama more than anything about the sanctions he readily can deploy is that by his accelerating the crippling of Russia’s economy, with no one in Russia capable of subduing Putin, could trigger a conflagration.

This is serious stuff, as you well know, Jackie.

    what has become crystal clear me during PBO’s time in office is what a POTUS is up against => the many vested interests who want the US to be in a stage of perpetual war;

    these war-mongering voices are well organized, deeply funded and have a clear platform to push their message;

    my answer to people like that imbecile david brooks who questions PBO’s core is this: only a strong human being can stands against the multitude voices clamoring for perpetual wars;

There is a tremendous peace to be known in our own homes and lives, once we have made the choice and trained ourselves not to listen to the mindless and endless chatter of these ‘pundits’ and ‘news-tainers’. We are so fortunate to have the Internet now, to stay abreast of change and situation, without the exhaustion of hearing distorted views pitched into the privacy of our lives. iPad is thinking it needs a break this evening, very weird behaviors I have never seen, so I think I’ll bid you all a blessed Easter night! There is much to rejoice! We are making a difference, every single day! Believe!

Thank you MightyPamela for your lovely light throughout our beautiful and loving TOD family. I hope you will have a restful night.

Candles going in the music room and bedroom. Loving thoughts to our beautiful First Family. Prayers of protection and wisdom as both our POTUS prepares for his trip and VPBiden takes his trip as well. Let us keep goodness of thoughts and prayers centered toward their spaces as they continue to work so hard for this nation.

Loving light flowing from the candles
Warmth in our thoughts pouring forth to give encouragement and
      Brightness full of patience.
As we think, speak, and show our love for this great man, our President
      To Always Stand Tall
      And Never Stumble or fall.

      May Almighty give him wisdom
As he takes his cares to his quiet place of meditation and prayer
So that the peace of all peace may rest gracefully there.
This man who gives us all a reason to be proud and full of hope
      Knowing that there will be times when we may not be fully able to cope;
But we realize that his faith will carry him to a sweet and quiet place to ponder
While the world will sit and wonder:

From where did this beautiful and compassionate soul was able to arrive and reached out to touch so many souls?
      Well, we here at TOD will always have an answer within our hearts to unfold to the world why we still are standing behind him tenfold. Be assured my dear friends, he will count on all of us to keep our chins up, put our boots on, and be ever so ready to march with confidence Though this tempest is raging around us and for sure it is not for the faint of soul;
But together we will strongly be always ready to not give up, not give in, and not give out
Until we reach the long term goal.

Forward, Forward, Forward we march with our bright lights of power
Knowing that we must not do this walk cowardly no matter how rough the journey may get;..
We must not step in a manner that is less than what he gives us each and every day he is in that Oval Office.
Good Night my loving TOD family.HZ

I am not a writer, but I just speak from the flowing of the love that I have for each of my beautiful TOD family members. I humbly give total love and respect for the many, many brilliant and beautiful minds who write more lovely than I will ever be able to do.
