🙂 It was in the river Alycee! He’s going to spend a month this summer by the sea so I was kinda eager he’d learn to swim first, I’d visions of having to buy him one of these:
It was the funniest thing ever Hopefruit, he’d had a couple of attempts before and nearly drowned, because he actually thought he could walk on water, but today he watched a Golden Labrador swimming in the river and then took the plunge. My only problem was convincing him to come home, he didn’t want to leave. He is now curled up in a ball, utterly exhausted!
Oh my..it’s like a kid riding their bike without training wheels for the first time, and putting up a fight when it’s time to leave the park 🙂 Danny must’ve been utterly thrilled at his newly-mastered hobby. I can understand why he didn’t want to leave!
He was giddy with excitement! He has some work to do on his swimming style, it’s not elegant, the Golden Labrador was peeved with him because he kept splashing her when he punched the water with his paws. Hopefully practice will make perfect.
That very first time is just awesome to watch them having a wonderful time. Where are the pictures of this awesome animal. I got a hoot out of your story of the fox in the hen house (haha) eating his food. That is hysterical for you .
I had a pitbull jump my fence and I was babysitting another yorkie, scared the heck out of me. Todo came in when I opened the door, Not Megan she curled up in a ball and was frozen. Had to wait until he jumped backed over the fence to get her. New neighbors. The pound came and got him. I couldn’t let him run loose. He jumped 4 fences to get to my house. Scary.
Got cookies in the oven have to take out. BBL
Neither will I. 🙂 I was scared stiff, Megan and I are the same, we don’t like dogs bigger than us. 🙂 Actually, I love big dogs, usually they don’t scare me, but Pit Bulls are another story.
Happy Easter to you and Danny. Have a wonderful day tomorrow.
And all of the TOD Family.
Been there. My kasper was almost killed by a pit bull that scaled his own fence. Months of nursing, multiple surgeries, physical therapy, thousands of dollars. God bless the doggie e.r. right near our house that saved his life -multiple times. I admit, I’m an awesome doggie nurse, Kasper was not about to give in and die, and Mr. 57 got Kasper, Nickelby and himself home alive so I could take over.
New neighbors next door with two pits. I was walking Pearl across the street and the pit was raising hell. Could have scaled the fence if he wanted to. Scary.
Holly Crap Roberta in MN I would have froze too. I hope Megan is OK. I will never forget I was in an area where this couple was sitting outside with their bull dog and this lady was passing with a young cocker spaniel. That bull dog went from laying down to attacking that poor cocker spaniel. The owners of that bull dog almost could not get their dog to let go of that poor puppy. I never heard such horrible screams from an animal in my life.
Hi, Alycee! How are things going today? I saw that your neighbour passed on and also remember that you are doing the health shuffle. Sure hope your Easter weekend is upbeat in all areas.
“Much attention has been paid to the fact that the federal minimum wage has not kept pace with inflation (or with increases in worker productivity, or with the rising incomes of the 1 percent). But in a much less abstract sense, federal and local minimum wages have also failed to keep up with the rising cost of rent……
….As a result, according to a new report from the National Low Income Housing Coalition, a minimum-wage worker in the District of Columbia – where the wage floor is currently $8.25 an hour – would need to work 137 hours a week to afford what the Department of Housing and Urban Development considers a fair market rent for a modest two-bedroom home. Put another way: A local household would need 3.4 full-time minimum-wage workers to afford such a home. Or, a single earner in that household would need to make a lot more money: $28.25 an hour to be exact…..”

Damn…donna we must have some kind of wavelength connection because i was just about to ask what are you, LL, Lockeiswright having for Easter dinner tomorrow! And then lo and behond, I’m seeing a post from you on THAT VERY TOPIC!! 🙂
Your dinner sounds simply heavenly (no pun intended), and will you have the precious twin baby girls and their parents over to participate in the fun? 🙂
Yep! My baby girls will be here tomorrow. They change by the week so I look forward to these Sunday visits. I’ll have the entire Donna Dem extended family here tomorrow for Easter. Keep in mind that my mom had 12 brothers and sisters. I don’t even know how many cousins I have but I’m expecting about 40 people tomorrow. 😯
Oh my LL…hope they score just for your sanity. But if they don’t – take heart! Tomorrow is Easter, and if they lose, you can treat yourself to a couple gimlets.
Yeah, I remember being 7 or 8 and my brother taking me to the Audubon and telling me that’s where Malcolm X was killed. Of course, I had no idea who Malcolm X was at the time.
But you were still shocked enough at that age to remember the experience. I think it’s the hushed tone of voice older people use when they tell kids something serious, even if there’s no real understanding, as to why they at least remember the incident.
yes it was tragic…Malcolm X had evolved after his trip to Mecca…I often wonder where we would be today if both Malcolm X and Dr. King had not been assassinated!
LL – Saw your tweet – I like this part of the article:
“In 2010, Kate Vandemoer, a birther activist, announced the Usurpathon, a “Rolling ‘Velvet Revolution’ to Remove the Usurper, et al,” from office. The plan was to bring 10,000 protestors to the Mall, Congress, and the White House to lay siege to the administration. Two people showed up.”
It’s a soupathon! Wonder which of the two bought lunch?
(Actually, stuff like this remains scary to me, no matter how much we laugh it off. I shall light a candle.)
I'm sure hilarity will ensue | "1.8 million definite militia members" to march on DC, install new government http://t.co/wDkoOmsjlg
Good day to my Chips, TOD family and my very smart and handsome grandson, Danny. (((((((((( Hugs to the great swimmer in our family))))))))))

From your smothered pork chops to Ham and Salmon, I am on my way!
You know how (as the youth would say), to “throw down girl.” January 2017; when we say goodbye to our beloved 1st family, the food and celebration of the joy they brought to us all, will take place at donna dem 4 Obama : )
Start preparing donna……..please take orders early. I want “EVERYTHING!”
Happy Easter to you and your beautiful family. Have a wonderful day tomorrow.
Happy Saturday Chipsticks and Danny! Congrats on your 1st swim Dannystix…..I heard about the brown, beige, things Danny. You must stay out of trouble Danny. No more socks for you : )
Wishing the TOD FAMILY a very Beautiful and Happy Easter (if you celebrate) and warm BLESSINGS.
Has anyone read the story? They don’t want our 1st Lady at the graduation : (
I don’t understand foolishness so I pray that Mrs. Obama don’t bother……people are really stuck on stupid. How could you not appreciate a member of the 1st Family, speaking at your graduation?
You are loved Mrs. Obama, as President Obama has done, just brush it off with a smile : )
Kansas speech by Michelle Obama draws complaints (full story on Yahoo).
Have a WONDERFULLY, SPENDID and PERFECT weekend “EVERONE!”
I honestly thought it was a joke when I first read the story. Even the comments are vile (I made the mistake of reading some of them). Some people are just miserable and hate this family for no other reason, than the fact, that they are black.
Hello to you and Happy Saturday, Cindy:) I just had gotten done reading this as a link from BJ when you posted about this. WTH is wrong with Kansas? Seriously, what normal people shine on the FLOTUS and tell her to forget it, they don’t really want her there? I don’t even REMEMBER a speaker of any consequence at my high school graduation…yet these families think that telling FLOTUS no is ok? We are really in the shitter as a country if this happens. Honesty, I thought the ignorant hate fest was relegated to the looney fringe…since when does disrespect all of a sudden pass as being ok? I don’t want to BE in a world where it is alright to disrespect others like this…especially the FLOTUS. We HAVE to do better. HAVE TO!
It saddens me; the level of disrespect and hate this family has endured is beyond words. I love everything that they represent and are trying to do for this country, and has done for this country. However, there are real moments when my heart aches for their pain; hatred and prejudice that are put on them. In those moments, I wish that there time was up because this country don’t deserve them.
I’ve never in my life time, witnessed the love that they pour out on people, and on this country, to see us all at a better place in life. I don’t remember or recall, another 1st family that has been so involve with the “people” and made us feel so good, and showered us with hope. I love this family because of the love that they so freely give, and I hurt inside because of the hate that they endure. They are real genuine human beings, and parts of this society treat them as nothing more than being less than a human being. They have represented this country in 1st class all the way; nothing for any of us to ashamed of, and because of the color of their skin, they are disrespected at so many levels. I pray for them daily because the load they carry is heavy.
My confidence in them, is knowing that God called them; anointed them and appointed them, to serve us, and this country, in a time such as this. He protects them from the ugliness of this world.
I hope that Mrs. Obama will not accept and go where she is loved and welcome; Kansas lost, and another school’s gain.
part of me wished that FLOTUS would choose not to go because there are many places that would give an arm and leg to have speak;
but the stronger (and more stubborn) part of me that wants to shame and challenge the bigots feels very strongly that FLOTUS chooses to go. this is her country too.
FLOTUS’ citizenship was earned through an ancestry that gave so much so that these kinds of bigots could live and prosper.
She has paid her dues to walk and speak wherever she choose and as the song goes “ain’t no body gonna turn her around”;
let the bigots go and not show up for commencement;
ps:
anyone tries to pull some physical nonsense will have to go through the dedicated members of the US Secret Service (have stood near some during PBO’s rallies and they don’t tolerate any kind of nonsense)
was telling friends that we have to start challenging those who remain silent in the face of this kind of hate-mongering and bigotry (something MLK emphasized when challenging those choosing to remain on the sidelines of the Civil Rights struggle) ;
millions of people of diverse backgrounds voted for PBO so they need to speak up;
even among those who did not vote for PBO but know that such hate & bigotry is wrong need to speak up;
the hatemongers are few but loud and many are rich & have easy access to the public megaphone.
so when people choose to remain quiet, they are ceding their space to the hatemongers – silence may be equated to consent;
Do these parents and students think FLOTUS has nothing to do with her time and is going to languish if she doesn’t get featured at their graduation? I say let Kansas put back ‘the glory and shine [on]the children’ [quotation from article]! It was somewhat interesting to me to see quotes from some students who ‘had worked so hard’ to graduate and didn’t want their accomplishments overshadowed. They might have worked hard, but their point here doesn’t sound too bright or perceptive to me. I say pat them on the back, give them their piece of paper and let them go forward…. and frame their accomplishment. Heck, give the single mother who raised her boy ‘for 18 years by myself’ a certificate too! Dimwit! 🙄
“A furor over what the Topeka school district considers an honor has erupted after plans were announced for Obama to address a combined graduation ceremony for five area high schools next month an 8,000-seat arena. For some, it was the prospect of a tight limit on the number of seats allotted to each graduate. For others, it was the notion that Obama’s speech, tied to the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Brown v. Board of Education outlawing segregation in schools, would overshadow the student’s big day.
‘I’m a single mother who has raised him for 18 years by myself,” said Tina Hernandez, parent of Topeka High School senior Dauby Knight. “I’ve told him education is the only way out. This is one of the biggest days of their lives. They’ve taken the glory and shine from the children and put on Mrs. Obama. She doesn’t know our kids.”

Analysts See Promising Trends From Afghan Election
“While uncertainty remains over the outcome of the Afghan election, analysts say the vote is showing some promising trends toward democracy.
Partial results released from the April 5 election point to the likelihood of a runoff contest between candidates Abdullah Abdullah, who received 41.9 percent of the vote, and Ashraf Ghani with 37.6 percent.
Both men are former high ranking members of President Hamid Karzai’s government. A runoff vote would be held after May 28.
Despite threats from the Taliban, which had escalated its campaign of violence to disrupt the election in the weeks prior to the vote, Afghans in the millions stood for hours to cast their ballots.”
Once took a train to D.C. and didn’t realize it was Earth Day that year. Had to grab a cab from the station and be driven to Leesburg, VA. Thought the traffic would be a wild mess, but – instead – just a whole bunch of nice Earth Day people everywhere. I like a happy ending.

Wow — 1st first in forever. My reward for braving the madhouse traffic and coming home empty handed…
Helloooooooo Alycee!
Congrats Alycee on #1 🙂
Congrats Danny on your very first swim – which by all accounts went swimmingly well!!
Yes, Danny, CONGRATS! Where did you swim? Lake? Pond? Stream? Ocean? Mudpuddle????
🙂 It was in the river Alycee! He’s going to spend a month this summer by the sea so I was kinda eager he’d learn to swim first, I’d visions of having to buy him one of these:
The summer by the sea???? Are we invited??? And does that vest come in my size?? LOL

Hopefully practice will make perfect.
And tire him out at strategic times, IF you plan well. 🙂
Indeed. Go ‘head dannystix!
Aaaah! A visual learner. 🙂 I’m quite proud of you, DannyO.
Did your mom swim with you, or does she swim like your Aunt VC?
From the beach chair on the pool deck
🙂 If you mean you splash violently and cause tidal waves, yep: I swim like you!
^ 5 I would if I actually got in the water!
We do have a lot in common, you and I. 😉
Ha, we definitely do VC!!
Happy Easter weekend TOD. Danny, hope you enjoyed your swim 🙂
Happy Easter LP!!!
Thanks for the weekend round up…..an invaluable commodity these days! Telly Danny, better be glad it was swimming & not a car ride!
Oooooooh no!!!!!! 😆
LOL! Are pets allowed to ride in car seats in reality?

Yikes, a pitbull? I would have been terrified.
I’m the worst mother in the world Roberta, didn’t have my camera with me when Danny had his first swim – he will never forgive me!
Neither will I. 🙂 I was scared stiff, Megan and I are the same, we don’t like dogs bigger than us. 🙂 Actually, I love big dogs, usually they don’t scare me, but Pit Bulls are another story.

You are kitchen WARRIORS!! Your dinner sounds absolutely wonderful. Enjoy every moment and we want PIX!!
Will do!!
wow! that’s a lot! have fun 🙂
Donna, do you do all this work, or, do you get help?
No No….That’s where all those cousins come in handy 🙂
I wanna come for dinner 🙂
Depending on what happens in the next 15 minutes, I may be a very cranky librarian. Just giving a fair warning.
I’m bracing. But pray, tell, why? Hope its nothing too serious.
If Chelsea doesn’t score in the next 12 minutes, its fate in the championship quest is out of its hands.
Oh my LL…hope they score just for your sanity. But if they don’t – take heart! Tomorrow is Easter, and if they lose, you can treat yourself to a couple gimlets.
What the heck has happened Sunderland, first Manchester City, now this?!
Damn it, this flippin’ title is being handed to Liverpool 😦
Fuck. Me. A penalty.
This. Is. Unbelievable.
The Unicef Conspiracy follows Jose to London. I blame Pep.
OMG, Sunderland penalty.
It’s 11 a.m. I need a cocktail.
Wow, one of Chelsea’s assistant coaches is wanting to fight with the referee!
I actually thought he was going to spit at the ref, he was so incensed. Meltdown time.
Just a couple of blocks away from our first apartment.
Wow.
Yeah, I remember being 7 or 8 and my brother taking me to the Audubon and telling me that’s where Malcolm X was killed. Of course, I had no idea who Malcolm X was at the time.

Malcolm X was assassinated on Feb 21…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malcolm_X
Well, that was a sloppy “history” tweet, then. Sorry I R/T’d it, although the event was still tragic – no matter the exact date.
yes it was tragic…Malcolm X had evolved after his trip to Mecca…I often wonder where we would be today if both Malcolm X and Dr. King had not been assassinated!
Danny! You like the water do ya? Awesome!!
He’s a fish, GGail, a big cuddly fish!
Awww, give him a (((hug))) from me.
Will do GGail! He’s now insisting I call him Phelps, he can’t get over himself.
Hahaha, you go Danny. Your mom owes you another swim outing so she can take pics for your adoring fans and family to see!
Woof woof!!!
On that day the total number of surnames to be found in DC will increase by a total of about 6, possibly 7.
I’ll guess 5!
Thought for the day. (I usually watch Hoarders on background when I want to do a little spring cleaning, but this should work.)
If anyone has earned a big win, it’s Nina Turner.
Welp.
If we’d put 100 bucks on Sunderland to win that game, we’d now be pottering around the world in our private jet. Insane!
That might have made up for the massive sadz I have now.
Oh I love the way you write dannystix 🙂 Chips has taught you well.
All right, off to help the missus with housework. Football is dead to me. DEAD. (Until next Sunday at Anfield.)
GOOOOOO, Danny!! A swimmer, just like POTUS!!
Good day to my Chips, TOD family and my very smart and handsome grandson, Danny. (((((((((( Hugs to the great swimmer in our family))))))))))
Chips, make sure he is watched carefully as he takes on the waves. I knew my grandson would be brilliant at any task mommy puts before him.

was telling friends that we have to start challenging those who remain silent in the face of this kind of hate-mongering and bigotry (something MLK emphasized when challenging those choosing to remain on the sidelines of the Civil Rights struggle) ;
millions of people of diverse backgrounds voted for PBO so they need to speak up;
even among those who did not vote for PBO but know that such hate & bigotry is wrong need to speak up;
the hatemongers are few but loud and many are rich & have easy access to the public megaphone.
so when people choose to remain quiet, they are ceding their space to the hatemongers – silence may be equated to consent;

New post!
