US News: Obama Presents Commander-In-Chief Trophy To Navy Football Team At White House
President Barack Obama says the Navy football team not only had to overcome tough opponents to win the Commander-in-Chief trophy this year but a government shutdown as well. The military service academies had to suspend some sporting events last fall amid budget fights in Washington. But Obama says Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel intervened to make sure Navy’s match against Air Force would go on. Obama joked as he accepted his commemorative jersey that he’s going to have enough to dress a whole team. Obama says that even more impressive than their football record is the Navy team’s commitment to its country.

44 must be the most popular number I history
Gooooooooregous photos Nerdy, thank yooooooooou!!!
Thank you, Chips.
Wowie! I missed this event, so thank you.
One more for you:
You’re welcome and thanks.
PBO could probably have a separate museum solely for his Obama 44 sports shirts.
Would be nice if he were allowed to keep one or two for actual wear, I think.
Indeed. Two Presidential Libraries won’t be enough for PBO… 🙂
I am still standing behind the idea of two presidential libraries in the U. S. of A, PLUS a couple(loosely defined) of international branches in a few countries he has visited and who are willing to provide space etc. (I’m thinking Ireland, maybe South Africa, and of course the first country he visited as Pres). With all the mementoes he will have, I see no difficulty in being able to set up a system where some of these could be loaned to the international branches on a timetable. After all, don’t zoos loan animals and art museums loan art?
PBO has had so many firsts, I’m rooting for him being the first US President to have international branches as part of his presidential library …oops…libraries.
Let’s face it, Hopef, you and I both know that those local branches would do excellent business because the President is well-loved abroad! Can you imagine the excellent work Henry Healy, Rev. Neill and Chipsticks would produce being greatly involved in the Moneygall/Irish branch?
“of course the first country he visited as Pres”
#YesOuiCanada
Great ideas, yes?
Oui, oui!
And an honorary branch in Seattle, as his Mom was from here, and she brought him here for while when he was a toddler Barack.
And a branch in Los Angeles where he attended Occidental College
HF, are we certain it was Canada?? 😉
🙂 🙂 Oui. 🙂 🙂
🙂
Hey, I was just preparing your recommendation letter as one of the curators for the Irish branch of the President Obama International Presidential Library!
That’s very kind of you VC, but there’s one problem: Danny. He’d chew everything.
Meanwhile. LL?
🙄 Leave Danny out of this – plus he’ll be all grow-ed up and well-behaved by the time this gets off the ground!
egg.sack.lee
I overslept. ‘cos danny.
I have no socks. ‘cos danny
I burnt my
cakedinner. ‘cos danny.picking, picking, picking.
But all those are entirely true, especially the burnt cake one.
In total agreement with you, Amk! 😯 😀 😀
(These new smilies continue to suck the life out of my comments! I actually took the trouble to write two begging comments to WordP, but it made no difference.)
Huh, riiiiiiiight!
Also 2, have you considered that Danny’s (supposed) bad behaviour reflects on his parent? A child is ‘bad’ – must be something the parent hasn’t done right! 😀
{Yea, DannyO, we have her over a barrel here!}
I have set an impeccable example for him VC, but he has chosen to take a more rascal-ish path.
Teeheehee!
‘have set an impeccable example’
You have such a great sense of humour! Teeheehee!
Also, how about substituting ‘creative’ for ‘rascal-ish’ – so much more positive, don’t you think?
When he arrives with you for his six month summer vacation, I want daily reports on his creativity.
‘daily reports on his creativity’
What kind of a relative do you think I am! I would nevah! Why, that would be telling! I am shocked that you would think *I* would so betray DannyO’s privacy. Is that what you think of me? Sheesh. 😉 😉
O, and BTW, we’ll be lucky if we get two months of summer, especially the way the weather has been behaving.
You do know that tomorrow is the last day of National Library Week, no? We like Belgian chocolates. Just sayin.
🙂 Here ya go:
I think a trip to Bristol Farms to peruse its chocolates might be in order for tomorrow.
Which location and what time, I’ll tag along and sample for you
Westchester, by LAX. Come along!
Make it after 2p.

Thanks for sharing (emailed it to my offspring).
Just beautiful!
Thanks for sharing hopefruit. This has brought a tear to my eye as it’s caused some serious reflection here. Be Blessed. ❤

Good question!
Or sneaking in that title “President” in each and every tweet? One of my pet peeves. Otherwise, love it!

Ahhh. Perfection.
Amen
Good morning amk
GM GG.
Amk, don’t cha think G2 would be better for me?
Hate mail is not preferred reading 🙂
caught it, didja? just wanted to start some trouble. 🙂
Mission accomplished mister! 😀
He deserves support ….
Have to say, Bob, that this is that this military blog is absolutely riveting. The writing is frank and clear-eyed and just an amazing piece of reporting.
Agree and it’s being written by someone deeply involved in Ukraine’s military.
1. My daily CNN tweet – check.
2. My evening chocolate Russell Stover Easter bunny – check.
How old am I? I think I’ve had one of these chocolate hens. Anybody else remember them? Or Allfather’s “yellow yolk” eggs? Well, then, change that to how old are YOU (not me!)?
The chocolate hen was the prized item on Easter Morning!!!!! 🙂
Yeehaw! Your comment was like arriving on another planet and hearing someone behind the rock speaking my language. Or something. 🙂
Well this day ended on a sour note as a car driven by a distracted teenager rammed into the back end of our car and disabled it. They kid had borrowed his grandparents car and they are now in for the shock of paying our repairs. So, we’re out a car for who knows how long and are shaken and exhausted. Oh well, tomorrow is another day and we can always walk.
Ah, JackieG! {{{JackeG}}} Good news is that you are both okay! Sorry you had to go through that, but am hoping you won’t be stiff tomorrow.
That, VC. I hope so, too.
JG, when someone backed into the side of my car (long ago), my insurance company had me in a rental within a few hours, as they dealt with the other insurance company for compensation. I kept that rental for the duration of the repairs. Check on this as soon as you can, it might apply to your situation.
glad you are ok!
That you were not injured is the most important outcome, Jackie.
Yes, Bob, that’s true and we both knew it. Wish our car was at least drivable, but that’s just something we have to accept.
So sorry you have to deal with that hassle, Jackie. Just grateful that that’s the only negative outcome.
AMEN.
Thank goodness you weren’t injured and are here with us. Get some well deserved rest and we’ll see you tomorrow.
(((Jackie))). Sorry to hear of this accident, but the good thing is that you are still here and not injured. Hope you are able to get your car repaired as soon as possible.
Not.
JackieG, happy to hear you all are okay, just shaken up.
So sorry to hear this! Glad you’re all okay, but for the car damage.
{{{Jackie}}}
o sorry to hear, but ‘am mighty glad that you and your family are OK.
Our West Coast friends – please enjoy this lovely opportunity!! 🙂

Awww…thank you.
The person who spelled it “expresso” must be flogged.

I have never longed for a weekend as much as I have for this one. I’ve just been muddleheaded all week. Now it’s a weekend of rest and puttering around the house.
Not surprised. That’s all Glen Greenwald’s shit!
