No sign of the princesses in that picture?

Good Morning, TOD! I’ve almost let out my breath that the phone isn’t going to ring this morning. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    Good Wednesday Chipsticks…TODers!

    Everyone enjoy your day.

    Toooooo funny:

    • April 16, 2014 at 7:58 am

lol… CNN just provided a script for a SNL skit.

The “breaking news” headline has become meaningless. When you talk for days or weeks about something that’s expected to happen, how is it breaking news when it happens. And at what point does it *stop* being breaking news?

      • April 16, 2014 at 8:02 am

“…. at what point does it *stop* being breaking news?”

        Exactly! πŸ™‚

And the laugh is, I used to joke about CNN announcing the sinking of the Titanic as ‘Breaking News’ – and here it is!!!

They have become their own punch line. How pathetic.

          • April 16, 2014 at 8:31 am

They really have 57, they’re not even trying any more, those sinking ratings seem to have convinced them they need to become an entertainment channel. They’re a joke.

Then they should air game shows or something else. They still bill themselves as ‘news’ and that is a travesty.

Somehow I suspected it was *your* fault, CC! /smh/ I should have known. Probably resulting from your pal-ing around with Wolfie. /this calls for an old-fashioned smilie eye roll right here/

          • April 16, 2014 at 8:32 am

Exactly my point, CC – You’ve got to stop hanging around with this guy, worshipping his name, saving his every (silly) word! Grandma used to say…

‘You lie with dogs, you rise with fleas’
‘Show me your company; I’ll tell you who you are’
Can’t remember anymore right now, but feel sure will remember later. πŸ™‚

Morning from now frigid PA, where Spring– exhausted from its one-day appearance– decided to take a holiday. Woke up last night worrying about the Ukrainians. I hope they make it through another day without too many people suffering. People in PA have until Monday to register to vote–a full month before the primary. This system is so absurd, it defies belief and was put together solely for the convenience of county voter registration offices and not the people. One more example of how this state is behind the curve on just about everything.

Paging Chris Cillizza who just a couple weeks ago, exclaimed breathlessly on Twitter that “Dems should be terrified” of a poll showing that they were lagging behind the Repubs in some thing or another…now, CRICKETS from the same Cillizza….

Chris Cillizza is just like Chucky Todd, Ezra Klein and all those cable pundits who think they know everything, and who doesn’t care for the truth just a story to fit their agenda, even if it’s fill with lies.

If Kansas R’s are stupid enough to choose a radical TPer in the primaries, then she should definitely run and if she wins and goes back to DC as a senator, she can stick it to all the R senators who vilified her in the hearings. Of course, she will only know who wins the R primary when it’s too late for her to get on the Dem ballot, so she would need to take the risk and get on the ballot. I hope her sense of irony and justice wins out and she goes for it. Kansas truly does need to come into the 21rst century.

I wish there was someone like her in Oklahoma to challenge our rightwingers! You all read yesterday what our absolutely stupid governor did about the minimum wage. She and her administration and cohorts are dragging us unrelentingly back to the 19th century. Just amazing. We are 49th!!! in education funding, and the lege and governor are not doing anything to fix that. We are losing teachers in a flood…..all the governor and lege do is demean the teachers and education. We have gone so far backward since Fallin was elected in 2010 it is unbelievable.

Coburn is retiring, but we still have Inhofe, who is bragging in his ads that he is ranked the 5th most conservative senator. Two of the three men running in the Republican primary are trying to outreligious each other.

Frankly, Oklahoma wasn’t this bad when we moved here. We had three progressive governors, and a legislature that was blue dog Democratic, which could be worked with. The religious right has a hold on this state which is scary.
Kansas and Texas will come to their senses before we do, and we will follow along, slow as always, thirty years behind everyone else.

Interestingly and fortunately we have an excellent med school, excellent dental school and excellent veterinary school. They were started many years ago, when this was a genuinely populist state politically. Today they wouldn’t have a chance.

Hope Sebelius runs and buries Roberts!

    • April 16, 2014 at 10:22 am

WOOOOOOTTT!!!! She would be a terrific Senator!! She knows how to govern and she has the right politics. Kansas knows her well. I hope she makes a go of it.

Whatever past criticisms of Bloomberg, I am giving him all kinds of credit for launching this most important effort——and will hope with all my might they are ultimately successful. Smart to combine all these anti-gun violence organizations. I give a lot of credit to Shannon Watts of Moms for Gun Sense too—–was just an In. busy mom of 5 who was stirred to action by the unthinkable tragedy at Sandy Hook—–she walks the talk—has organizations of moms in every state and has been successful in some local efforts. Big money is needed to combat the NRA, which Bloomberg is able to contribute—-see Warren Buffett is on the new board too. There is nothing more important than this determined effort —–to the future of this country, imho.

Good for Bloomberg. Why haven’t the right wing nuts said anything about how their friend that racists con got those guns to kill those three people in Kansas City? You think that ex-idiot from the View might know, how about O’Reilly, have FOX said anything about?

Good Morning TOD. Your New York up-date:

Mayor Bill de Blasio has eliminated a police department unit that infiltrated and spied on Muslim communities. This is a big step forward that matters to the City.

The “breakaway democratic caucus” that has given Governor Cuomo and the Republicans control of the state Senate looks like it may be falling apart.
That is what real dems and Mayor de Blasio want, of course.
I’m hoping the runaway dems can be roped back into the democratic caucus and give the Governor headaches and the rest of us a chance for actual improvement in our cities and states.

Hopefully he will eliminate the police department unit that spied on the White Supremacists Racist Groups. Oh is there any of those out there. Are were they just focus on the Muslims? Those racists groups are just as dangerous.

WASHINGTON (AP) β€” President Barack Obama on Tuesday cut prison time for a drug convict sentenced to more than three extra years because of a typographical error in a court order.

White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler said Obama’s commutation of Ceasar Cantu’s sentence from 15 to 11 1/2 years demonstrates “the importance of clemency as a fail-safe mechanism” for worthy inmates who run out of options. She said Obama has directed the Justice Department to improve its clemency recommendation process and recruit more applications from convicts.

“The president believes that one important purpose can be to help correct the effects of outdated and overly harsh sentences that Congress and the American people have since recognized are no longer in the best interests of justice,” Ruemmler said in remarks prepared for delivery Tuesday at New York University’s law school. “This effort also reflects the reality that our overburdened federal prison population includes many low-level, nonviolent offenders without significant criminal histories.”

How One Michigan City Is Sending Kids To College Tuition-Free by NPR STAFF – April 16, 2014 3:41 AM ET

On how the program is changing expectations among students and educators in Kalamazoo

Adams: Back when I was going to school, before the Promise was announced, teachers weren’t really asking, “Well, what school are you going to after graduation,” or, “What are you going to major in?” It was, “What are your plans after graduation?”

Whereas now, it’s teachers telling you, “What school are you going to?” So it completely just changed the mindset that I think a lot of our administrators have β€” our educators and our kids have β€” in our community.

Miller-Adams: That’s even happening at the elementary school level. I have a daughter who’s been in Kalamazoo Public Schools elementary school for about five years. And, yeah, that college-going culture and attitude and expectations penetrates all the way down to kindergarten.

Anyone want to experience President Obama and Hillary perform Pitbull’s “Timber”? No? Well, anyway……
(I think I might prefer Pitbull and Keisha’s version, which I requested for the last CD mix my daughter made for me which she told her h.s. students about—–and all had a big laugh about their teacher’s mom)
