Just remember: a President McCain/Romney would have us in a war by now.
🙂 Congrats. Songbird by Barbra is ok, but while searching for it I found Fleetwood Mac. I closed my eyes and laid back while listening. . .
Nice song 🙂 First time I’m hearing this one.
It was my first time too. . .
😉 ;). ;).
KennyG…Songbird
Thanks. . . 😎
Good move.
😉
Hearing about the bad news in East Ukraine, April 22 seems very far away. What will have happened by then?
The West doesn’t seem to have a lot of options.
It would be dramatic , unprecedented, but the right thing to do right now would be to throw Russia out of the UN Security Council. The G-8 is defunct obviously, but that’s not enough. Russia has to be completely isolated from the international community.
What will China say of the invasion of East Ukraine ?
Exactly how do you throw Russia out of the UN Security Council?
Short answer: I don’t think you can.
That’s what I thought! Russia is a Permanent Member of the UN Security Council with VETO power. Consequently, Russia can veto any Security Council resolution that seeks to “throw Russia out of the UN Security Council.” I think the response by the US, NATO and EU, to the latest Russian aggression against Ukraine, should focus on ratcheting up economic sanctions and increasing military assistance to Ukraine. On the other hand, I am really not qualified to offer any advice. I have the utmost trust in President Obama, VP Biden, SoS, John Kerry, SoD, Chuck Hagel, and NS Advisor, Ambassador Rice, to do the right thing. I can even bet that they are all closely monitoring the crisis in Ukraine and have more information about what’s going on than I do. They must also be considering different options to determine how to respond the continuing Russian aggression.
O dear!
Hi VC. 🙂
Hi!
👋
Was it Bobfr who first called Puting “Tsar Vlad?” Very fitting term…
Think so. . .
*Putin* 🙂
Don’t you hate auto correct sometimes? 😉
Yes, but this time I can’t blame autocorrect.. .:)
😉 No one would know. . .
Just our secret. It looks like a typical autocorrect. 😉
Indeed CarolMae. 🙂
Furst?
Morally
Universally…
Well, no. Universally you are 14th…..at least for now.
😦
Sorry. Good news! •►You are currently ‘furst’ after #21!
Thanks LL for a great bunch of tweets. 🙂
Thanks a million for this LL, a great way of catching up with today’s developments. Top man!
I think Putin is going to see his economy squeezed like a pip.
I sure hope so, it’s the only thing that would stop this guy.
Well, Ukraine suspending payments on Russia gas is huge.
I will not make any observations or declarations on this thread that could end up on twitter.
Well you’re no fun! (Did something end up on Twitter? I’ve been away all day.)
Ask Chips what did she do
That’s why you have to be on Twitter yourself, so you can give Chips shit. As in, Manchester United’s woes.
Don’t give GGail any ideas, please. I get enough grief from you, Nerdy and DCPlod.
LL, I was real tempted to sign on today!
Noooooooooooooooo, I fear your revenge!!!!
Yeah, sure you do -Ha
🙂
Oh dear. Don’t worry, when I have my L.A. TOD bbq I’ll ply her with cocktails and charge them to your account.
Oi, I want an invitation!
Well, that’s just assumed that you’re invited.
Sorry, I meant “it’s just assumed that you’re invited”. I’m on three Manhattans. Did I tell you it’s a gorgeous day in L.A. today?
Hush, you.
And I’m watching a nature show on BBC4, which makes me happee. BTW, Everton is in the top 4. I think the end is nigh.
Everton aka Ireland: Coleman, McCarthy, McGeady (and the rubbish/injured Gibson). 😎 Or Colemanzinhio as I prefer to call him.
Hmmmm… Everton has enjoyed its greatest run of success in years… and Man U its greatest run of failures… What links the two?
Excuse me you, Everton finished fourth before under Fergie the Younger.
That’s a deal !
Yes.
😆
On more serious matters:
Not shocking
Tee. Hee.
Oh, but in Nov those idiots will turn out to vote for the extremists who want to dismantle the ACA….
AMK – Looks as though the rest of us were ushered out of the Capehart twitter residence, as well. Too funny.
And, the apparent king of not likin’ criticism, he told somebody else to move along back in February, with this hashtag: #yourenotthebossofme
Playing in the sandbox we are. I guess it’s better than cussing people out. And now I, too, shall move along.
Capehart blocked me in 2012 after I told him that he didn’t know what he was talking about when he wrote a ludicrous piece suggesting that Willard could win because he doesn’t have much baggage, just like Former NY Governor Pataki. Capehart twisted himself into a wretched pretzel comparing Willard to Pataki who Capehart claims “won” by flying quietly under the radar. I told Jonathan that a 2012 Presidential race in 2012 is in no way shape or form analogous to a 1994 gubernatorial race. And I went on to give him the reasons. He couldn’t refute my points so he blocked me, and that was that.
I am no threat to him, since he hasn’t blocked me – laughed with AMK last night when he blocked him.
It’s agonizing to watch Capehart on MSNBC. That’s one of my beefs with him. He’ll wait until he hears what other(s) on the panel say, and then say the exact same thing but puts the words in a different order, as though it’s all original thought. He is really the least of our worries, and sometimes he says some good stuff, but when they’re using inappropriate wording, I’m going to try to call ’em out every time!
Guess I’m non-threatening also. My extended exchange with him:
Beautiful!
I just checked out your TL and quite enjoyed your back and forth tennis match with Mr. C.
I’m in the bedrest, got time on my hands mode. Don’t f with me…
I won’t. Ha! Glad you’re resting, although still using your time wisely. 🙂
Urge all of you to watch the video in this tweet …
Am afraid 22 April may be a bit late for VP Biden to visit Ukraine.
I would say that’s a call to arms. April 22 may be too late indeed. Personally, I think he ought not go there at all right now, but meet in a neutral place. Too many wackos running around. Everywhere.
Ex-act-ly. Ten days is an eternity in the present situation.
I watched it Bob. this is bonechilling. I don’t know what to think.
Bob, I don’t know for a fact, but I suspect the date must have been agreed to by the government of Ukraine. I know in matters like this it’s not easy to predict with any certainty of how quickly the situation on the ground could deteriorate. At the same time, I have the utmost trust in President Obama’s team. The President and his team, as well as EU and NATO, must be closely monitoring the developments in Ukraine and weighing different options about how to respond.
Dr. Joyce Banda, President, Malawi just don’t play…

Good for her!!! Well done President Banda!!
I saw that! Awesome!
My niece was a journalism major and worked at a university library through college. Her heart remains in that community (and she’s still with the American Libraries Association, many years later, although she’s a writer – not a librarian). Everywhere she travels – here and abroad – she stands in front of the local library and takes a photo (even before selfies were en vogue!). The best part of all this is she heard then-Senator Barack Obama in ’05 at one of the ALA conventions and sent me collectibles on it. Yeehaw.
My little town had a library charter in the 1880’s; it closed sometime in the early 1900’s (no one knows why …). I am determined that we are going to open a library/reading room in my town!
Wonderful! If anybody can do it, you can.
My sister used to live in a one-street town in W. Pennsy. They had an all-volunteer library/reading room. Folks would donate the books, and then donate their time to man the mini-library.
If true …
…. fully agree with his assessment 🙂
I hope a whole lot more people do what he did. Like ALL of them!
Yes, if all the Russian forces just stepped across and took sides with Ukraine, this would be over. Today.
Oh, the fucker Joe Walsh has inserted himself into the Bundy Ranch brouhaha because of … you know … freedumb. Why not.
That stupid ass probably ended up here: http://www.bunnyranch.com/
And they’d probably reject him. Ha!
For Sure! Wouldn’t you??!! That’s some nasty mess right there!
You betcha! Eek.
😆
Couldn’t resist…
Joe Walsh, freedom is also taking care of your dam children, paying child support that is owe them.
Perfect! #PoorNevada
Chat away!
