Success Is: #7MillionAndCounting

Russell Simmons: President Obama, Go Ahead & Dust That Dirt Off Your Shoulders!

I’ve always believed that the collective prayer of young people can change the world. From the early days of hip-hop to the emergence of the millenial’s to the power of the Obama presidency, young people have pushed forward a much more progressive agenda than any generation prior. When young people want something, they go get it. No waiting in line, no asking their turn, no seeking permission; their tenacity to achieve the impossible is unmatched. A few months ago, it almost seemed impossible that the Obama administration would reach their original goal of enrolling 7 million people into the new affordable health care system. After a bumpy start with the crash of their website, very few people believed that the administration would get to a place where the program would be deemed successful. The President needed at least seven million new people enrolled in ACA in order for the most important program of his presidency to actually work. Republicans had certainly written him off and many Democrats quietly gave up.

Our work certainly is not done, but with over seven million people enrolling in Obamacare, we ought to be very proud of what we have accomplished. The legacy of this great President is growing by the day, as one who leads with compassion, tolerance and generosity with always a focus on equality. I thank him for his resilience for never giving up, even after so many thought he would fail and so many actually wanted him to fail. He led this campaign with incredible determination and this nation will forever be indebted to him for uplifting all Americans and changing our health care system forever. Now, let’s go enroll another 7 million people next year!

No, the best for me was the woman in red with her hair crazy asking Sen. McLoss/Palin if Barack Obama was a Muslim. “…Is he not?” and the fact that the dear POW had to say “No, Ma’m. He is decent man, a family man, with whom I happen to have some disagreements.” I’ll always savor that moment.

So, you just do as you are told, and you will love it, understand?? Take it from one long-term, overachiever, wonder-woman type A – if you can just learn to relax and rest now, even if it’s against your nature, you will be so glad you did, later. I am still dealing with an unknown level of exhaustion, as I just didn’t believe it could happen to me. Got that? And we’ll be watching… O_o o_O

Thanks for posting. After reading the article and comments I firmly believe that we have reached a tipping point. More and more people are seeing the propaganda for what it is. The desperation and fear of the 1%ers are making them more and more sloppy and obvious in their quest to prop up the gop by using their control of the msm.

        April 4, 2014 at 6:21 pm

I believe and feel you are quite correct EricFive. I sense people are scratching their heads wondering what is being thrown at them, because it does not jibe with what they are seeing and experiencing. Reality is taking on a new shape for millions now, and going forward. Plus, if people just STOP turning on the bullshit programming, the ratings will plummet, and those networks will be cancelled. That’s the way of it.

The “Colbert Report” host “has indicated that he’s willing to take over the Late Show when the time comes,” according to people familiar with discussions. He would be leaving behind his “conservative” persona should he take the helm at CBS.

The network has also discussed the matter with with Colbert’s Comedy Central colleague, Jon Stewart, according to the report.

A reminder of the goodness in the world:

Yesterday I was almost plowed down by an old guy in a truck because I had the audacity to cross the street when the light turned green. He pulled over and started screaming at me for cutting him off. Then he sped off and ran the next red light. Frightening.

As it turns out, according to military officials, this week’s Ft. Hood shooting was a result of that soldier being mad——and had access to a gun. Got into a “verbal altercation” with Human Resources because when he asked for a leave of absence form, he was told to come back the next day. He became enraged about this temporary delay and returned with his brand new automatic handgun——have gun, will shoot——and started shooting away at one and all. That’s the trouble with guns. When someone has one handy, and is a hothead, has issues, for whatever reason, it often gets used impulsively, foolishly, in a moment of rage

All of this … plus I think his mother had passed away and there was a problem getting more than one day off to go to Puerto Rico and back for her funeral … not that any of that should have resulted in what happened, but it seems things were piling on, in his mind. And he had the gun.

Dotster, I admire and appreciate your continued truth telling about the gun insanity that’s affected our country. We are the most clueless nation in the world when it comes to guns and we tolerate and encourage a level of violence that’s really unprecedented among first world countries. That people lost their lives because some little twit didn’t get a form at the exact moment he wanted it is beyond lunacy. I don’t know what it will take, but it has to be something or we’ll all be running off like that Statue of Liberty in the toon Donna tweeted.

        April 4, 2014 at 6:05 pm

The gun climate in this country is insane. I don’t understand it at all—–we’re the only civilized country with this gun-crazed population. And frustrating beyond belief that the NRA seemingly controls our Congress ——they have been completely silenced and made immobile about pursuing any common sense gun violence prevention bills. And any time there is a mass shooting, the opposite of what sensible people would presume to be the result happens——gun sales sky rocket, Repub controlled states pass new laws which further loosen gun laws. Mo. just passed, or is seeking to pass a law which would nullify all federal gun laws——also had a provision which would threaten fed. agents with jail time if they interfered——have had to remove that little tidbit. Also—-passed conceal carry at schools and lowered the gun license age from 21 to 19. Just crazy nuttiness squared.

“Ukraine’s new authorities have arrested a dozen members of the country’s disbanded “Berkut” riot police. The men are suspected of participation in the February slayings of dozens of protesters in Kiev, gunned down while agitating for the ouster of then-President Viktor Yanukovych. The authorities say more arrests are to follow and they are turning their attention to other security units, including a crack Ukrainian anti-terrorist team first identified by the Daily Beast last weekend.

In a dramatic press conference by the prosecutor general and heads of the interior ministry and SBU state security, Ukraine’s new security chiefs say Yanukovych ordered the mass slayings and the snipers were under his “direct leadership”. They allege also they have uncovered evidence that Russia’s intelligence service the FSB assisted and advised Ukrainian counterparts in the bloody bid to suppress anti-government protests, leaving more than a hundred dead.

The new head of Ukraine’s SBU intelligence service Valentyn Nalivaichenko told reporters that his predecessor at SBI, Aleksandr Yakimenko oversaw the carnage in the Maidan on the orders of ex-president Yanukovych. The operation started to be put into effect on the evening of February 18 when 108 Alfa Team members tried to set up on a building overlooking Independence Square. Protesters had vacated the structure earlier because of an fire there. The Alfa members were armed with AK-47s and sniper rifles, including German Blaser hunting rifles. But the fire and smoke prevented the Alfa team from remaining in the building.”

This is not Munich 1938 and everyone best hear exactly what President Obama and SOS Kerry are stating re: Ukraine

“Ukraine — not the United States or Russia — will determine its own future
    Published: April 3

The April 1 editorial “Shut out ” suggested that the Obama administration is working with Russia on Ukraine without the participation and input of the legitimate, interim government of Ukraine. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Secretary of State John F. Kerry has underscored in his meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov the steps Russia must take to deescalate the situation. The administration has been clear that Russia’s occupation of Crimea is illegal, will not be recognized by the international community and must be reversed. That is the approach I hear from the Ukrainian government. We have made no promises beyond that, nor have we engaged in decision-making with Russia over the future of Ukraine. As President Obama emphasized when Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk was in Washington last month, “We want the Ukrainian people to determine their own destiny.” That idea has guided U.S. policy from the first days of this crisis.

The Russian government’s illegal “annexation” of Crimea caused this crisis, and the Russian government’s actions to deescalate tensions will resolve it. It makes sense for Mr. Kerry and Mr. Lavrov to talk. But Mr. Kerry put it best when, after meeting with Mr. Lavrov on Sunday in Paris, he said: “There will be no decisions about Ukraine without Ukraine.” That is how we see it, and we’ve been keeping in touch with the legitimate government in Kiev and the people of Ukraine to ensure that they are the ones who choose their future.

    Geoffrey Pyatt, Kiev

The writer is the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine.”
