Thanks Amk. Watch carefully the moves that PBO makes during this entire process. Keep our President and AG in your thoughts. Look out for Gitmo . Sometimes, these fools set up blocks for PBO to handle when we might think the timing is long gone; but it just might work out for us in a way that will help us get some closure on gitmo. Just watch and see.HZ

I will not say anything about seeing Eric Cantor and was it Orrin Hatch at the bill signing. The purpose of the signing the bill is more important. In memory of the little girl, and hopefully prevent others kids from going through what that little girl did.

It’s well past time for Americans to recognize the simple fact that without licenses from the FCC it would be illegal for ABC, NBC, & CBS (and others) to broadcast.

Among the legislative priorities of our totally DEMOCRATIC CONTROLLED 114th US Congress, the top of the list should include:

    1 Legislation that ablates SCOTUS rulings on unlimited political campaign donations by corporations and rich folk;
2 Severe penalties, including revocation of FCC license, to any broadcast corporation (TV & radio) that spreads verifiable lies.

    The TRUTH will prevail …

    “Ukraine’s paper-shredding activists
    By Lucy Ash

A group of volunteers is painstakingly piecing together shredded documents in the hope of uncovering corruption under the leadership of Ukraine’s ousted president, Victor Yanukovych.

Eleven-year-old Dmytro Pynchuk’s desk is covered in scissors and pots of glue. He is a dab hand at assembling complicated models and proudly shows off his paper aeroplanes and World War Two tanks. Now his expertise is proving useful, as he and his parents give up their free time in the evenings and at weekends to piece together shredded documents.

These contain information about stolen assets, offshore accounts, bribes and other secrets that nobody outside the circle of the Ukraine’s ousted president was ever supposed to lay eyes on.

When Viktor Yanukovych fled his palatial estate north of Kiev in mid-February, his staff attempted to get rid of tens of thousands of sheets of paper by burning or shredding them or by dumping them into a reservoir.”

Sorry, but I beg to respectfully disagree! Term limiting Supreme Court Justices would be a much worse solution! What’s important is for people to mobilize and organize to vote in both Congressional and Presidential elections to make sure that our side wins. If we had not elected a Democratic Senate and Democratic Presidents,(both under President Clinton and President Obama) term limit or no term limit, none of the four Democratic appointed justices would be on the Supreme Court! I personally would NOT want to see Justices Ginsberg, Bryer, Sotomayor, and Kegan, term limited.

AMK, I don’t think it’s fair to blame the founders who wrote these provisions in the U.S. Constitution. Both the 1st and 2nd Amendments, as well as life-time tenure for justices, are being manipulated and abused by right wing justices. We saw them do the same to the 14th Amendment when they used it stop the counting of votes in Florida, in 2000, and pretty much selected G.W. Bush to be President. The same 14th Amend. that legalized African American citizenship. The “Bush v. Gore” decision was clear proof, and precedent, that right wing judges detest democracy. The decisions of the five right wing justices, in both the “Citizens United” and McCutcheon” cases, further illustrate their hatred of democracy. In “Bush V. Gore,” Scalia was not even bashful! He loudly stated, from the Bench, that the Constitution did not grant every citizen the right to vote.

So many of you keep good records and know so much, that I’d like a little bit of help. Today, somewhere…..it was on the web and not far from here, I saw the headline that the percent of older white people going to the Republicans went down from 21% to 10% since about 2008….I think. Does anyone have the reference for that? Thanks in advance. I’ve searched several places, and can’t find it, and know it’s not my imagination!

Friends, I’ve been feeling down for a couple of weeks.

    Now I’m getting riled up.

This disrespect shown PBO by the Big 3 networks was the last straw.

They no longer serve the public good, but their corporate paymasters.

The fact that even oldsters are trending away from the GOP lends a dimension to the desperation of the corporations. If seniors no longer go for the GOP in overwhelming numbers, their days are at an end.

I don’t think the polls reflect what’s going on. Because of Obamacare, 20+ million people either have healthcare for the first time, or have a better deal than they had. They will NOT allow that to be taken away.

Jimmy Fallon can mock all he wants; these are real numbers, real people having real security.

The media is into news-porn: the latest abducted blonde girl, or the Malaysian airline. But we see through them.

I think as November draws closer, the polls will reflect what’s really going on in this country, and it will shake them to their cores.

That’s why Charles Koch penned his diatribe; I’m sure he has in-house pollsters, and I wager he doesn’t like what he sees.

    Dr Martin Luther King…

    Jan 15, 1929 to April 4, 1968…

do you remember where you were when he was killed….

I was in the 9th grade…my grandparents were devastated…the community was overwhelmed….it was such a deep momentt

    • 78 nathkatun7
      April 4, 2014 at 1:14 am

Prettyfoot58, I was a sophomore in college when Dr. King was assassinated. Like many of my school mates, I was totally devastated. I remember not attending class for the entire week after. To be honest, after the death of MLK , and then two moths later, RFK, it took me a very long, long, time to recover from my total disillusionment in this country.

        April 4, 2014 at 1:17 am

I remember it all quite well, too, nath. Sometimes it feels as though it were almost yesterday, and not 1968. We lost more of the greats that year, and I still wonder what our country would have been like, had they survived.

        • 80 nathkatun7
          April 4, 2014 at 6:45 am

I still wonder too, Jacqueline! In 1968, when I was just a 22 year-old college student, I was so hopeful and enthusiastic about change, despite all the hardships we had witnessed in prior years. Then all of a sudden, the world quickly turned upside down. Yes, to this day I still wonder how the United States would turned out if RFK had been elected President instead of Richard Nixon? What if MLK was still around to challenge the moral conscience of the Nation about poverty and racial discrimination during the rise of the selfish conservative movement of the 1980s that promoted the Me.Me, generation?. Sadly, history is like that. It’s so unpredictable! It never moves in a straight line. For me I am so thankful for the emergence of President Obama on the political scene, Once again there was a politician who ignited my enthusiasm for political involvement despite the fact that I was now a senior citizen.

      • April 4, 2014 at 2:42 am

nath, I was a junior in college and my experience of the horror of what happened to MLKJr and RFK I never thought would be abated until that very cold day in 2007 when Barack Obama committed to going ‘all in.’

          April 4, 2014 at 6:24 am

You absolutely right Bobfr! While I voted for Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and John Kerry, Barack Obama is the one who really revived my enthusiasm for politics that I had when I was just a 22 year old college student.

    • April 4, 2014 at 10:41 am

The really sad thing is I don’t remember when I heard. It made an impact when I heard, but I was in such an isolated white community and wasn’t discussed. I was young, but still. . .

    4 April 2014

    Dear Mr President,

Have written you many letters. Suffer no illusion you have ever seen one of them.

In that context, I do hope you see this one. Within this week we’ve witnessed two momentous events in American history – resounding success of the first phase of Obamacare and inescapable, irrefutable assault by SCOTUS on the bedrock principle of democracy – one person, one vote.

Five members of SCOTUS are irrefutably tools of the Kochs and their fellow plutocrats. Anyone with two functioning neurons connected by a spirochete knows that.

Moreover, those same plutocrats control broadcast TV, radio and cable transmission in the US.  Tzar Vlad, among our other very real enemies, could not be more delighted or enabled by that fact.  Those same plutocrats, this week, used their respective LICENSES to spectra that the US Government manages on behalf of its citizens (ALL OF THEM) to deny you, the President of the United States of America, prime time broadcast access as to share the momentous news of the fact that truly countless (at this point) Americans now have affordable, non-discriminatory health care.  The FIRST TIME in the HISTORY of America that that is reality. You know these facts as well as anyone.

So, I’ll just offer a few suggested remedies.

Mobilize your Twitter followers and request that they, to whatever extent possible, donate One Dollar A Day To OFA from now until 4 Nov 2014. Imagine the impact if only 10 or 15 percent of them did just that.  It would create a grassroots financial tsunami that overwhelms the plutocrats and, in doing so, affirms that no matter how much money they have they will NEVER OWN America.

Bring withering attention to the FACT that the majority on SCOTUS serve ONLY the plutocrats. Period.

Simply – We are truly at war, Sir.  The enemy is the most dangerous America has confronted since 1861 – an exceptionally well funded, anti-democratic, rapaciously greedy enemy within.

Beyond 2008 and 2012, 4 Nov 2014 must be the day that the vast majority of Americans not only reject the servants of the plutocrats (aka GOP), but then persist every day thereafter in the process of eliminating any such threat in the future.  Not only does all that the American Promise represent depend on doing so, but also the evolutionary potential of an ever more civilized human species.

    Thank you,

    good night TOD
