Sounds to me that this Kearney dude could use a little more edumakashun. My female instincts tell me he didn’t say sh*t when GWB was jetting off to Crawford, TX, and other places, but he has a huge problem with this president taking the beast to ride from the WH to the Lincoln Memorial and other places in D.C.! Tool.

    • April 2, 2014 at 6:54 pm

Portable potties, gardening equipment, and now Mr Kearney. I have lovely Twitter friends, Donna. 🙂

The best part is that he seemed to think I was the President, he complained to me about the traffic in Chicago.

So, as I said earlier, from here on I would like to be addressed as Commander-Chips-in-Chief 😎

That is the media’s speculation and rush to name the shooter as “muslim.” Please refrain from reporting unconfirmed media memes here.

      • 30 dotster3
        April 2, 2014 at 7:51 pm

Just reporting info as it rolls in, as is everyone, subject to change or confirmation, per usual. Not attempting some big dark conspiracy. Geez louise. Take a breath.

        • 31 hopefruit2
          April 2, 2014 at 7:57 pm

Yes, but this particular context, the media is not simply “reporting” info as it rolls. They are planting specific ideas in people’s heads based on stereotypes. They are inciting people to think that the shooter was in fact a Muslim – whether or not that is actually the case. That’s why I would be even more careful when they start with this speculation. Just look at the tweet that Donna posted from Mr. Dollard about killing muslims. It’s that same kind of stereotypical thinking without knowledge of the facts.

          • 32 dotster3
            April 2, 2014 at 8:21 pm

Well, shooter now said to be ivan Lopez—-subject to change, of course. So no more worry about Muslims, no more calling for genocide against Muslims. Sometimes, not necessary to jump in with instant criticism when everyone here is just trying to relay info. And everyone is of the same mind.

            • 33 hopefruit2
              April 2, 2014 at 8:27 pm

My issue was more with the media than with you dotster. And the media is not about relaying info – they’re about planting very specific ideas/propaganda in people’s minds. There shouldn’t have been any media speculation about a “possible Muslim shooter” in the first place given that ~94% of all terrorist acts in the US have been committed by non-Muslims. The fact that the media makes a beeline for the “Muslim” speculation route suspect every time something like this occurs is disturbing. I recall during the Boston Marathon bombing – it was the same thing.

The same was true with the Oklahoma bombing! The media quickly reported that the bombers were Middle Easterners. It ‘s usually better to wait a few days until the people in authority can credibly identify the people alleged to have carried out these violent and heinous acts! I am sorry to say, but most U. S. media are more interested in sensationalism and fear mongering than in reporting TRUTH. Sadly, if the shooter turns out to be a Moslem, or a Black, or Latino, person then all Moslems, or Blacks, or Latinos, are automatically presumed to be potential suspects who are to be deemed a threat.

‘ Perhaps the chief remaining mystery about Benghazi is why Republicans are still harping on it 19 months after the attack — and why they have been so willing to attack career diplomats, military officers and intelligence officials in their jihad against the Obama administration.

The latest official to be caught in the Benghazi shredder is Michael Morell, former deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has charged that Morell “lied” about his role in crafting the famous talking points, and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has claimed Morell “compromise[d]” his “oath of office” in the hope of getting a promotion to CIA director. Those are serious allegations, even if often made in the Benghazi echo chamber of Fox News.

Morell responded Wednesday by doing something unusual in Washington: He answered the charges in open testimony to the House Intelligence Committee. That may only expose him to further assault — there is no winning battles like this in today’s political climate — but it was novel to see someone push back against personal attack. ‘

    and more benghazi-

‘ One of the main purposes of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is to root out waste and duplication in government spending.

The goal is pretty clearly spelled out on the committee’s website. “We exist to secure two fundamental principles. First, Americans have a right to know that the money Washington takes from them is well spent. And second, Americans deserve an efficient, effective government that works for them.”

But one of the biggest offenders may be its chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.).

Issa has cost the government millions of dollars through redundant inquiries into two matters: the 2012 terrorist attack on a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and the IRS’ targeting of political groups seeking tax-exempt status. Yet his probes have revealed little more than a political agenda behind them. ‘

“This is a pivotal moment after more than a decade of sacrifice and struggle. When millions of Afghan men and women go to the polls on April 5 to choose a new President, it could mark Afghanistan’s first democratic transition of power, and we all have a stake in seeing that milestone achieved.

The United States has proudly supported Afghanistan’s electoral and security institutions. But make no mistake: this is Afghanistan’s moment. These elections have been Afghan-owned from the start. The Afghan people have planned and prepared for this historic vote. The Afghan people are staffing and leading the electoral institutions. And the Afghan people are dedicated to protecting and advancing their own democracy.

The United States encourages the presidential candidates, their supporters, and election officials to abide by the laws and regulations governing the elections. By committing to an inclusive, fair, and transparent process, Afghanistan’s leaders will contribute to an outcome that is broadly accepted by Afghans and that strengthens the unity of the country and its democratic future.

The peaceful handover of power will be just as important as the progress achieved over the past decade in building a stronger, more secure and prosperous Afghanistan. It will help protect the gains in security and development over the last 12 years. Above all, it will stand as a powerful legacy of those who have sacrificed so much, including those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, to make this election possible.

The United States is ready to work with the next president, and we look forward to an enduring partnership with the Afghan people, consistent with our shared democratic values and interests.”

            • April 2, 2014 at 7:56 pm

              Yes. But…..

I have to say I’ve made up my mind to turn over a new leaf. I’m going to do my best to stop retweeting stuff that simply amplifies the absolutely insane RW memes of the day. I’m not going to give them one ounce of oxygen. All it does it give them free exposure for their vitriol and I’m just not going to fill my timeline with outrageous filth anymore. I’ll still criticize what I think will add to the conversation but I’m not spreading their lies. I’m sick of being caught up in their spin and breathing air into their lies.

Totally Agree! I was just glad that it wasn’t people that agreed with his thinking that was spreading it but I agree with your larger point. In fact sometimes I see stuff on my timeline and I want to say to that person, “why are you spreading that garbage”. Maybe I should stop thinking it and start saying it…..

                • April 2, 2014 at 8:07 pm

In this case, I can understand why Muslims would react from the gut. It’s another horrid example of the RW’s sick and twisted inability to deal with facts and the real world.

Tell Patrick Dollard that if one more black teenage boy is gun down by white man and the white man walk free, maybe it’s time for black Americans to start slaughtering white teenage boys to let them see how it feel. Now what if we were to say things like that?

    • 57 nathkatun7
      April 3, 2014 at 1:23 am

This is exactly the problem in America! If one Muslim commits a crime, then all Muslims are implicated and must be s”laughter.” But when one white Christian person commits a heinous crime, no one goes around calling for the slaughter of all white Christians.

Twitter and cable can be a great source and then twitter and cable can be outrageously ridiculous during these events. I remember when the shootings happened here at the Navy Yard speculation was flying around. I have this wait and see sense now because most of that stuff that you read when this stuff first happens ends up being very far from the truth.
