This version of A Change Is Gonna Come is my absolute favorite because it so much is about the newly elected President and all the hopes we had pinned on him. No redemption possible there, I won’t ever listen to another word he says and blocked him on Twitter. MSNBC sure knows how to find these young smugsters. I see that son of Mia Farrow has had poor ratings and might be cancelled. Too bad it’s just him and not Chris Hayes and Chuck Toad too. Gawdawfulness. I don’t watch either of them EVER but just seeing their promos during other shows makes me nauseous.

Steve Kroft reports on a new book from Michael Lewis, “Flash Boys,” that reveals how a group of unlikely characters discovered how some high speed traders work the stock market to their advantage……

Please take the time to watch the full 60 minutes report & bookmark the New York Times mag excerpt of how these guys exposed how High Frequency Traders have rigged the entire U.S. stock market (your pentions/mutal funds/401k)…. even GoldMan Sachs was getting took….until these guys showed up!

I saw that last night. Very interesting that such a high tech business (stock trading) still relies on actual physical telephone wire if you will to play the game and that distance from one location to another matters, unlike the internet where distance doesn’t matter.

So Those who may qualify for the medicare part of ACA have Zero deadline if their States have the extension? I didn’t know that. That should be told more often. I thought I was slightly educated enough on ACA. I failed.

    • March 31, 2014 at 10:39 pm

Thanks to Obamacare legislation, signing up for Medicaid under ACA takes place year round. Once you qualify your medical bills get covered up to 90 days retroactively.

        March 31, 2014 at 10:48 pm

        Thanks meta.

When my Mom was alive, we had to renew her coverage every Nov. So I was under the impression that medicare enrollment is just as the private insurance coverage.

        • March 31, 2014 at 10:55 pm

You’re so welcome, Nena. PBO really has worked to make healthcare more accessible.

        • 71 57andfemale
          April 1, 2014 at 12:34 am

You may be confusing Medicare and Medicaid. Medicaid is available all year if you qualify. Medicare, for seniors, has an enrollment period at the end of the year unless you hit your 65th birthday during the year.

            April 1, 2014 at 9:56 am

Okay. Then I was totally ill informed on this. I remember going to get trained to help get my Mom signed up and get her private insurance .

This was during the enactment of Medicare Part D enrollment fiasco.

              April 1, 2014 at 10:34 am

              April 1, 2014 at 10:38 am

Also, Nena, Medicare has been staffed with ‘navigators’ for decades, helping seniors sign up for Medicare. All of a sudden when it comes to ACA, navigators need a top level security clearance from GOP. It’s despicable.

Urge all of you to read every word of:

The Numbers Vladimir Putin Doesn’t Want You to See

    “Russians prefer alternative reality.

In the days since Vladimir Putin annexed Crimea, the Russian people are once again feeling good about their country. A robust 63 percent of them say they consider Russia a “great power,” according to a survey released this week by the Levada Center, a respected Russian polling firm. The survey also found that Putin’s approval rating is now at 80 percent, a 17-point rebound from his all-time low, just one year ago.

    clip

When it comes to the environment, I found that 50 percent of Russia’s water is not potable. Air pollution continues to be an extremely serious issue, suggesting that a solution proposed during the late-Soviet period continues to hold sway. Back then, a Russian health minister advised the country to “breathe less” in order to live longer.

This is the kind of desperation that Vladimir Putin is distracting the Russian people from. During the 2000 campaign he flew to the scene of the uprising in Chechnya and promised to “ice them while they’re shitting in the outhouse.” Doing the math today, you can see that Russia remains frozen in time—and its leaders free to hallucinate.”

    http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2014/03/numbers-vladimir-putin-doesnt-want-you-to-see?mbid=social_facebook

    • March 31, 2014 at 10:56 pm

BTW, you can be absolutely certain that President Obama knows this stuff, comprehensively ….

“According to Murray Feshbach, a Georgetown professor emeritus and the dean of Russian demography in the United States, Russia’s working-age population is also declining by a million people a year, a faster rate than the decline of the overall population, which in 2013 stood at around 143 million, 3 million less than when Putin took office. Moreover, only 30 percent of Russian babies born are born healthy. Eberstadt told me that many unhealthy Russian babies are “discarded” —sent to government institutions where they often develop cognitive difficulties. Unhealthy children grow up to be unhealthy adults: half of the conscripted Russian army has to be put in limited service because of poor health.”

      ibid.

Just read the article, similar to others I’ve posted, to get a very clear sense of just how WEAK & desperate Tzar Putin’s Russia is. Those are not facts over which to gloat, those are facts that should scare the daylights out of you. Tzar Vlad literally has NOTHING TO LOSE. A dude with nukes who had NOTHING TO LOSE is the most dangerous creature humanity has ever confronted.

#TrustBarack …. he knows how dangerous the situation is

I have prayed and prayed, asking God to make the ACA a success, and it seems he heard my prayers and the prayers of all others who were asking for the same thing! I am so happy today. It’s wonderful, too, that approval for the ACA is up and it was announced today—on the day of the deadline.

Yes Indeed, Vicki! Nerdy and Chips have done an amazing job covering the positive news about OBAMACARE. We should also express our gratitude to TOD members who have worked so hard to help people enroll in the OBAMACARE. I know I will mis some names, but here are some of the people that deserve our thanks for all their hard work: What’s Working, Donna Dem, Judith Farding, Tally, Bill R, GGail, HOPE44, Isonprize, and many many other TOD members, whose names I have forgotten, who have worked so hard to help others get covered by OBAMACARE. Also the wonderful TOD twitter warriors, to many to list, who have been relentless and fearless in defending OBAMACARE. This night belongs to all of them!

My question remains: Why is the press so hellbent on keeping people from having reasonable health care via their horrible non-reporting? I know why the Repukes don’t want people to have access to it, but why is the press so adamant this is a failure, and people shouldn’t have it??????? THEY all have good health care…….we know that!

Actually David is being modest! ACA has so far resulted in the coverage of about 17 million people if you add in the 3 million young adults who stayed on their parents’ insurance until they were 26; the 4.5 million now covered by Medicaid; and another 2.7 million who accessed all the ACA insurance benefits directly from the insurer
